The hotel is exactly what I wanted! It’s unique and beautiful and incredibly convenient to everything in Old San Juan. I walked around and saw so much, felt very safe!

We loved our stay at Decanter. The hotel is so cute and boutique. The location is great if you want to explore old San Juan, which I recommend doing. The staff was so friendly and helpful. It’s a little noisy on the weekends, being so close to the party street, but we still loved it.

The hotel is located in a nice area in Old San Juan. It was close to restaurants and shops. The room was only refreshed once during my stay and we ran out of toilet paper. Daily room refreshers would have enhanced my stay at the hotel.

The staff was amazing. They had great suggestions on where to eat and what to see. I wanted a historical look at San Juan and I got exactly that. The food was incredible at the suggested places. I can’t wait to go back.

Nice hotel in the area. Excellent service and friendly staff. We got a complimentary bottle of Chardonnay, which was a pretty good bottle from California. The area might be a bit noisy, but ear plugs solve the problem. I slept for 12.5 hours after a long flight. What more can I expect from a hotel?

Excellent 2 night stay prior to our cruise. Staff very welcoming and informative. No problems checking in and were granted late check out. They also called a taxi for us. Would definitely stay here again. Decanter has a lot of character and give you the historical vibes of Old San Juan! Thank you so very much; it was so enjoyable & simply perfect.

I have never been somewhere where my expectations have been far surpassed!!! This started before I even went to the hotel. The hosts were already contacting me to assure that I was good to go and let me know what to do if I needed anything. There was a Fernando that really helped as well as the other staff who went above and beyond, even as far as reserving taxis for us during our stay. Our room was more than we could ask for. I didn't know the sofa bed was in a separate room, we felt like we were staying at an Airbnb! The location is smack dab in the center of Viejo San Juan, so if you plan to spend a lot of time there, pretty much everything is walking distance. It was perfect. Yes, behind the Decanter are a few bars so you do hear the last night crowds going home at night. A sleep sound machine we brought helped us avoid those noises! Oh and they have a great tapas and cocktail bar upstairs called El Cathedral! Give it a try!!! We hope to return soon!!! (I also wrote this on my Yelp : 5 Star Review)

From check in to the check out, the staff treated us like family. I really felt pampered, and that they really cared! Our room 301 had a magnificent view of the cathedral. It was air conditioned and the king bed was just the right amount of comfy. We particularly loved the rooftop bar, which became our hideaway. I couldn’t recommend this more. We don’t necessarily jump on the American style 4 star hotels, and prefer local owned and managed places that contribute directly to the local economy.

I've stayed at a few hotels in OSJ and I'd stay at this one again. > Front desk was very friendly and very helpful. They held my bags pre-check-in and post-check-out. I'd feel better if they were put away during that time, although they were behind the inner door. > Very clean. > My room had high windows, but had pretty good light in the daytime - wasn't like a cave. > Bathroom was a good size - shower was large and the water pressure was good, and the hot water was hot. Vanity had counter space (some other hotels did not) and there was a swing-arm magnifying mirror. > The room and the bathroom in particular could've benefitted from some brighter lighting when needed, especially by the vanity. They seemed receptive to the suggestion. > The rooftop bar is only open from Thursday through the weekend, but the roof is always available and I spent time up there stretching and meditating in the morning and writing at night. It looks south over the cathedral and toward the bay. > My room had two twin beds. The bed was comfortable but I'm guessing it was twinXL - long enough but narrow. I'd prefer wider, but I'm small so it wasn't really a problem for me. You might feel differently. > Location is great! Next to the cathedral, near the square with "4 Estaciones" cafe, busking musicians and the Poets Passage. Lots of restaurants near by - including Almacen (Argentinian) with amazing churrasco and desserts, and just a short walk from the arts museum and the Morro fort.

The room was well appointed loved having the purvate open terrace, my check in was delayed by about an hour un fortunately. But the staff was courteous and kind. And it is very noisey at night not the hotels fault it was the neighboring buildings they partied til.past 3am. It was a saturday night that could be why

Old San Juan has a shortage of hotel space, so the price value doesn’t seem to add up. $300 night for a somewhat rundown facility. No services. Not much usable public space. Rooftop has minimal shade, interior courtyard has an open roof that gets rained on and becomes unusable. Free coffee (machine) but the machine hardly worked. Compared to many other places and many other stays, there was little provided that would make me come back to this hotel and was a turn off for our old San Juan experience. The staff was friendly but it’s difficult to correct this price / value deficit

It is an older property, so expect things to be not as modern as you may want. Sheets and towels are due to be replaced soon, hopefully. The staff were very nice. The downstairs restaurant isn't part of the hotel, so no breakfast or lunch is available and you can't bill to your room. The staff there are also great. Didn't get a chance to go to the rooftop bar as that was reserved the night we were there for an event. Good location to walk around.

Hotel is located perfectly if you want to explore Old San Juan. Staff is very attentive and friendly. The room was clean, the beds were good and the bathroom as well. The only reason I rate this place with 4 stars is that the room we were in was quite loud - you could hear the noise from the street as if it was coming directly from the door, and as it rained pretty strong during our stay the roofers very noisy. If that doesn‘t bother you it is a very good place to stay.

We were placed in a room in the courtyard and next to ana elevator. There was so much noise and we couldn't sleep at all. TV was not working, asked front desk staff to come take a look but no one ever showed up. It was almost windowless since it was so much above the ground and curtains were drawn because it was facing the public area in courtyard. Location was great, room well kept, but if you want a quiet place this is not for you.

Great hotel in the middle of Old San Juan with a take on wine. In the middle of everything, very walkable to everything and very clean, comfy rooms. We got the queen with the terrace which was great in the evening and the morning watching the parrots fly around. Best part was the staff. Met all 3 shifts and all of them, where helpful, happy, and upbeat. Would definitely stay here again. Don't take a car down here. Uber or taxi.

The staff were a delight! Friendly and helpful. The roof top view was beautiful. It was our go-to place for coffee in the morning. Too bad the bar is open only Thurs-Sun. Ditto for the restaurant. The room lighting was dark, which made it difficult to read at night.

The Decanter was wonderful however there was a plumbing issue. The staff was fabulous and really went out of their way to get us room in another hotel. It was very very nice just not in old san juan. Super nice Hilton and brand new. Wish we could have stayed with our friends. But again the decanter staff went out of their way to make us happy and we really appreciate the effort. We are returning to the decanter later in the week for an overnight stay.
