“Delightful Old Hotel”

If I go back to Riga, I will stay here again, 100%. The staff are very nice, the restaurant (though it doesnt look like much) was great. The room was small, but clean. The only downside is no elevator, but hey, it's an old hotel and its only like 5 stories, so man up.

Clean, comfortable and convenient. Perfect location. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

“Not impressed”

Old building became a hotel. 2 stars max. Bathroom is much to be desired. Breakfast was very good. Staff is extreamly nice and coteous. TV in the room is old. Remote control has some traces of food in between the buttons. Bed was shaky and squicky. What can you expect for the price they charge?

“If you are nostalgic for Soviet service this is it”

Room was small. Bed was a 7 out of 10. CNN was free to ait but bbc was pay. No other english channels. Breakfast was not bad. So overall hotel hardware including location was ok. However staff are typical Soviet style which makes the hotel not good overall in my opinion. Staff tried to get me to take a mafioso type taxi after I had just asked them to book a red taxi ( they are tthe most reliable). Staff are mostly Russian speakers with few Latvians. They took more notice of me and gave me fake smiles and good mornings once I informed them on day one of their poor attitude and customer service. However they did their best to avoid eye contact if possible. There is nothing Scandinavian about this hotel except for some of the breakfast choices. I recommend the 3 star Konventa Seta ( old town) or the 4 star Monkia Centrums ( although this hotel is a further 15 mins walk to the center Im staying here now) over this hotel. They have friendly latvian staff with much better English language skills and professionalism. These hotels also had good rates through Expedia. Cheers!

A very suitable hotel for my business trips; conveniently located, friendly staff, a good breakfast in the morning and coffee if I have a departure before breakfast starts.

“Metropole Hotel, Riga”

This hotel was an excellent choice. Probably one of the Grand Dames of Riga, very centrally located on the corner of Old Town, near the Art Nouveau district, across the street from the RR station. Inexpensive yet comfortable with 'Old Europe" ambience. Great restaurant with opulent decor and excellent food. Very helpful staff, speak English. Recommend highly.

Excellent hôtel, rapport qualité prix imbattable, proche de la gare, du centre ville et du vieux Riga, chambres confortables, salle de gym et petit déjeuner buffet exceptionnel: à recommander les yeux fermés !
