Lovely cottages in fabulous forest setting
Anne and Ral are wonderful hosts. We were welcomed with a decadent gift of homemade cakes and a bottle of Prosecco. The location is secluded and magical- great walks from the cottages. We saw a white buck at the front gate.

Lovely, quiet and comfortable
Thanks Anne and Ral What a lovely break for new year in a remote New Forest cottage. Ideal for walks, mountain biking and generally chilling out- cottage is clean, well equipped and comfy. Will defo stay again. Hosts are lovely and left is to it - most helpful was the ability to charge my EV on site as well. We had shocking weather but it didn’t matter - a lovely cottage in a lovely part of the world. The oil heating is robust and we spent most of the time with it off as it gets very warm quickly and we didn’t need it. Highly recommended

Cute cottage
We had a lovely stay here. The hosts were fantastic and communication was great. The house was well stocked for everything we needed. The bed was small for two adults but we knew the size before we arrived. And there were a lot of (harmless) flying bugs around.

Hi Benjamin , thank you for your review. The harmless bugs you refer to were mosquitoes. It’s been a year for them this year, after all we live in the middle of a forest . The stables were thoroughly sprayed before your stay . They enter when the lights are on and the windows are open. That’s why we put fly spray in the property for your use. Kind regards Anne

Wonderful Location
This was exactly what we had been looking for! Comfortable accommodation with privacy and in a beautiful location. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here, and I think our dog enjoyed it even more. Great walks on the doorstep and a very nice 30 minute walk away from roads down into Burley for nice pubs and cafes. Also recommend a visit to the local store and trying some of the local butchers products. The property was comfortable and clean with a nice outdoor area which we enjoyed. We would definitely recommend a visit :)

Lovely location, perfect get away cottage
Anne is the perfect host and made us very welcome. We had a great family get together, walking the forest and visiting the coast. The cottage made a great base to do that.

Fantastic property in amazing location with lovely owner!
Thank you to Anne the owner, for a fantastic stay in your lovely house, in an amazing location in the woods. The house was very clean and very well maintained, simple check in process and a huge chocolate cake and bottle of fizz welcomed our arrival. It's also a lovely stroll through the woods to the center of Burley with its pubs/restaurants, cafes and well stocked shop. Plus all the shops and supermarkets in nearby Ringwood. Wonderful property in a superb location
Had a fantastic two night stay with family. Anne couldn’t have been more helpful with the booking and directions and the cottage itself is beautiful, homely with every comfort you could wish for. The location is stunning, beautifully quiet but not by any means “remote” with walks out on to the Forest straight from the door. Saw numerous wild horses and even a deer joining them in the field. Thank you Anne for making us feel so welcome and also for the cake and wine which we forgot to thank you for at the time! We can’t wait to stay again. Kevin and family.

Our stable stay
Beautiful conversion, this stable is clean, light, airy, well furnished, comfortable and contains everything one could need for a stay. There was wine and a cake to greet us and a welcoming note. Lovely hosts. We would definitely visit again and highly recommend this beautiful place.

Beautiful property in a lovely area
We’ve just had a fantastic time staying in The Stables. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. It was lovely to be able to walk straight out of the gates and enjoy the New Forest surroundings including all the animals. Anne was welcoming and very helpful. Our 3 year old kept saying “I love our holiday house!” The teenagers were particularly happy that the broadband worked so well! We plan on making a return visit.

Burley retreat!
Fantastic location….just go out through large property gates and you’re in the heart of the forest. Lovely, neat property with all you need for a great break away. Anne is a great host. Just there when required.

Family staycation
An idyllic spacious comfortable cottage with everything you need. We were a 3 generation family and it suited us perfectly. Anne (the owner) is lovely and very helpful. The cottage is peaceful, with walks right on your doorstep, straight into the Forest and attractions within a short drive away. We will definitely stay again.

Outstanding location, lovely cottage
We had a great family holiday here. We loved going for walks locally - both straight from the house and with a very short drives. Excellent location for getting to great days out. We would recommend and would be keen to stay again.

Beautiful Setting!
Very clean property with extras left for our convenience which we appreciated. Out door eating possible and we moved the table into the sunshine, heaven. The only complaints were :- My sister in law said her mattress on her single bed was lumpy and she could feel the springs, the owner said she would definitely look at it. We stayed in the eaves and there is no window in the room which made it stuffy and a bit claustrophobic. There is strangely a glass door in the room that leads to a sheer drop, but safe. The room would definitely benefit for that to be changed to a window that opened. Ok for 2 nights but wouldn’t want to sleep in the room for longer. Overall a really lovely stay.

So sorry your stay was mixed. The door upstairs that is locked is for your safety and was a requirement for planning as we had to maintain the character of the property and there was always a door there . Sorry if it was inconvenient for you. Upstairs there is a large window that opens for ventilation. So sorry you didn’t notice it. Beautiful Location, Cottage and Animals
The property was spotless and spacious. Anne was very welcoming and only to happy to help with our questions. The location in the woods was magical and perfect for exploring Burley and its surrounds. Some fine pubs within easy driving distance and with excellent food. Fabulous place for a family break or retreat for couples and friends. Having said all that - what made the location truly adorable was the horses, pigs and cattle roaming freely - the children loved this. Would definately return and recommend to friends.

Lovely location and property! The hosts communicated with us on a regular basis and clarified any misgivings we had with regards to Covid cleanliness etc and anything else. The cottage itself well situated and our only suggestion would be that the kitchen better equipped with utensils etc. Otherwise it’s faultless! Thank you Anne for a lovely weekend!

Stylish accommodation in idyllic setting
A delightful short break in the New Forest. Host Anne was charming, warm and friendly. The stables are part of a beautiful private estate. Lovely stay
We had a wonderful stay at the Stables. Some absolutely amazing walks on our door step. We saw lots of ponies and deer very close to the property which was perfect for our three small children. It was a really comfortable, clean and cosy cottage and we look forward to returning to stay one day soon.

A mixed experience. Brilliant location. Accommodation quality could be improved, clean and tidy
The self-contained Stables are set within the grounds of an impressive house with beautiful gardens in a beautiful location in Burley. Listed dog friendly, the wholly gravelled fenced exterior is small and not particularly dog or people friendly. Given the setting, overall both the interior & exterior could benefit from a little more thought/tlc/investment - individual toiletries, shower basket, towel rails, decent coffee capsules, trays, clean outside seat cushions, pegs, decent double bed & mattress, blackout blinds/lined curtains, operable TV channels/networks (no Netflix or Sky). V large main gates with tricky fastening were to be kept shut at all times but at 5"3", I could not operate them which was annoying. Understandably nervous about our safety and Covid precautions, we didn't appreciate the lecture upon arrival and were swiftly (possibly rudely) shown the door for being 15 mins late for an earlier than usual agreed 10am departure. We appreciated the wine and chocolates. Not entirely sure why these people are renting out.

Im sorry that you disliked your stay so much, you are the first person ever in all the 20 years I’ve been well coming guests to our home to express such comments. You and your husband came for a two night stay and were vexed when you arrived 3 hours early not to be admitted to the property because they were still being cleaned. The 10am departure time is there to enable us time to clean the properties in these Covid times, although you expressed doubt on the risk of Covid and found our stringent cleaning unnecessary and you were reluctant to leave. We have many regulars that come and enjoy their stay so much they have been visiting us for years and all enjoy the high standard of accommodation provided. At the same time of your visit I had a lady from London who was staying for 3 weeks and following is her review: Anne’s Cottages are in a magical location in one of the best parts of the New Forest . There is a beautiful patio garden. We spent three weeks there on holiday and we were very comfortable and made to feel right at home. As we drove away I was already thinking when I could come back. Thank you Anne for being a generous kind and thoughtful host. All I can suggest that in future you might prefer a city break for your weekends away. Kind regards Anne

New Year in the New Forest!
A wonderful few days over the New Year in a beautiful location. The accommodation was clean, warm and spacious and Anne made us very welcome. Communication regarding travel arrangements beforehand was first class, and then when we were met by Anne, her husband and a bottle of champagne, we knew we had selected the perfect place to spend New Year. Burley is a magical place and I never get tired of visiting. Happy New Year!!

Stunning location, warm reception
We and our dogs had a wonderful time here in spite of the wet weather. Nestled in the forest, the location provided beautiful walks among the animals roaming free. Anne was so welcoming and helpful. I would unreservedly recommend this stay.

The perfect break
The property is situated in the grounds of a very large house in the forest on the edge of Burley. It is a very well appointed property with everything one needs for a relaxing and peaceful break. it is ideal if you are taking your dog/s with you as the main entrance leads directly out into the forest and is not close to any main roads. The layout and accommodation is well equipped and ideal for both able and the not so able, the location is perfect for exploring the forest or a relaxing break.

Lovely cottage in the forest
Really nice clean property, direct forest access so easy to walk out of the door and into the woods, seeing deer and horses regularly. Also only a 30 min walk on footpaths into Burley. Everything worked and Anne, whose communication was excellent, provided a cot and high chair so we didn’t have to traipse them all the way over in the car. We all had a great time!!

Beautiful week in Burley New Forest
The property was beautiful, clean and had everything needed. Heating and plenty of hot water. Really quiet and in a lovely location. Short drive to the town but near everything. 10 min drive from a supermarket. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. Sleeps 6 comfortably with 2 toilets a sep shower and lovely bath. Has little perks, like soap wash in all bathrooms and kitchen, and a nice bottle of wine and chocolates on our welcome.

What a fabulous place to stay in the New Forest. Situated within 10 miles of Lyminton, Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst, it provides a central base. The Stables is very cosy and with a fully supplied kitchen was like home from home. Plenty of down stairs space for our lab to feel comfortable. We certainly will be recommending to friends and family .
