“Very Good”

The Anchorage is our first choice when staying in the Portsmouth area. It is centrally located for the business and shopping district and has quick and close access to Route US 95 and other arterial routes.

Convenient location, well cared for, reasonable price, and good location.

Good location for our trip. Close enough to see the area and find good dining. Only had time to see some of the sites of the area.

Very pleasantly surprised to find quality Outlet Shopping so close by.

The clerk recommended a seafood restaurant downtown that was great! There were many to choose from and I'm glad we took his recommendation.

“convenience, close enough to old town”

First, Anchorage is very easy to find if heading north on I-95. Take exit 6, and you're looking at it. We found staff to be cheery and helpful, and the room to be quiet and clean. Bathroom was of adequate size. Beds were comfortable. Can run AC on "fan only" for total noise suppression, but even without that it was quiet for being so near Interstate 95. Hotel is about 1.5 miles (guess) from the "old town." We walked it, through clean and safe neighborhoods. Hotel has ample parking, and there is ample parking in town, if you'd want to drive in. Beware: meter maids are out in force all day, everyday, and we saw lots of citations being issued. Breakfast was adequate. Overall, this is a good value for the money, but a bit out of town for those who don't like to walk.

Area recommendations

The old part of town is by far the reason for visiting here, as a tourist anyway. It's quite compact, fairly commercialized but with some interesting preservation and sense of history. Multiple good restaurants in the old town. Lively scene around Market Square. Clearly worth about 2 nights, but could do it with a one night stay.

When to go

We enjoyed going to and being in New England in the fall. The road trips are enhanced by the beautiful foliage, and days are crisply cool.

Hotel was very clean.we loved the pool and hot tub although the temp in the spa was a little too hot.Breakfast was great ....cereal and breads and waffles...saved us 20$ just for breakfast.would recommend ...

“Comfortable Place to Stay”

The service was good and the room was clean. Staff were very helpful. Though the room had amenities expected in a hotel of this level, it was a bit small and difficult to move around.

“Perfect weekend stay for family.”

We were satisfied all around, the staff were friendly and accomodating. The pool and hot tub were great and extremely clean, the kids and adults enjoyed them.
