The owners were very attentive and handled everything wth integrity.
Loved the fishing! Many areas, pockets, adjoining lakes and everyone on the lake in boats or on their properties were very friendly. Tell Beth down the road Boomer and Louie say HI! LOL.... The house kept a nice moderate temp the whole time we were there, hardly used any heat or AC, just the windows, opened in the morning, closed in the evening. I wish there were a newer grill or new grill flame deflectors and grates (the grill flame deflectors were pretty far gone and grates were losing their ceramic coat) and a few other household cooking items like a can opener, but we made due with what we brought. We made due with foil on the grill and a swiss army knife for cans, lol Overall, we enjoyed the good days, only one bad weather day that kept us from fishing. Caught quite a few largemouths and a few crappie. Going back again in late Aug or early September, I think.

Relaxing place on the lake.
My family went for my husbands birthday weekend. We ended up having amazing weather. My son fished all weekend but didnt catch anything, the most amazing part was seeing a couple of beavers swimming in the lake around dusk. It was the relaxing weekend my family needed and we will definitely be back.

Peaceful Location
This lake home is in a peaceful, relaxing location. We enjoyed the row boats, kayaks, and the fire pit. It was a great place to refresh and get away from busy, everyday responsibilities.

Nice place with a few issues
The vrbo accomdated 6 people and 4 dogs. I was grateful she allowed all 4 dogs. The house was nice and had a beautiful view. I did have issues that were addressed to the owner.However, i didnt mention the hairs on the bed sheets or the steps weren't sholved or salted. I always check every house for safety and cleaning issues. The bathroom shower stall was filthy with soap residue and hair, the mirror had marks, the wall had toothpaste marks, the sink and toliet had hairs and floor were dirty. I did speak with the owner and she apologized that she didnt have a cleaning lady anymore. She was even going to let me go next store to get cleaners. But I said no . I believe as host, she should have properly cleaned her rental.The white fridge had rust on the door. I understand she was dealing with life issues but she should have taken time and clean the vrbo. Besides the cleaning issues it was a nice place.

Wheww, reviews can be brutal...however its always appreciated to have a fresh set of eyes and suggestions. In this case I will have to speak up and defend my 'ladies' in that the house was absolutely cleaned!! I errored in explaining to the guest that the cottage might be found dusty bc it hadnt been cleaned in 6 weeks, (after the last guests departed). I did a quick tour the day before their arrival to turn up the heat and didnt see anything out of order. The well water is always a legitimate complaint, it leaves a rusty appearance that city folks assume is dirty and alarming. We do have a water filter that we change regularly during the summer and use RUST OFF for touchups. The weather this year has been exceptionally mild and we live next door. If the steps required attention my husband would have shoveled them and plowed the road, not the case in this circumstance. The hairs complaint are simply nonsense. Sheets are ALWAYS washed, bleached and changed out after each guest. I have absolutely no doubt this was done. When I spoke with this guest she was very pleasant admitting "I'm a VRBO host myself and quite OCD. I always 'white rag' every place I stay, its the first thing I do. I can be alittle over the top". (She shared that she checked the floorboards in the closets and under the beds too...) Due to her number of complaints I did ask if she wanted a refund to seek other lodgings. She declined. I assumed she was settled until i saw the review. Our cottage will never be awarded 'white glove approval' , it is clean and tidy. We do not deep clean btw quests. I pay our 'ladies' to wash and change out all linens and bedding, sweep and mop all surfaces, normal bath and kitchen cleaning, we do have plans to purchase new appliances but its hard to buy new when the old ones work perfectly. Cleaning staff does change periodically, not due to being unsatisfactory but bc it is so difficult to get/keep help. As we share our cottage with more guests from different walks of life I accept that we may not be a good fit for everyone. Our goal is to offer a tidy affordable lodging for your family to relax and enjoy each others company. Off summer rate was $125/night.

Nice quiet place
We enjoyed our stay. We are originally from the Reading, and still have family there. We wanted to be close by and have all the amenities this cottage had Vs staying in a hotel. It was a nice quiet place to stay. It was very clean and overall a great place. I bet it is even more amazing in the summer. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay.

The emphasis is on nature
My wife and I, along with two adult children really enjoyed this mini vacation. The house was fully furnished and had good beds. Every morning on the deck there were many waterfowl visible on this little chain of lakes. There was a pair of sand hill cranes we especially enjoyed watching. We only fished a little, but I'm sure there are plenty of fish available. Renting the available pontoon boat is highly recommended. Kayaks are also available. One word of warning. There are many stairs and steps to and from the house, which may be a problem for the elderly or people with bad knees.

Comfortable stay in Michigan countryside
Comfortable house in a beautiful location. It was a good fit for our family of 5 (and the dog) for the weekend and an easy 25 minute drive over to Hillsdale College. The one downside was the bathroom was tiny, which was a bit of a challenge for five, but otherwise the house was great! We especially enjoyed eating meals out on the deck overlooking the lake.

Relaxing get away
This house is away from everything. Myself and my 3 kids and 2 granddaughters stayed here and loved it. There were kayaks, a paddle boat and a row boat to use anytime. We also rented their pontoon boat for a day. Cottage is on a beautiful lake with multiple small lakes connected so lots of fun exploring the lakes. Beds were super comfortable!

Hidden Gem!
We had such a great time with our stay. Such a hidden gem! If you are questioning renting the pontoon boat, this is a must! There is so much more to explore than just the lakefront that the property sits on (many hidden channels and smaller lakes). Absolutely beautiful! Lots of fun with the kayaks and fishing (we caught a few). Very quiet and relaxing time with the family. Will stay again when we are looking for a getaway! Another note, not sure about previous visitors having an issue with the grill lighting, it fired right up on the first try! Rhonda was very helpful and responsive when we had any questions. This is a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of real life. 5 stars! Thank you Rhonda!

Definitely NOT clean
I don’t think the property has been properly cleaned in years. The mosquito machine on the back deck in the pictures didn’t exist. The dock in the pictures was from probably a decade prior. The refrigerator had rust on it and was gross inside the freezer. And the stove was definitely not good either. So, to say this property has an updated kitchen in the description would be a lie. Also there were dead bugs everywhere. The grill was in disrepair and filthy. Two of the, diffusers were broken. They was trash in the yard and the boats were disgusting. We left a day early. Had we not drove over four hours to get there we would have gone home when we arrived.. my positive note was the four BEAUTIFUL swans!! so this is our seventh stay through VRBO and definitely our first strike out.

YES, absolutely the cabin is cleaned PROFESSIONALLY between each and every guest. Our cleaning lady personally has over 30 years of excellent references. Admittedly, sometimes a dead bug or spider web is missed, we live on a lake full of critters. The bug zapper was at the cottage just not on the deck, someone had moved it closer to the firepit. Gas grills are notorious for needing external lighter for the igniters. Seriously, something else was going on with this guest...the previous reviews of 3 years of guest stays and return visits stands as testimony.

Quiet!
The house was roomy and very comfortable. The beds slept good. We didn't cook but kitchen was well stocked with plenty of space. The lake was sooo nice. We sat outside on a very nice deck and just listened and watched all the birds.(swans,cranes,geese,and ducks) We had a humming bird that liked to visit too. Sunset was pretty. House was clean and neat. Less than 10 minutes to Reading so there was food and gas close by.

Wonderful place
If you can handle a lot of steps and having the bathroom upstairs, the place is great. Minor inconvenience for major view and peaceful setting. We really loved it here. The owners are really nice, too Hope to come back someday.

If you don’t like lakes, swans, herons & lily pads then you won't like this place. The three of us & our dog had a great 3 night stay in this cottage. Enjoyed pontoon boat, very easy & comfortable to fish off of. Should of stayed an extra night.

Almost 20 years since I’ve been on this lake.
My grand-dad passed almost 20 years ago. He had a place on this lake. I spent many summers on this lake catching my first fish under his Willow Tree and many more over the next decade and a half. After he passed the property was sold and I began to think I’d never get back there. This property gave me that chance and delivered perfectly. I even got to let my daughter experience what I did when I was their age. The place was very nice and cozy and the owners were very accommodating and generous. We will be back as my daughters both had tears in their eyes as we pulled away. Thank you!!!!

Peaceful Lake View
Comfortable and relaxing. We had a lovely time at this place. It was very peaceful to sit and watch the wild life sipping on coffee in the early mornings. Beds were comfy and I loved that there was no tv’s in the bedrooms. Perfect lake view getaway to relax and unwind.

Nice little house, but dirt roads
This is a very nice little house. The beds are VERY comfortable, which is important for us. The living quarters downstairs with the deck close to the water is nice and relaxing. However, the final road to get there and the lane the house is on are both dirt roads, and very dark at night for navigating back to the house, so be prepared. This VRBO is a good value.

Winter wonderland
Nerve rattled, we arrived in a snow storm in our 12 passenger van. Al met wud with his snow plow clearing the way. He cleared the steps to the house and made sure we were all tucked in safely. The next morning he was up early clearing the drive and roads so we could get to an early appointment in Hillsdale. Couldn’t have asked for better care. The cabin was delightful- we’d like to return in warmer weather to enjoy the lake!

We stayed during cold weather. The cabin heated up quickly. Kitchen was fine. There is a drip coffee maker in addition to the keurig machine. Nice view of the lake . We couldn’t get the gas fireplace to light.

It was a cute and cozy waterfront lakehouse!
The property owners were very helpful and friendly. The house was cute. There were lots of stairs but I expected that. The fact that there were Jon boats and kayaks to use, as well as pontoons available to rent was awesome! We enjoyed our time. Didn't have any luck catching fish, but it was pretty windy. The water was so clear in spots that we were able to see some good looking fish!

Best week ever!!
First off, Rhonda the owner, is INCREDIBLE and answered any questions quickly and made sure we were happy with our stay. Which WE ARE. This is such a gem, THIS is true luxury. We unplugged from phones and fully reset ourselves in our week stay. Coffee and pancakes on the deck over looking the water every morning. Taking the boat out every day. Having a fire at night and having long meaningful talks. With the comorts of home to relax every evening as well(they have a smart TV and heating/cooling) so not "roughing it" by any means. This is the getaway you need! You will NOT regret it.

The stay here was amazing. It’s in such a quiet place right next to the lake. Al and Rhonda have set this place up as a true getaway! They were available whenever we needed anything and are just great hosts overall. We enjoyed the pontoon a few days of the weekend, and lots of fishing!

Beautiful property with amazing views, tons of family fun awaits!
What a delight this property was for my family of 5. The cottage itself was tastefully updated and had everything we needed to feel right at home. The views from the back porch to the lake are perfect. We had a blast exploring the lake on the pontoon which we rented, but there are what seems to be endless kyacks, conoes and paddleboards that the owners include for free! Life jackets of all sizes are provided and stored neatly in the shed which gave us peace of mind on the lake. We will look forward to staying again in the future.

Lake Life!
We had a wonderful stay! We brought my husband's mother and aunt with us as well as our two dogs. The views of the lake were lovely. We spent most of the day on the lake fishing and enjoying the sunshine then played cards in the evening after dinner. It was very clean and plenty of room for all of us. The hosts were friendly and easy to talk to and to contact. If you are looking for a nice quiet get away on the lake, this is a good one!

This property was nicely decorated and had a great view of the lake. The Wifi worked great, and we had plenty of pillows and blankets to be comfortable. We didn't use the grill because it was covered in spiderwebs, but it would have been an easy fix. The beds are harder than I prefer, but overall the property was nice and we had a great time.

Rhonda and Al are awesome.. we will definitely come back, the cabin was beautiful and clean. We rented the pontoon boat for the day and we chose the perfect day.. The cabin had all of the amenities needed for a long weekend, including fishing boats and kayaks free of charge included with the rental.. the Sounds of nature and the view of the lake let’s you appreciate life and know that there is still some peace on earth. If you want to get away from the city to relax this is the place to go.

Peaceful getaway with beautiful views
This property is such a nice little gem. Great sunset views. It’s not going to blow you away with it size. It’s a pretty small 3 bedroom cabin, but it’s amazingly cozy. With the ability to rent their pontoon boat for an extra $50 a day, you really can’t go wrong. It’s a no wake lake that has great fishing habitat and no pleasure boats racing around. I met the owners and they were very kind and helpful. I will not hesitate to rent this property again

Girls' weekend R&R
A quick girls' weekend with the sisters-in-law. Nice relaxing weekend. Love the peace and solitude of this quaint lake cottage. Beds were comfortable and the host was quick to reply to an early check-in request. Off the beaten path, fishing lake had ample wildlife sightings - water fowl included swan, and a great blue heron cruising the shoreline. This was a much better option for a girls' weekend away than some stuffy, highway side hotel.
