Noisy rooms

Posted 29-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
Rooms are massively noisy as the walls are v thin. Could hear everything in the next door room, everything from the bar downstairs (until 2 a.m.) and also from everyone as they walked past the room on their way to bed

less a hotel, more a giant niteclub

Posted 14-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
beautiful, picturesque place, with great rooms a plenty of space....let down by many rowdy, clubbers at the weekend. Hotel entrance required bouncers. Has a post-match town centre atmosphere. Not nice considering it could be a perfect quiet semi-countryside getaway.

lovely hotel shame about the noise!!

Posted 07-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel itself was lovely and in beautiful surroundings. Inside and out were lovely rustic settings and the room was very big and clean, only down side was the bathroom was a bit dated but seems to be the norm in older hotels. The big problem for me was that we were in room 306 which was on the landing facing the entrance to the on site night club and the noise was horrendous, not to mention all of the drunken people shouting outside our room who left the club!! I did eat from the hotel lunch menu, the burger was nice, nothing to write home about, food and drinks a little on the steep side. All in all was pretty good, the noise really did let it down though.

Good but not for an early start on the weekend.

Posted 30-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Enjoyed my stay on Saturday Night, it is a little busy to say the least but we used as we visited a football match nearby. The room was spacious and fantastic comfort, We had room service as my son and I was not dressed smartly enough. Food was great, really enjoyable. However we put the trays out by 8pm and expected them to be cleared but was still there in the morning. We had an eventful night as the room next to us was used by a set of four whom was knocking on the door at 3am and then preceeded to have an arguement. I went to reception and it was swiftly sorted. As the hotel has a club attached it can get a little noisy as people passing tend to be drunk and not quiet, I can not be the only person that got disturbed sleep. The carpet and hallways to remind me slightly of the Shining. These a negatives and on the positives the staff were great and really helpful. The Breakfast was Fab and compliments to the staff all round. The Gym was useful for a quick visit. Would go back again but without plans for an early start.

good hotel with cheap rooms

Had a good stay over for 1 night only. will be coming back to stay again. Good club downstairs and only £30 to travel by taxi to the city center. good prices in this hotel to stay over we saved £80 from staying here rather than the city center.

Lack of sleep

Posted 29-Sep-2014
Pros: Hotel rooms were nice and clean.
Cons: Close the bar at normal time to ensure the other guests can sleep in peace and quiet.
At the week-end late night revellers party into the early hours and disturb the guests,. The revellers incudes stag and hen parties as well as loud foul mouthed drunks who made sure we had no sleep.

Scope for improvement

Posted 25-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
When we booked we hadn't realised that the hotel is in administration, presumably due to previous mis-management. We did have quite a number of issues regarding the condition of the room and the noise within the hotel but did reach a satisfactory resolution with the management. On the plus side, the management team brought in to turn the business around seem very, very committed to doing this and were very keen to resolve matters. I feel sure that their efforts will result in great improvements but this will take time, of course. In the short term I think prospective customers need to be aware of this. I am certainly not saying "do not go there" but there needs to be an awareness that the hotel is undergoing a period of change/improvement.
