“Do not stay at this dirty smelly old dump....I wouldn't let my dog stay here!”
This was really a disgustingly dirty hotel, it needs a complete tear down. The service was not pleasant and the linens stunk. I was afraid I would catch bed bugs .....do not stay here!
“"Horrible"”
The hotel was deplorable!! We did not stay and would not recommend it to anyone that has any concern with cleanliness.
“Your typical, renovated many times small motel”
Located on old A1A near downtown St. Augustine, it is a typical older motel building that's been renovated many times over the years. It is conveniently located to downtown and has its own very small sports bar restaurant. The food was very good, inexpensive and it was convenient to not have to drive anywhere for food. Ice and vending machines were conveniently located and worked well. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. As this motel permitted pets, a couple times nearby rooms had barking dogs which could be heard, even several rooms down. The pool was clean, although I didn't go swimming. The room was relatively small, but had clean linens, a bathroom that was also clean and an air conditioner that worked well and was fairly new. The only recurring problem were the room "keys" which had to be reprogrammed a couple times. I don't know if it's because the cards were old or because the readers in the doors needed cleaning. Also, there is an access road that goes behind the motel that you will likely take to go into the parking lot. It has major pot holes and can jar your teeth if you aren't watching where you are driving. Rather than fix the road, they put up a "watch the pot hole" sign. Within walking distance of restaurants, a convenient store and a small antique row and a number of gift shops.
“Filthy carpet”
The carpet was filthy and the water from room air conditioners was dripping from the above floors, splashing on the walkways. On the way to the pool there was dog droppings on the walkway.
“Ramada Downtown St. Augustine--Fine for the Money”
It's not the Ritz, but it works if you need a reasonable place to stay. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. I've stayed several times and never had any problems. The place is quiet and convenient to town. The rooms could probably use some updating--carpet, etc., is worn.
“Great Price, good location, just what we needed!”
Went to Old St. Augustine to check out the San Sebastian Winery, walk around town, have some dinner and drinks for the day so decided it'd be a good idea to rent a hotel for the night and leave the next day. For the location, the price was great and the room was clean. It was just what we needed. May not be the finest place in town but it wasn't terrible by all means and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The pool was nice and there's a small restaurant in the first floor which we were told was pretty good and had great specials so we'll have to check it out next time.
“Great Location and the staff was so friendly!”
The first room we had the shower was leaking and I went and asked for some towels so that I could just soak it up but hey insisted that we take another room. The staff was awesome. I would definately stay again. Now no it is not a wingate or marriott. but for the price and the amount of time we spent in the room it was great. I only went there to shower and sleep so it was just what we needed. The pool was clean and it wasn't full of people all the time.
“Not Impressed”
Comparable to a $40/$50 per night hotel elsewhere. Long walk from downtown. Condition of hotel, cleanliness not acceptable.
“Average”
I wouldn't recommend anything long term as the hotel is kind of beat up. There were a few cracks in the wall and the beds weren't great, but it worked for a one night stay. The location was very convenient, and the hot tub was actually hot.
“Don't expect a super-whole-lot ...”
It's very convenient to the downtown area, and to the Old Town Trolley Tours facility. If you're looking for bed's turned down at night and mints on the pillows, look elsewhere; nope, The Ritz it ain't. If you're looking for a base of operations to plan your daytime attack of the various tourist trappings, and need a comfortable bed afterward to nurse your ill-gained farmer's tan, than this is your headquarters. As long as you're not counting on the sparse amenities offered, the price is just about right. The pool is large enough for the kiddies to get their "drown" on, and you're within walking distance of some nice eateries to take the Lil' Missus, while the kiddles harvest a pizza and play on their Wii (You DID bring the Wii, right?). Sure, I'd stay there again.
