This is an amazing find! Let's start with the OK before the Great. OK are the location (not central, but within walking distance to Center, and very convenient to the train station with an easy short walk even with a rollerboard), and the building is very modern and has no style. Still some restaurant options nearby including a Thai (did not try) and an Austrian (Weiserhof - my favorite!) within a 5-min walk.
Now, here is what's great. First the service. Martin, the owner, went out of his way to give me directions on what to do and see based on my tastes, and explained the Salzburg Card - which is a great deal if you are planning on visiting several sites (of course!) Then the room: it's like a one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen, and the bedroom is really large; and the bed is so comfortable! I was on the 3rd floor and was able to leave the windows open all the time - a great plus for me.
Everything is new, so it all works really well! Breakfast: several choices, both savory and sweet - and great coffee! And if you want an omelette or scrambled eggs, they make it to order!
Overall, this was a great find: quiet, comfortable, close to the train station (easy to catch an early train or bus to go to Hallstatt), and oh-so-friendly!
