“Not interested in foreigners.....”
The hotel is in a good location, the concierge were very helpful. The lobby coffee/lounge area is very nice with great service and drink quality was excellent, even though a bit pricey. As far as the breakfast/buffet goes, it was disgusting! The cooks very constantly wiping their noses with their hands and in the next motion were handling your food! I mentioned this to the food managers and they seemed to have the attitude that this was okay and why was I complaining! Besides that the quality of the buffet food was substandard. This is the main reason I would not go back. I have stayed at this hotel twice before hoping things would improve but unfortunately they are not interested. I travel 200 days a year. The hotel caters to primarily Chinese government employees and they are not interested in anybody else
“very good hotel”
excellent hotel, helpful staff, nice location and relatively good room
“Great choice”
I spent two weeks in China on vacation and decided to splurge on a great hotel my last two nights. The Oriental Riverside is convenient to the subway and easily accessible by taxi. The room was extraordinarily clean, many subtle amenities, quiet, and comfortable. My only complaint is that food service was not accessible. The most expensive meal I had in China was the hotel brunch at $40USD. The food was excellent but way overpriced. Surrounding restaurants are tourist places close to the Shanghai Pearl.
“Best location you want to be in Shanghai”
Oriental Riverside hotel locates right in the heart of the city. I had great view of Oriental tower from my window.
“One of Shanghai's best”
The site was fantastic, one of the best locations in town. Right on the river and next to the Pearl town. You couldn't get a better location and a better hotel than the Oriental Riverside. The service was impecable. The staff was professional, polite, and helpful. All spoke very good English. The Expedia rate was fantastic and as always, booking through Expedia was very smooth and painless.
“A distinctive place to stay in Shanghai”
In addition to its unmistakable facade that features two large globes, the Oriental Pearl has an opulent lobby and very comfortable rooms, some of which have a great view across the river toward the Bund. It also has a conventient location at the foot of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, near a subway stop and at the entrance to the "Sightseeing Tunnel" that passes beneath the river. The breakfast buffet was very complete. Unfortunately, while I was there, the hotel's spa and swimming pool were both still under construction, which was a disappointment. But it was a very welcome place to return to each evening after a day at Expo 2010.
“very impress”
Excellent hotel, wish breakfast was included.
“Great location and close to major attraction sites. Super brand mall was only 10 min walk :)”
I have nothing more to say except I'm really picky when it comes to location and cleaness. And Oriental was the place to accomidate my needs
“Only fit for thin single traveler with no other choices”
Given the amount of great hotels in Shanghai, there is no reason to stay at this hotel. It is not an "international class" hotel and they must pander exclusively to the Chinese tourist crowd coming in on buses.
“Price attracted me”
Accommodation was OK. Restaurant and their service was not on expected level. Language knowledge is a problem on all levels as well. Hotel is at very convenient location and in my mind this is the biggest benefit.
