very nice place, a little disappointed in the room
this is a very nice quiet hotel, but there are a few things useful to know.....avoid room one which has no aircon working and is a bit dark. most rooms don't have a sea view and the road is a bit dirty. book well in advance as they get busy. the restaurant is great and the staff are very attentive at all times.

Beautiful peaceful oceanfront hotel
Beautiful setting. Huge spacious room with brilliant ocean view. Comfortable bed. All plumbing works consistently well. Great location with lovely walk into town. Gripe: many ‘rules’ and rather unfriendly staff largely detract from notion of hospitality. Breakfast food often ran low, selection somewhat uninteresting.

Quiet and comfortable hotel
Comfortable hotel at the opposite end of Santa Maria to the big resorts, by the windsurfing beach and 10 mins walk to the centre of town (don't let that put you off as well lit and safe). Room was big. Hotel and room kept spotlessly clean. Breakfast choice is ok but might become boring if there longer than a week, evening meal we tried was delicious (and always some live music in the evening which is nice). Pool was pretty cold at the end of Feb but didnt stop me from having a daily dip. Great cocktails poolside! Staff we're clearly getting ready for summer repainting and deep cleaning every part of the hotel over the week we were there. They really work hard to keep it in good appearance.

"Budha" is a right name for the hotel , its a very quiet nice place , a bit away from big beaches and town crowds but within walking distance from all the "life", so we enjoyed a lot the calm chilling afternoon near the pool after busy days . People in the hotel are very nice , the manager Armanda was the top, she always was welcoming, warm and helpful whenever we needed. Loved the place and recommend.

Fine hotel with great staff.
We stayed in a suite which I measured to be about 15x5.5 meters. Simply huge. The breakfast was great and the staff in the restaurant was just so friendly and kind. At the reception we had the pleasure to talk with all the people on duty. Great people. Special thanks to Armanda for her unique way to interact with the guests. If you’re considering this hotel, don't let the 800 meters to the center of Santa Maria keep you from booking it. The distance is easily walked or a taxi can pick you up or take you for 2-3 euros. The small beach behind the hotel has a lot of rocks, but the one 200 meters away by the fitness equipment is great. All in all a great experience and I highly recommend this hotel.

Loved Budha Hotel. The room and bathroom was clean and spacious! Melanie and Amanda really went beyond and above to accommodate us. The breakfast was made to order and delicious! We were a 15 minute walk to beaches, shops and restaurants. They had plenty of pool lounge chairs and beds. They even helped us book a last minute excursion! I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sal.

Hotel was impossible to call or connect with. Awful customer service. Clearly didn't want our business, only our money. Lost money and was very poorly treated. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Amazing hotel, food and location. Located at the quiet end of the hotel strip with a beautiful pool, clean cabanas, and on the beach. Also only a 5 minute walk to all of the other restaurants, shops and bars in town. Although, we found the food at the hotel to be even better than that of the other restaurants, and at the same price. We also opted for the late checkout for the midnight flight back to Lisbon.

The hotel and surrounding area was immaculate. Safe and sound with just a 10 minute walk into town. I’d walk late at night and never felt danger. More importantly there was always security there to greet me when I returned. The food was good and the staff was sweet!

Beautiful restful stay with no children at the hotel which made it very peaceful and relaxing.... staff were amazing and food was really good and presentation was excellent. Ideal spot for my partner who kitesurfs as only 10 min ride to kite beach by taxi (10 Euros return). Ten min walk to centre of town.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is not luxurious but clean, comfortable and very quiet. Only negative is maybe the restaurant for diner: a bit overpriced compared to other restaurants in Santa Maria and the quality wasn't always there.

I booked a room with a Sea View but did not get a room facing the sea. Instead it was facing a fairly run down street. I was also messaged a day before my stay telling me that they could not offer me a room even though I already paid for it which really panicked me.

Good hotel but resort overall poor
Good hotel but poor location at end of dirt track and surrounded by half built shabby housing. Sal is great if you like water sports but otherwise there is very little to do and even less to see. Staff were all courteous.

Great location close to sea and town - but out of the main town and just 10 minutes really lovely walk into town. Staff very friendly and made us so welcome. Loved the pool and comfy bedroom. Would definitely recommend getting room with balcony or terrace facing the sea.

Brilliant Buddha Beach
Our stay at The Buddha Beach made the holiday in Santa Maria for us. Our welcome set the tone, and the staff in all other hotel departments from restaurant to cleaning and maintenance were a credit to themselves. This small resort oozes quality with staff who are obviously proud to be working there and clearly want to make your visit one to remember. The views from our room, which was very comfortable, were magnificent, If we return to Sante Maria, Buddha Beach will be our first choice for our stay.

Beautiful Calm Hotel
What a lovely place! I just came back from a solo trip to relax, and relax I did. Santa Maria can be a bit busy at times and many of the other Hotels are in the midst of that. Hotel Budha Beech is only short walking distance away but many more in terms of how peaceful it is! The whole team made my experience amazing: the fastidious cleaning, the amazing food, the fantastic staff, the comfortable room (with an enormous bed), very chilled pool area, and the tranquil surroundings, really top marks all round! Would love to return sometime!

So zen! Outstanding staff, food. Beautiful.
We loved our stay at the Budha Beach. The moment we arrived we fell completely into relax mode. "No Stress" is the island's motto, and this hotel exemplifies it. Low key, helpful staff, great food and drink, comfortable. Best tuna tartar on the island too. Natural beach surroundings, close to gorgeous beaches. Great experience. Thanks Budha Beach!

Lovely staff, great food, great facilities.
We had a fantastic week here in February, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, the food was excellent and facilities were fine. Room was very nice, spacious, big comfortable bed, lovely shower room. We spent time by the pool, in the restaurant and on the terraces, just a lovely place to be, lazing around enjoying being next to the sea watching the windsurfers. The location is on the edge of Santa Maria, so it's a ten minute walk into centre of town, though the nearest shop and restaurant are closer. Taxi is cheap, 2 euro if you don't fancy the walk. We had bead and breakfast at the hotel so enjoyed going into town to try different restaurants. We ate at the hotel as well, really nice food and different to most of what is on offer in Santa Maria. A bit more expensive than some places but worth it. It was a perfect holiday for us, but I think some people might find it different to bigger more developed resorts in Spain, Greece etc. The staff don't all speak much English, so anything complicated can take a while to communicate. they are helpful though so it's never a bother and will find someone with better English if needed. There is not a lot in Sal in terms of tourist attractions and things may seem a bit rough around the edges compared to more developed resorts. but the people are authentic, and I loved the musicians, guitar based Portuguese songs with Brazilian and Caribbean influences, plus African drummers down on the beach.

Great place to stay if you need to relax !
My wife and I stayed here for 2 weeks and overall we enjoyed the experience. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the main town, which suited us as we wanted to get some exercise. The beach immediately next to the hotel is not suitable for swimming and the area surrounding the hotel is quite barren but very safe and ideal for walking.

Fantastic. Room was Massive RM 20 good food great and friendly staff. Just a great place to stay and relax. Rent a quad for a day and see the island brilliant.

Great stay at boutique hotel
Really enjoyed staying here and for what we wanted it was probably the best pick. At the other end of santa maria, its away from the big loud all inclusive resorts and has only 20-30 guests. Quiet, relaxing and clean, it was great for young couples or small group of friends. The resort isn't quite complete, they are still missing some lounge cushions and in some corners appears unfinished but otherwise looks new and clean. Beach is rocky but a 5 minute walk to sandy parts. Pool is great Food was fantastic (not cheap but no where is in sal), particularly the seafood sushi/tempura and croquettes, and cocktails were good. Air con was a godsend and the beds were huge and very comfortable. Bathrooms were lovely and rooms were cleaned daily.

Beautiful quiet hotel
We enjoyed it very much!!! The location is quiet and most relaxing. The pool is lovely and we preferred not to be at the main beach. We rather walk the 10 minutes and enjoy the calming atmosphere of the hotel. The staff is so lovely and helpful. The food is amazing but the restaurant a bit 'clinical', very bright and a bit cold atmosphere. We definitely would love to come back!!!

When we got to the hotel they told us it was over booked but they would put us up in a sister hotel even though we had paid up front. Well it must av been the ugly sister hotel. It was more like a hostel no facilities no food, a noisy taxi rank out side and dogs barking all night. We never got a winks sleep and left the 1st thing next morning and found a really nice hotel away from that rough area .

The hotel is located quite far away from the center of Santa Maria. As such, it is very quiet and the only noise you can hear in the night is the waves’ one. The staff is very kind and professional. Few cons: no buffet breakfast, no conditioner in the showers and the street to get there is not ideal.
