This is a visually uninviting hostel. The entire building except for bathrooms is painted in an extremely dark grey color. Rooms are very dark dark and dingy. This place is basically inaccessible for physically disabled people due to a steep set of stairs in the entry way and then to be greeted at the top of the stairs with bags of dirty laundry. Beds are horrible. The mattresses are in such bad condition and have a slope that you basically slide out of bed. Only one chair for a two bed room. There are no staff here. In a nutshell this place is not worthy to be listed in Expedia. I can only assume the ratings are fake. This is more of a 4/10 vs 8/10 as listed.

Super clean and easy. Free parking about 2 blocks away by the Troll. Every door needs a code to get in so felt super safe. People and staff where awesome, helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again.

A bit of a mixed review really. The good stuff- location is amazing, bathrooms and common areas really clean, bed super comfy , black out blinds very effective. The bad- aside from the odd cleaner it's completely unstaffed, there's nobody at a desk to ask questions, provide a little security or just to generally be around to get advice off, basically making this place an AirBNB (without the housing crisis guilt) - bedroom, almost all the walls were black meaning even with the lights all on it was super dark and sometimes hard to find your stuff Sink in the bedroom had a very very loose tap that wobbled all over the place The corners of the room wherever the carpet met the walls had thick ingrained dust, we also noticed a water bottle under the bed so that obviously hadn't been cleaned. Old lockers had been left in the room, I'm assuming from when it was a hostel. These were pretty dusty and horrible inside so we didn't use them for storage. Whilst an AC unit was in the room it wasn't attached to the retrofitted window outlet and we didn't know how to correctly fit it, so it got no use and we had the windows open instead. Fine the first couple of nights but not fine the last one when the bars and food places downstairs got busy! So it's super convenient, great bed, good kitchen and bathrooms, could be cleaner, have a bit more paint and most importantly have somebody around to at least acknowledge your existence!

Chris with hotel hotel hostel always returned my phone calls and emails. Everything went just as planned with no problems. The hostel was very clean. There was a communal kitchen and communal bathrooms that were also very clean. Nothing great looking about the rooms but this is a hostel not a hotel. Good restaurants nearby that are walkable and the busses and train aren't too far. Stayed here before boarding a cruise and it was an easy drive to port. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed on a Friday night. It is right on the main street of Freemont, & of course it has a night life. So not the quietest... But a unique place to stay for a reasonable amount.

Booked this room, and I wasn’t sure how hostels worked. I asked the property if I booked a room with a private bathroom, they said no but they would upgrade my room. I get there, with the access code to the room I was booked in. I get in there and it was clearly in use. The bed was not made, used towels in the bathroom, phone chargers and other items. They said that the room wasn’t to be a late checkout. That said, why had they not changed the access code to the door?

I am very sorry for your experience. As we message we have authorized a full refund for your experience. We do apologize for the confusion. For our readers: The confusion was on the room request change from a shared bath to an ensuite bath. All bookings made through Expedia/Hotels.com are private rooms with a shared bath. The guest made the request for an en suite bath on the day of arrival which we accommodated. However, the room was a late check out and not ready for the guest at their arrival time. The door code does advance regardless of the status of the room based on the departure and arrival time. We did offer the guest another room to switch to but they decided to cancel with our offer of a full refund. We have updated out policies and procedures to insure this will not happen again.

Hotel is holding on alright. It was clean but our room was very chilly!! We couldn't seem to get heat to come out of our radiator. :( They had extra blankets on site, which was helpful. Our wooden blinds were broken, but they had a black out curtain thankfully.

Walls are painted black, but you could still see finger prints and grease stains on walls, not very well lit, room did not look clean ( bed was made but stains on sheets, and trash visible on carpet) with he black walls and limited light it was hard to see, but what was visible was not attractive. No way to control heat in private room. The bathrooms had bath mats in them, but not excess mats, previously used bath mats available. For the price it wasn’t horrible but you get what you pay for

I am writing this message to thanks for the hotel's service and facilities. It was way above my expectations. I've been to many hostels in Europe and South America. I didn't expect such a nice place. My special thanks to Chris who was always available to help me. Also, the neighborhood is amazing, all kinds of restaurants and stores, from Arabic food, Asian food to my favorite pizzas right across the street! I really recommend it, you can go through the neighborhood which is really cool. And the price is more than fair, cheap, for the excellence of the place.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

No in person staff, they text or email you details, which as someone who prefers not to talk to others, I liked this method better. Had a staff on duty everyday that went around cleaning bathrooms, kitchen, rooms, etc. Communal kitchen and several bathrooms with shower areas for a single individual at a time. It's cozy and quite dim. Rooms were small but not suffocating. Room had basic needs and functions, ie. mini fridge, two lamps per bed (I had the twin bed room), sink, mirror, water boiler, outlets, window, ac and heater, table, chair. Neighbors were not loud. Lots of walkable food places right next door or across or even five minute walks away. Bus stops nearby. A two minute walk from the 62 bus that takes you straight to downtown Seattle. Pretty good and quiet neighborhood, went on a couple walks, the scenery was nice. The Fremont Troll is nearby. Need a code to get into the building itself and the doors on the rooms have codes that you get sent the day before. I'd say security was solid. Only complaint I would have is I found a couple of stains on my blanket. One was small, one was about the length of my finger and a little smaller in width. It was red. Personally, I was not too concerned about it myself. Overall, if you're not looking for anything too fancy that covers all your basic needs, I'd recommend.

My husband, two-year-old, and I stayed here Fri/Sat and loved it! We got the king size bed with shared bathroom (room 9) and it was spectacular. It was super easy to get into our room which had everything we needed and more. There were earplugs at the front desk which I though was a nice touch. I went into two different bathrooms during our stay (there was never a point when we couldn’t get into a bathroom) and one was enormous and one was regular size. The king bed was insanely comfortable and the room was the perfect temperature. There was a great restaurant immediately below us and lots of other food options within just a few blocks. There was a ton to do within walking distance, and seeing the troll under the bridge is △⃒⃘lways fun. My husband △⃒⃘lways wakes up way before our toddler and I do, so he found an electric scooter to rent and went on a super fun morning adventure where he saw all sorts of rad things. We went to the zoo after checking out and we were pleasantly surprised that it was right down the street! We didn’t have any expectations for our stay and had an outstanding experience. We’re definitely going to stay here every time we visit Seattle.

The check was super easy. I was able to check before the stated time on Hotel.com. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but got the job done. The carpet in the room needs a good cleaning. Overall cleanliness in the hostel was really good. It was a great value.

Funky yet cozy. Some music coming from the restaurant below but stopped at 10pm. Room needs better lighting, had ugly overhead light and the other lights were more like candles. No way to read with those lights. The bathrooms and showers were clean. The bed was big and comfortable. The room was nice but a bit dark. The window shades were broken but there were also curtains which did work. The area is fun and lots of cool shops and restaurants. Id stay here again.

Located in a great neghborhood, made this an OK stay but it wasn't very clear to me that the bathrooms and showers were down the hall from each room. I would not have stayed here had I realized there wasn't a private restroom and shower in the room.

Great stay
Bed was comfortable and a pretty nice stay if you are used to staying in hostels in Europe. Certain rooms have a loud thai restaurant below them, so go to sleep after 10. Staff was helpful via text. And neighborhood was hip, although parking can be a challenge on weekends.
