“Acceptable. Just nothing special.”
Minuses: WiFi is in the lobby and the hotel has practically no lobby to speak of. Couldn't charge drinks at the pool bar to the room. Very inconvenient. Selection of alcohols and drinks was circa 1975. Like get some Patron tequilla for pete's sake! Who drinks Jose Cuervo anymore!!! lol Also, what up with the pool side game? Are people really still doing that?? I had to go off the resort because I wanted to relax, not listen to poolside Karaoke everyday. Pluses: Staff are relatively friendly. Gym is excellent, especially if your'e familiar with what some caribbean "gyms" can be equipped like. Beach is pretty nice. Room was updated and attractive.
“excellent location-our second stay here.”
Perfect location for a stay on Saint Marteen.
“Def going back!”
You might be scared at first but once you get in your room you will be amazed at the room you end up in and the clealiness of your room. I would def go back and already started planning on it. They don't clean the rooms during your stay but that seems to be the trend in St Maarten. The pool is clean but not that big which is fine because the beach is 20 feet away. Food is good at the bar and the staff is great. Have fun!
“very satisfied”
Royal Palm has an excellent location in Simpson Bay - many of the travelers did not even rent a car. The hotel has activities that will take you by bus to the main highlights of St Martin - Orient beach, shopping in Margot etc. They also have in house activities - music, dinner specials, crab racing, water games for the kids. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Room could use a little updating - TVs for example but the price was right and room not to be complained about. Their beach is ok - could for morning swim or late in the day after you go to some of the best beaches in the world - such as Dawn beach or even Orient where the water is so clear. All in all I would recommend the hotel to others especially if they were bringing kids.
“Beautiful oceanview!”
We had a great 2 bedroom/ 2 bath apartment with full kitchen, incl. ice-maker! Ocean view was wonderful from both the living and the bedroom, in addition to the balcony. Used the kitchen a lot which helped the budget, but plenty of restaurant options right around the hotel too. There are also several grocery stores within walking distance. We did rent a car for the week which I would recommend. Not expensive and it's fun to tour the whole island. Do keep in mind the roads and driving habits are not the same as in the US. Philipsburg has great shopping and we enjoyed seeing the large cruise ships too. Did find that the beach right in front of the hotel is one of the best and we ended up spending quite a bit of time relaxing there. Maho beach is a must see: watching the planes land and take off so close by is very entertaining!
“will definitely return”
comfort, cleanliness, and prompt customer service are outstanding. Live music too loud esp in rooms over entrance. will definitely return staff exceptionally friendly and helpful
“good hotel”
The hotel is well located close to the airport (as we did some island hopping) and in an area with plenty restaurants (dancing and dining). You can take a bus just in front of the hotel to both capital cities (dutch / french). Enough parking space for your rented car. Everyday activities in the hotel (it's a timeshare). The 2 bedroom (each with it's own bathroom) rooms are very well equipped and pleasant to be in. You can easily share the room as 2 couples and having enough privacy. If we return to Sint Maarten, we will surely stay here again.
“Love, love, love it!”
This was our second in two years and once again, my family and I found the staff to be very friendly, we had spacious clean rooms in a family friendly environments. The best part was that the hotel was centrally located with multiple restaurants within walking distance. We would definintely revisit the Royal Palm.
“Hurricane-proof!”
Stayed here because in 95 when category 4 Luis pummeled SXM, the whole island was non-functional but Royal palm didn't miss a beat. I survived a categorty 2-3 Hurrican (Earl) with minimal inconvenience. Staff are great, location is great. I've stayed many places but this is best overall so far....
“Great Location”
Hotel was fine, air conditioning was not working in first room, had to move rooms second night. Great location to restaurants, where food was excellent. Hotel ran out of Beach towels by 3pm, but other activities at Hotel were great. No room cleaning the entire 4 day stay due to time share status.
