Been there before.

Posted 22-Jun-2014
Pros: It was quiet and looked quaint.
Cons: Change from over warm duvet bed covers to something cooler. Perform upkeep on the whole place and brighten things up some.
Location: Don't know.
I stayed there before and condition of the rooms was much better than now. Staff forgot my wake-up call. Dinner meal was okay but no different than any diner food anywhere.

On arrival I thought staff were direct and unwelcoming, however this was soon forgotten by the quality of service I recieved.

Not an idea if you just passing by for one night

Posted 10-Jun-2014
I booked for one night because my flight on next morning and I didn't want to stay in airport hotels. It's a beautiful area, a lot of greenery, and nice looking building. I guess people going there for the bar for fun unfortunately not for me. But still nice staying with little walk around.

Age restrictions

Posted 28-Apr-2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Policy for families and customer service reception staff.
Location: Location was good
What your not told! My son and I travelled from Portsmouth for the match with Bury and wanted to make a weekend of it staying over my son is almost 17 years old and disabled. All was well until we checked in after the game which was around 1700hrs and I was told that there was no room in the restaurant until 21.00 however at that time my son would not be allowed to join me for our evening meal? I asked why and was told they have a age limit and he was not allowed out of his room after 1900 hrs which meant that we now needed to eat in the bar and be out by that time what a load of rubbish..... To top that there was a wedding on at the hotel and I don't think they told them that rule the kids were everywhere. A nice relaxing weekend turned into a complete nightmare it's like a prison for kids will never stay there again the reception staff were useless and would not listen..... Change your policy for families iam not surprised you are in administration.

Stayed several times, dinner and breakfast was very nice as usual. Bed was very uncomfortable; had to change to the single bed in room.

Business and function led hotel

Posted 23-Apr-2014
Pros: Restaurant and breakfast facilities.
Cons: Needs a facelift
Location: Ideal for visiting areas of Cheshire and greater Manchester.
The hotel is good in parts, our room was very 'tired' with stains on carpet and woodwork. Bathroom was past it's best with signs of rot on base of door. However, breakfast and restaurant facilities were good and staff were very good.

A bit dated but great value and service

Posted 07-Jan-2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed in this hotel over the Christmas period - which is a bit of an odd time of year - however the rooms were very clean and the service was great. The place was very quiet which made it feel a bit unloved. However, when we did meet staff they were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. The only thing I didn't like was the d├ęcor - which is stuck in the eighties in the bedrooms/bar/dining areas. The feature space was the club created in the ancient barn or hall that I assume gives the venue it's name. That was well worth a visit!
