The whole place smells like cigarettes, bathroom had what appeared to be black mold under the bathtub & there was hair on the floor from previous guests. All that being said the bed was really comfy & the area was close to all the fun restaurants but far enough away to be quiet

Excellent staff service and big size of room, but should be improved significantly the cleaning: old stains in many parts of the furniture room and dust, also in the bath (shower top). What a pity because the venue is really awesome!

Amazing staff
The staff are amazing! They were very helpful when we had a problem with the rented car, they talked (greek) to the renting car company and sorted things for us. Location is also great, near the beach area and the old town.

The beds were not comfortable. Everything is so old and not really functioning well. The room air conditioner hardly cooled the room but the bathroom wall hair dryer from the 1970's got so hot on the handle you finish drying your hair. Definitely should not have "Palace" in its name.

we booked this property to stay overnight for a cruise in the morning from Rethymnon. and it was better than expected. Well located, old fashion room, but clean and nice, staff was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was included, all for a very good price

Friendly Staff, great price, and clean!
Clean room, friendly staff, and great price! Will definitely stay again!! Nice pool on the 6th floor, and great breakfast buffet daily. The location is a perfect stroll from the sounds of the beach bars and the view is spectacular! Highly recommended!

Great stay
It was a great hotel with nice crew. We enjoyed our stay there, and the breakfast was adequate; however, I would have liked to have more food variety (especially for vegetarians).

Room is clean and spacious. close to the beach. Friendly staff. There was varied selection offer in breakfast. The swimming was a key factor that we choose the hotel. However it was not available during our stay in early November.It would been helpful to know this in advance from our booking

Fantastic location, excellent breakfast selection, great staff, air-conditioning. Good room sizes however the bathroom was very, VERY small which was annoying. Other than that, it's a great place to stay.

Great location. Parking is pretty difficult and the shower in the bathroom was setup a little different than is customary in the US. Other than that the place was great. The location is fantastic and the city is great. Easy walk and the service was awesome. Didn’t make it to the pool. Would gladly come back.

Good value hotel
The Achillion Palace is a good base for enjoying Rethymno. Public areas are spacious and well maintained, with an outer courtyard to enjoy breakfast or relaxing in. The roof-top pool is not huge but big enough for a swim or a cool down, with a small bar open all day. The rooms are adequate and clean although bathrooms are a little cramped and in need of refurbishment. The actual bath in our room was too small to actually bathe in!! Air-con is efficient if a little noisy as is the room fridge but it is a very welcome addition in hot weather. breakfast is included making for a good value stay. There is a reasonable selection of hot and cold food which is replenished regularly. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Overall the hotel offers good value for its amenities and its location and we would be happy to recommend it to others.

Fabulous hotel central for everything
Loved this hotel. Really central. Two minutes walk to beach. Two minutes walk to the first restaurant staff really lovely and friendly. Gorgeous breakfast with plenty of choice and indoor and outdoor seating. Great pool on the roof. Lovely sized room with a really comfortable bed and great free wifi. If we are ever in the Rethymon area again we will definitely be back

Good value hotel
Best value hotel we stayed at while in Crete. It's 20 mins on foot from the bus terminal but we made it easily with suitcase. We were 1 min walk from the beach although the area was a bit shabby and noisy. Room clean and we had a separate balcony area, shared with other rooms. Was offered a welcome drink in the pool bar and beware the ouzo mixed with orange is strong! The staff were helpful and friendly and I'd recommend for a short stay and if you're on a budget.

Very nice hotel right in the heart of Rethymno Town, a short walk to the beach to the right and amazing dining and shopping to the left. Nice rooftop pool and bar, comfortable room, excellent breakfast buffet, lovely lobby. Great value. Thanassis and the rest of the staff were very courteous and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and loved Crete. I have a feeling this won't be our only visit! One word to fellow travelers from the U.S. -- the hotel doesn't provide towels to use at the pool and beach, so we had to buy our own at a local souvenir shop. Apparently this is considered standard practice by all the guests from Europe, but I've never had to provide my own beach towels before! LOL.
