Had to change rooms due to the disgusting state of the room and bathroom. Tiny flies all over the bathroom ceiling. The room floor was sticky. Had to buy an extra pair of discardable flip flops just to walk around the room and bathroom.

The place where it is seated is gorgeous. Plus: amazing and clean installations. Phyto-herbs shampoos, soap, and hair conditioner...tasty breakfast! The crew is handful and proactive.

In front of water, seemed a safe area. Property was however, very very dated with few good amenities and not kept clean (pool) regularly. Bed was poor quality and overall room layout and design was uncomfortable

Ótima localização. Péssima experiência no check-in, somente um funcionário no atendimento, duas tentativas de 1h cada para conseguir pegar as chaves. Aguardando com as crianças cansadas após uma viagem cansativa. O principal objetivo era relaxar, mas a primeira experiência com o hotel já foi péssima. Outras pessoas já haviam comentado sobre isso e a resposta do hotel é que naquele momento havia um alto índice de hóspedes, vim em dois horários diferentes e o problema se repete.

Poor experience
The hotel need to be renovated rooms very old, curtains with holes and wall peeling. Also I had to cha ge rooms because my 1st room was very dirty in the was and with an infestation of ants and I was in the third floor. The staff is friendly but the rooms are very small and not comfortable at all.

I had à réservation for three night, but thé second night I was bited by fleas. I talked about it to the desk and people was laughing. I said I quit the hôtel and they asked my Card to pay the garage. I never had my invoice.

The hotel is in a great location overlooking the beach. It is very clean and well maintained. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast selection (buffet) is plentiful. Beach towels and beach chairs are available for free to hotel guests. They allow early check-in and late check-out. We were very happy with our hotel choice and would come back here any time.

I will go back for a vacation next time
Staff, location, food. and amenities where superior. I had traveled for business so location was of importance. What I did find was an excellent hotel across the street from the beach and centrally located. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful (but I had that feeling from all the Brazilians I met). The breakfast wasn't limited to a 1 hour window like most places I have traveled to but a more realistic early start and leisurely late close. I could go on but have to get back to work.

A modern hotel on the beach, close to Rio
The hotel is what I have come to expect of a Novotel. It is fairly new, with a modern design. The rooms are comfortable, but efficient. The bed is comfortable, and there is a desk suitable for writing postcards home. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Most rooms have a partial view of the ocean: if you look out the window and to the left, you can see the beach and the water. This was convenient because I could see if the surf was calm or rough before leaving the room. If you look straight out, you see a Windsor hotel about 100 meters or so next door. The hotel is right on the beach in Barra da Tijuca. It is not quite in Rio, according to the locals. Even so, it is a good location, as you can get from your room to the water in about five or ten minutes. The hotel restaurant serves a generous breakfast. You can either book with breakfast included or pay as you go. Coming from Michigan, I was most taken by the deliciously ripe fresh fruit they had every day. There are a few restaurants walking distance from the hotel. Others are a short taxi or Uber ride away. Across from the hotel are various barraca bars, where you can have a beer or a caipirinha and a bite to eat while watching the waves and enjoying the beach. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful, even though we didn't speak Portuguese and they spoke no English.

Ok but too crammed for 4 people
I liked everything about this hotel except for this: There is this "kids stay free" offer (for children up to 16 years). The room featured a queen size bed and a supposedly double sofa bed. I would only recommed such arrangement for children up to 12 maybe. There is no way 2 teenagers can share that bed. One of our kids ended up sleeping on the floor. We asked for an extra cover, they had none... We were 4 guests in the room, we had to ask for towels and toiletries more than once. The rest was perfect, front desk staff very well trained. Employees at the bar a bit too relaxed, but ok. Example: you asked for a cup of coffee and they did not bring you napkins or sugar until you asked for it. I would go back nevertheless.

Nice hotel in a Great Barra Location
The Novotel Hotel on Av. Lucio Costa is right across the street from the beautiful Barra da Tijuca beach and conveniently located just a few minutes by taxi from the Barra commercial area including the excellent Barra Shopping Center with lots of restaurants and the new office areas around it. This area is very safe for walking and it is easy to get a taxi or bus to the Barra Shopping or the Alvorada bus terminl where you can get a bus to anywhere in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Just be aware that if you want to go downtown or to the other tourist areas such as Pao de Acucar, Corcovado, Copacabana or Ipanema, you will need to allow at least an hour for traffic. The hotel itself is new and comfortably furnished. If you have a room in the front of the hotel the view is fantastic. Be sure to check out the view from the rooftop lounge at night and have a drink while you are there. The breakfast is adequate for the hotel price but there are better buffets in the area but they will cost you a lot more. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone who has business in the Barra Shopping area but wants a hotel on the beach for the relaxation on business travel.

Brilliant staff and hotel
The staff here were incredible! They were all so friendly, I felt welcomed by all. We stayed for a few days, and I'm so glad we did. We stayed to unwind and relax and we really could do that here. Nothing was an issue for them here.

Hotel for work or for a conference near by
I choose this hotel because i have a conference at Riocentro (40 min from the hotel) and i went with my husband so he wont get bored if is close to the beach. The hotel is in front of the beach where you can jog or walk or Just enjoy the beach. The best of the hotel was the breakfast: lot of fruits, omelettes or scramble eggs, cheese, croissants and different kind of sweet or salt breads, also coffee or tea, and natural juices. The wifi works perfect. There is a pool a little bit cold and a sauna, also a good equipment to exercise in the gym. The staff in general are kind: speaks spanish and english. There is an extracharge to use the parking, but you can also use the parking lot in front of the beach. There is a bus (LECD10) that you can take in front of the hotel and goes to the closest mall Barra Shopping.

Best hotel in Rio de Janiero!
We were very impressed with the level of service we received at the Novotel Rio De Janeiro Barra Da Tijuca. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The rooms were clean and the shower was awesome. The breakfast also was very good. The only complaint we had was the 5th floor hallway (where we stayed) had a very strange odor that wasn't too pleasant, but it didn't carry into the rooms, and it was isolated to that floor - so that doesn't affect this review. The roof pool was a little dissapointing in being about 10' wide and less than 3' deep, but we didn't use it anyway due to the temperature. Room was a tad small, but this may be normal for Brazil. Otherwise this was a great hotel that offered parking and had a great beach side location with views of the ocean. In my opinion, the best hotel we could have chose in the Rio area! Would definitely stay here again.

I will stay here again and again, the location and staff very friendly and willing to help in every way, is a bussines type hotel but it gives you everything you need, breakfast, room service anytime, very accommodate it, we asked for a late check up, no problem, and upgrade no problem!! I will recommend this hotel. a happy customer.
