Excellent location, fascinating place to stay
Very helpful and friendly front desk clerks, all of them, thank you! The room was decent, and very clean, including the bathroom. The area is fantastic, and an easy walk to Gamla Stan and other attractions like the Royal Palace. The main concern I have are that the bathroom mirror in the rooms on the top floor are placed too low to be usable. The other thing to be aware of is that elevators were not invented when this hotel was built, so you will need to walk up stairs to your room, up to three floors. It's manageable, even for my old body. Complimentary breakfast was good.

Cozy or just small?
Check in was quick and the staff was courteous. The room was very small, but large enough for one person, similar to a college dormitory room. They try to posh it up a bit with a chandelier, but only one bulb worked in the thing. There was plenty of other light though. The bathroom was a bit narrow, but the shower was hot and powerful. If I wasn’t 6’, 250lbs, and maybe 5’8” 160lbs, I wouldn’t have felt as cramped in the place, but I didn’t spend that much time in my room except to sleep. For a twin bed, it was fairly comfortable and the sheets were clean. The TV was fairly large and positioned well so I could lay in bed and watch, and there were plenty of outlets for me to charge my phone and other electronics. Stockholm is a beautiful city, and the hotel is within walking distance of decent restaurants, bars and some attractions, and also very close to a Metro station to catch the train. I would stay here again if I was traveling solo, and that’s what’s important. No real frills, but it was comfortable enough for the price to make it worthwhile.

Great location
The hotel is in a very good location close to subway but away from the main street and in a nice area of Stockholm with many restaurants and attractions nearby. Walking distance from the commuter train to e.g. the Stockholmsmässan conference centre. It is quiet if you have a room which faces the main entrance, but probably less quiet at the back since this faces the subway entrance. The staff is very friendly and the hotel has a nice atmosphere. The breakfast is top notch! On the downside, the rooms are dated and small, so don't expect much luxury. On the whole though it was value for money and I would recommend.

The Price Was Right
This is an old, old hotel. So expect all the problems that a 300 year old hotel will have. Sound proofing was not priority in the 18th century. The shared WC was small, busy and definitely long past its due date for a renovation. The location is great, close to a metro station and access to any where in Stockholm. The breakfast was one of the best we have experienced. Made up for the soft beds. We would stay again just for the breakfast but avoid the shared WC rooms.

Good location & Great breakfast
This hotel is well located in the center of Stockholm and the rooms are nice. The breakfast bar is great. If only it had an elevator. Reception staff are very helpful.

This is a great hotel if you just need a place to sleep. It's not a room you'd want to hang out in much. The breakfast is great. Location is very convenient and around the corner from the subway and steps from the charming Gamla Stan.

Unique atmosphere and fantastic staff
This hotel is really unique and allows a great opportunity to experience some of the old charm of Stockholm. The room I stayed it was small, but comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent.

Gorgeous old central hotel, walk to old town
Gorgeous old building, super close to metro, walkable to Gamla Stan and around Södermalm. Delicious breakfast buffet, helpful staff arranged picnic breakfast for me when I had to leave super early one morning. Had a great stay!

We wanted to stay near the Old Town and wanted to try an older hotel, which was a big mistake. We were given a room way down at a lowest level, downstairs that would not be fit for a student dorm. When booking, I was in a hurry and did not notice that the bathrooms were out in the hallway. I wanted to upgrade the room and was told I would have to pay almost $100 extra! Perhaps the rooms upstairs are decent and have their own bath? Also there was no elevator. The breakfast was reasonably good. Regardless it almost ruined our vacation. However it is within 5 minutes to Slussen underground.

Old world charm for any budget
Very attractive hotel with a hearty full breakfast and tremendously nice staff. My husband and I were traveling on a tight budget, and booked a no-frills room accordingly, so it was nice we were able to enjoy this historic location nonetheless.

Good location and great breakfast
Old building with character in a good area very close to Gamla Stan. Comfortable room, helpful staff and great European breakfast. Stairs are a problem if you have luggage.

Historic Building
Lovely historic building in Sodermalm, close to public transportation, within walking distance of the old town. the hotel staff was fabulous! We were originally given a fourth floor room (no elevator), but after telling the desk that I had a slight physical disability, they moved us to a wonderful with only a few steps to reach. The breakfast was extraordinary, and the waitstaff went out of their way to be helpful.

Really charming hotel - great area
This hotel is simply charming. It dates from 1647 and we feel the historic charm. The area is lively with many restaurants and shops and not too touristic. The breakfast buffet is very very good with a nice variety. They intend to renovate and to add a lift. Hopefully the renovations won't be to the detriment of the historical feel.

A nice step above a hostel
I had an economy room for 1 person and it was perfect. The room was small but had it's own sink and tv. The toilet and shower were down the hall, but not too far away. My room was clean when I arrived and was cleaned each day while I was away. I even left my small laptop in plain view but it was not touched. The reception staff were extremely nice and helpful. The only problem would be if someone is a light sleeper, because there is a lot of noise coming from inside and outside the hotel. Thankfully I am not a light sleeper so it was a perfect fit for me!

Wonderful staff
The staff is wonderful, very helpful and kind and friendly. I really liked this hotel, yes it's old and a bit run-down, but it feels quite homely and is comfortable. My single room was very adequate, clean, with huge windows, comfy bed. The breakfast is very good, lots of choices (even for a vegan). And all this for a very reasonable price in the middle of the city. It's a bit noisy from the street, so earplugs is a good idea. Otherwise, all good!

Best place to stay in Stockholm!
Hotell Anno 1647 was the best value of all accommodation options in Stockholm. It was not overpriced, perfect location and the inclusive breakfast buffet was superb. The hotel is in a lovely building and the rooms are very comfortable and ample in size. The staff were also very accommodating when a mistake was made booking an extra night, they prioritised me so that I could get the same room at the lower rate which was very much appreciated. The only down factor which needs to be mentioned is the noise pollution from the nearby Slussen redevelopment. Unfortunately this is not the fault of the hotel but it is a factor because of the close proximity to the work that is going on. Overall, great value hotel in a beautiful city.

Great location in Stockholm
Good location to the metro station in a great part of Stockholm. Very helpful staff, willing to help you with any questions. Lots of places to eat, drink and shop in the immediate area.

Great hotel near the subway & old city center
We loved this hotel's location, breakfast & staff. Everyone was so friendly. And they have a secure parking lot. We went for a cheaper room with a shared bathroom, but we never had a problem with any kind of wait. Overall a great property that I would definitely use again.

Central location, wonderful staff
We stayed in an economy room for 3 nights, which had a shared bathroom (although your own sink in private bedroom). The room was great for the price and not too noisy given the location. The location is fab, right near underground and bus groups and an easy walk to galma stan and sodermalm. The staff were brilliant, so helpful and friendly! Breakfast was lovely, tasty food and a good mostly continental choice!

Older, basic hotel in great location
Pleasant and small hotel in the center of the city. Great location. Excellent staff. Good breakfast. Problem is the hotel is old, so the rooms are quite small and simple. No bathroom in the room, must use communal bathrooms. Overall good place to stay for a short visit, but not an extended one.

Uncomfortable and unpleasant...
Staff and breakfast were great. Everything else very poor. Had a single economy room with a shared bathroom (as advertised). Bed mattress (twin) terrible and sagging. No sheets, just one blanket. Shared bathrooms (sink and toilet) were not large enough to sit on the toilet without touching the sink! Room window to alley with construction and heavy foot traffic was loud all night. And walls are paper thin; if there are any other guests you will hear their every move.

Don't get the cheap rooms
I took one of the budget rooms with shared bathroom and shower. Upon entering the area for these rooms, one is greeted with badly stained carpet. The room is Spartan with an uncomfortable bed and a desk and two chairs. No table on which to place items and no luggage rack. The walls between the rooms in this area are microscopically paper thin ... You'll hear nearly everything your neighbors say. The rooms look out on a busy street and square. Thank goodness it was cool so I could shut the window and keep street noise out. If I'd had to keep the window open, it would have been unbearable. There are two shared toilets...one of them was out of service half the time. There is no elevator to the rooms, so expect to haul your stuff up flights of stairs. Breakfast was fine and served in a pleasant room. Staff was competent and friendly.

Hotel is well located for the main tourist attractions. 15 min walk to the old town, next door to slussen metro which is 2 stops from the central station, and a short walk to the ferries to other islands we caught one over to the Museum island for the ABBA /open air Museum . As we were arriving late via train from Copenhagen the 24 hour front desk was essential as many hotels did not appear to provide access and therefore room keys after 8 or 9 pm. Our room was a basic one with a bathroom across the corridor, but in our 3 nights there neither of us had to queue for a shower or the loo, in fact we never saw anyone else in the corridor apart from the cleaners. There was a good selection at breakfast. There are some entertaining free walks that start from Slussen and Gamla Station that we did, you just tip the guide at the end.

A rather disappointing stay at this hotel which should be rated 2, rather than 3 stars. The room was small and decor was dated to say the least. Apart from the breakfast room, the images on the Expedia page are very misleading. When we arrived, it was a very hot day and yet the very old towel rail in the bathroom was boiling hot. Unable to turn it off, I asked the receptionist who told me that it was broken and couldn't be moved. She did come up a couple of times with a spanner but it wouldn't budge! Unfortunately, they were fully booked so unable to move us and there was no offer of a reduced bill. However, they did leave us some sweets and a couple of mini bottles of wine on the last night! The beds were comfortable but there were no extras such as tea and coffee facilities or a fridge. Also, it was very noisy (we were there over the weekend) as there was a bar on the corner and several very drunk people came down the alley (where the hotel is situated) to wee and shout a lot! On the plus side, breakfast was good and the hotel is very central and has a metro nearby.

I was there for over a week. The staff was lovely and the hotel is charming. However, I am over 60 and found the step a bit difficult. It would be helpful to have an elevator, especially for moving in and out.

Old building. small room and thin wall that you can hear next room's noise. Shared bathroom and toilet but toilets are clean and shower rooms are spacious and have enough towel. Breakfast is good and transportation is very good. Slussen subway station is very near and you can get to the hotel from Old town on foot. Good value for money but you should not expect the modern 3 or 4 star hotel.

Great find, great location
I had a great stay at the hotel, and it far exceeded my expectations at the price point. The room and premises were incredibly clean and - while small - very well laid out. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations for tours and restaurants. And the included breakfast was delicious! The one downside was street noise that could be heard quite clearly in the room, but the trade-off for excellent location seemed reasonable.
