Great hotel with fantastic service, good English spoken, several restaurants, great breakfast. Only 2 drawbacks: The hotel is really far away form the centre, and twice we had trouble getting a cab there, and secondly they are still building it, and build at night! We had the windows closed, so did not really hear it, but found that odd.
Otherwise: Great stay.

A good place if you like walking around and aren't obsessed with modern 4 and 5 * hotels. This one is a bit quirky, slightly run down compared with modern hotels, but I liked it. The Rats Keller restaurant was good value and I enjoyed most of their food. However, drinks selection is limited. Just try asking for Tsingtao Stout - good luck!
My experience in Qingdao was not very welcoming. I found that with almost everyone my wife and I encountered, the people gave us the cold shoulder because we could not speak Chinese. There was only one person who had very limited knowledge of English and could barely communicate with us. The hotel had a huge cockroach in the shower and the floors had cigarette burns and stains. The bed was hard as rock and there was a very strong cigarette odour. The washroom was outdated and the hotel in general was not well kept. I would NOT suggest that anyone stay here.
This hotel is excellent..5 star facilities. Good dinner buffet in the first floor restaurant, the a la carte menu from the Chinese restaurant on the 3rd floor is very good. The staff are very helpful, particulary "Jenny" (I think it was) at the front desk.
There are just 2 strikes against here, 1 is very minor.
The Chinese lunch buffet isnt worth it. Had it one day and found very little worth eating and nothing to recommend it. Would have been better and cheaper to just get some fried rice and sweet and sour pork from the normal menu. Not a big thing though.
The other is.. Only stay in this hotel if you have business in the immediate area. I was in a hurry booking and mistakenly booked here thinking it was somewhat near Qingdao (since Qingdao is in the hotel name..it shouldnt be). To get to Qingdao is an hour long bus ride or taxi (taxi will charge 250RMB+, the bus is just 20RMB, but you need to take a taxi to the bus station). If youre on business its perfect. If youre sight seeing/travelling then dont stay here.
"Very clean and convenient hotel across from train station"
A little higher priced hotel than I normally use but it was Mayday Weekend and options were limited. The room size (standard) was very adequate for one person, a little cramped probably for 2. The breakfast buffet was excellent with choice of both Chinese and western style food. The description in the website was somewhat inaccurate, no balconies or patios or wireless internet but the cable worked fine. Much of this may be blamed on translation, I think. The night club, bar and coffee shop were closed. The appointments were high quality and worked. I did not use room service. I woiuld certainly consider staying there again.
Not a shabby hotel but far from the city. Convenient to get here using bus No. 231 though. The problem is that its surrounding is apartments so there is almost no restaurants to get a quick bite within 5 minutes of walk.
And 1 more thing, horrible shower design that might just flood the whole bathroom!
