“Light and space - relaxation is easy here”

A bright and spacious lobby, modern and comfortable rooms, excellent spa facilities, a beautiful outdoor pool and easy access to a small beach with free loungers and sunshades - these are the highlights of this hotel. Service was very good too - friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was a treat - a comprehensive choice so that it was possible to have something quite different each day. The terraces provided very relaxing spaces in which to eat and drink. Decided to eat in the hotel on the first evening - but we were very disappointed. There was a buffet choice - the salads were fine - but the main courses were not very nice at all and the puddings were not to our taste. It may be that we simply chose the wrong evening (the menu changes daily), but we didn't go back. Some travellers may be disappointed to find that alongside this hotel there is a building site on which stands the shell of an apartment block. There is no building taking place, but from some areas of the hotel the view is not good (didn't bother us in the least - we simply looked in a different direction!) Other travellers may have to consider the distance into Split - a 40 minute walk along the coast or a taxi ride. We walked and again it was no problem - but it may not suit everyone!

Area recommendations

Split is worth exploring by day and by night. The Diocletian Palace and the old town are musts. A trip to Hvar is highly recommended - a two hour ferry crossing may be slow but travelling is part of the pleasure. Buses are available to take you across the island to Hvar town which has some lovely fish restaurants. From the hotel walk along the promenade towards Split until you come to the pizzeria Velo Misto overlooking the marina. It doesn't look much from the outside but the food is great and the price is very good. Try Sperun in Split for good food and great atmosphere too.

What to pack

Beach shoes so that you can take advantage of the crystal clear waters (most beaches are pebbles)

“Perfect for an introduction to Dalmatia”

Stayed 4 nights in this stylish hotel and couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. Located in a quiet, developing area just a 10 minute (£6) taxi ride from busy Split, or a 40min seafront walk past a little harbour , several bars and the town beach. Hotel is funky and modern. Communal areas clean, bright and airy. Restaurant and pool terraces have stunning views across to the islands. Reception staff spoke good English and there were bookable excursions Mon - Fri from the hotel Booked a standard room in main hotel (there is a wing with "economy" rooms), unable to guarantee sea view at time of booking. Reception staff apologetically described a "partial" sea view but in fact we had a fabulous vista from the 7th floor of mountains, beach, sea and islands. Downtown Split is not attractive - being ringed with high rise, somewhat shabby apartment blocks but keep looking out to sea and you can tolerate that. Room facilities all as described - big walk in shower, v comfortable bed, safe and tea tray. Breakfast buffet was extensive and varied, even including sparkling wine to start your day off well! Nearest beach is a short 5 min walk from a back entrance of the hotel down some steps onto the promenade with a few beach bars and a very local feel. Only had 3 days - did Split on one (in unseasonal thunder, hail and flash floods) and ferried to beautiful Brac the other 2. Radisson Blu is a good base for a short break to get a taster of what Dalmatia has to offer.

Area recommendations

Wander through Diocletian's Palace and old town Split at night - get lost in the alleyways and stumble upon magnificent architecture . Hop over to Brac on the ferry, then local bus to Milna - picture perfect harbour bursting with yachts and super yachts. Walk around to the rocky terraces and swim. Worth it for the bus ride alone - beautiful villages and mountain roads.

“Fantastic hotel”

Superb! Very clean, modern hotel with breakfast / dinner terrace overloking the sea. Breakfast - excellent variety. Rooms are very comfortable with lovely large balconies, and are very clean, spacious and very modern using light colours and glass decor. The leisure facilities are superb - jucuzzi, sauna, steam room, indoor & outdoor swimming pools (with views of the sea), plunge pool, sun terrace.......total bliss!!! Treatments availabe at an additional charge. The staff are very helpful and polite, and they pulled out all the stops to ensure our stay was the best we could possibly have - they even arranged for a private area by the pool in the evening, for our party of 20 to have pre-dinner drinks for our special birthday celebrations, and arranged a special dinner menu and birthdy cake for us. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk or a taxi ride to the centre of town, and is a couple of minute walk to the beach. Recommend for anyone wanting a relaxing break.

Area recommendations

Trogir is a lovely little town for a day trip - boats go from the waterfront in Split town several times a day, excellent value and very cheap - takes about 1hr to get there by boat, or go there by bus. Marjan Hill: stunning views over Split from Marjan Hill.

When to go

Good weather at the end of May. Average was about 28C and got hotter by the day!

Must see

Krka National Park: beautiful with waterfalls, pools and walkways around the park. Smaller, but is more accessible from Split for a day trip than Plitvice. Island of Brac: take the ferry from Spit to Supetar, then take the bus down to Bol - beautiful beaches with clear blue sea.

Nightlife

Bacvice Beach: lots of late night bars and nightclubs overlooking the sea. Various music types in different bars. Diocletian's Palace: various bars inside the palace, some ideal for a relaxing drink, others with music.

Other

White water rafting experience - booked direct at the tourist agency in the centre of Split, it was a fantastic, value for money day out. Great for beginners to rafting! Beautiful scenery.

“Split Croatia world class staff, in great location with improving Hotel”

The Staff were fantastic opening a very new hotel, they made our stay very warm and treated as if we were extended family, and happy to share the hotel and their home town and country.

Getting around

You can walk to old town in about 30 minutes, and taxis are all about 50 kuna, or 10 dollars

“Ein tolles Hotel über dem Meer mit exzellentem Service”

Das moderne Hotel empfängt mit freundlichem Service. Mein Zimmer war nicht zur Meerseite, die natürlich viel schöner ist, aber für 2 Tage war es o.k., für länger sollte man natürlich auf das Meer schauen! Zimmer top-sauber, Einrichtung angemessen. Allerdings war die Tür zum Flur recht hellhörig. Im ganzen Hotel kostenloses WLAN. Die Gastronomie war sehr gut, das Frühstück auf der überdachten Terrasse mit Blick auf das Meer hätte ich um Stunden ausdehnen können. Das Büffet war sehr vielfältig ausgestattet, von deftig über Obst bis süß alles dabei. Abends haben wir vom Büffet gegessen, das auch recht gut und für deutsche Verhältnisse recht preiswert war. Am Abreisetag mußte ich das Hotel schon gegen 5 Uhr in der Frühe verlassen, die Organisation mit Flughafentransfer und Frühstückspäckchen klappte perfekt. Die Umgebung des Hotels ist bis auf die eigene Badestelle mit Strandbar und eine Lounge auf dem kurzen Weg hinab zum Strand nichts wert, da Betonwüste (Wohnblocks).
