Made reservation and paid via Expedia for one night to attend our daughter's senior event at URI. Checked in and room was sub-par (exposed conduit, wires pulling out from wall, old bedding). Toilet had zero flush pressure and would not even flush small amount of paper. Called front desk about toilet and was told, "it's just a slow-flush toilet; you'll need to hold the handle down.". That didn't work, so I went to the front desk as we were trying to get ready for an event. I was told at the front desk again that it was a 'slow-flush' toilet, to which I responded that it was a no-flush toilet.
They then said that "that room is notorious for that." Incredulous at that, I then asked for another room, which I was given. New room had updated bedding, brighter lighting and a pressure-assisted toilet tank. Night and day difference. If that ground floor room is "notorious" for having outdated/malfunctioning plumbing, it immediately made me wonder if that's the default room for inexpensive/Expedia bookings. Staff resolved the issue, but almost begrudgingly at first, telling me to be patient with the toilet that wouldn't flush. Overall, convenient and quiet location and satisfactory for our one-night stay.
