Pros - the stunning and historic building, restored and renovated to have more modern rooms. The staff were all exceptionally friendly. Clean and convenient amenities. Great proximity to main street and river. Great menu in the pub. Very atmospheric and lovely
Cons - We were in a room opening up onto the beer garden, and we stayed on a Saturday night. It was therefore quite noisy until about 1am, and then again when the morning shift started. This also meant all the smoke from the open fire came straight into our room, despite having the window/door closed and air con on. We were glad it was the end of our trip as we/our luggage became quite smokey, and if we were asthmatic we really would have struggled. Perhaps sealing the window/door, and changing the fire location/adding a chimney would stop the smoke pooling in the rooms above the beer garden? Without this, our stay would have been really good, as the beds were comfortable and we didn't mind the noise so much!
