Lovely place, beautiful area, and wonderful hosts. They even had a disc golf setup in a cove of trees with some discs to borrow, perfect for some light practice. Highly recommend!

Super place! The bathrooms are shared but even though the hotel was fully booked, it never felt crowded, busy or dirty. It was very quiet and clean. Everybody was very respectful and nice. The breakfast was outstanding and generous with a great variety of options. We would stay here again!

Lovely guesthouse with friendly staff and a fab breakfast. We were in room 3 which is not really suitable for 2 guests. One side of the double bed is right up against the sloping ceiling, other rooms looked better suited. Also thousands of midges came into the room, I believe mozzy screens may be put up. Staff knew about this problem in this particular room. However all said, we had a lovely stay and will return next time we are in the area (but not in Room 3!!!)

Brita B&B was great. I would definitely stay there again. Everything was super clean and quiet. Staff was friendly. Close to Stefoss for food and dining. Sights not super far away.

I do not understand high reviews for this place. The house was built as a low-security women's prison in the 1980s and housed two women when it opened. Later, it was used as juvenile detention. We did not know this prior to staying. That vibe is still there. Rooms are small and old. You feel like you are in a dungeon. Our room was in basement, so I am not sure what are the rooms on the official website as all people were placed in the basement basically. Common room is also very dark and depressing. I would not recommend trying to sleep here. Someone turned on their ice cream truck to be charged overnight on the wall where we slept. Not possible to sleep at all.

Our photos for the rooms and facilities on the website are however correct for each room. We do embrace our heritage as a low security women’s prison as we even even have it on our website. What a lovely place to stay for a few nights! The location was perfect for exploring the south, but more than that, the accommodations were lovely. The space was very clean and homey, with a nice room and lovely common spaces. Breakfast was delicious and the owners worked hard to accommodate my diet. We saw the Northern Lights there! But more than that, the owners were kind and helpful and responsive. We loved our time with them and cannot recommend it enough!

I wished there was an employee to check me into the location. I would have preferred a top sheet on the bed and a cooler temperature would have been nice.

The common areas were nice. They had books to read, but very cold since they didn't have the heat on. They only had a small heater next to one of the chairs. The only thing that made this stay very negative was when I went to throw away a paper bag, as I was checking out in the front door area, and I believe it was the owner that questioned me. He had asked me if I threw a way a bottle and I said no it is a paper bag. He said that it was just for bottles and there weren't any signs that said it was just for bottles. He then went to check and so I offered to take my paper bag out because I could tell he was bothered by it. He then said we will take care of it at night. I didn't like that I was being confronted like that when we have paid to stay there. If there was a sign, I would have not out my paper bag in the trash can.

Bitra Bed & Breakfast property located short drive from Selfoss town in southern Iceland. Bitra Guesthouse located near road 1 with proximity to golden circle attractions. Bitra also features private parking, and breakfast. Breakfast selection was great and similar to other guest houses we stayed at in Iceland with oatmeal/cereal, toasts, eggs, cheese, hams, tomatoes, cucumbers, coffee, tea and juices. Breakfast was fulfilling and starts at 7:30 am sharp. Comparing to other guest house we stayed at in Iceland, our room was marginal quality and old. Floors squeaking, loud doors. Bed mattress appeared deformed and worn out. Bed sheets and towels were in a decent usable condition. Bathrooms and showers are in shared common area. Bathroom on 2nd floor was dirty with broken shower, empty old shampoo bottles, soaking wet rug, hair and water all over the bathrooms floor. Surprisingly staff onsite did not even bother to check and clean the bathroom/shower area during our stay. Hope Bitra staff will address bathrooms and shower condition and cleanliness issue. As mentioned above, Bitra located near road 1, which is major noisy road, you will need to close the window to block out the road noise for a night.

Don’t stay here.
Stayed in four different locations on this trip. This place was really a let down. It was expensive by comparison with others but the room, whilst spacious, was basic and the bathroom very shabby with exposed wires and very tired fittings. The place overall needs a complete make over. I definitely would not stay there again and I’m not particularly precious. The bed was not comfortable at all. We took the food option which was terrible. It was tepid student food and overpriced. Basically fish and mashed potato mixed together heated up ( it completely) and turned out on a plate. When I checked later what we paid for this room with en-suite, it was terrible value for money. More like a hostel than a B and B or hotel. The owner really needs to go and see what the general standard should be like. Overall, I was surprised that the rooms in Iceland were not better than they are, but this was one of those places you just don’t want to be.

Great place to stay.
The stay was very enjoyable. The included morning breakfast was very good. We payed for a great dinner the wasn't that expensive. We got some good pictures of the horses around the yard. Rooms were clean and service great.

There is a generally good feel in the spacious common areas of this house set in a lovely country location. Stay is hampered by small rooms, few and distant bathrooms and a very poor quality expensive dinner. Choice of tough leather like lamb or smelly deep frozen salmon.

It's nice that this property is outside the city. Lots of stars and no road noise. As far as properties that feel like private-room hostels, this is a very nice place to stay. Breakfast is good, and the staff were friendly and interesting.

3/5 - Was OK. Some positives: Room was clean and a bit tight on space, but sufficient for a one night sleeps. They also provided some fun board games and internet - which we appreciated. Included breakfast was good, similar options to other hotels in Iceland. Staff friendly and helpful. A few cars had a bit of trouble getting out of a snowdrift in the driveway in the morning. Staff worked really hard to tow them out and create a path for all our cars to leave safely in the morning. Some negatives: The walls of our room were very thin and I had a hard time falling asleep as my neighbour was snoring and I could easily hear it. Bathrooms also needed a bit of through cleaning, as the showers had some mold around the top of the ceilings. I recommend bringing flip flops. Finally, not the most comfortable pillows - but as I mentioned, ok for one sleep. NOTE: this house is on a hill and semi-plowed (like most guesthouses). Non 4x4 cars will have a bit of trouble getting up the hill.
