Home from home
4 of us stayed for a week with our 2 dogs. The house had absolutely everything needed for a comfortable stay, and was spotlessly clean. Dog beds, bowls and treats were supplied, and the garden was safe and secure for them. Communication with the owner was excellent, and clear directions and instructions made for a hassle free check-in and out. Would recommend this property without any exception.

Perfect coastal base
Great place to use as a base around Weymouth and Jurassic Coast. The house met our needs, and there was a handy dog secure park on-site. Fantastic views of the coastline from the higher viewing points. Pop into Dorset Shellfish for freshly made seafood dishes. They even dress the lobster for you. Lidl is just round the corner if you need to stock up. Thanks for a lovely stay Melissa.

Clean and spacious
The house was clean and had everything we need but the double bed was one of the most uncomfortable bed we had every slept in we woke each morning with sore ribs and bad back we then moved into the two single beds which were ok. The bath is so shallow that the only soak you could do would be a foot soak sat on the edge. Even with these problems we found the house was worth the money

All you need
Stones throw is a beautiful property all you need is there and items for your dog, treats bowls blankets a lovely welcome package wine milk cake can not fault property or owners. The garden is small but I thought it was just right unfortunately we never had the weather to appreciate it in the summer I could imagine sitting out there and enjoying it it was so peaceful and quiet. The area around property is quiet with plenty of places to take your dog for walks a nice fenced off area were we let our boy have his freedom he loved it.I would definitely recommend this property its spotlessly clean and well equipped thank you Mellissa

Lovely property
The house was very clean and well equipped..... there was everything that you would need. I was a little disappointed that the advertised dog bowls etc weren’t there. Luckily I had taken our own. We felt very comfortable in the house and felt welcome.

Lovely, well equipped property
Stones Throw is a very clean, well equipped modern house, that is within easy reach of many local attractions. It is within easy reach of Weymouth too. The property itself is well maintained and is extremely well equipped, even with such items as kitchen towel, foil and cling film! We would definitely recommend a stay at this property; we thoroughly enjoyed our week there.

Just a perfect house, all you need for a relaxed stay, welcoming, clean, lots of information.
This was such a lovely and easy rental, from booking, arriving and checking out. The booking process and information was clear. Communication was excellent and the house was ready, very clean and lovely welcome gifts, having tea, coffee and milk made it easier to settle. Good parking, and lots of information of activities, walks, restaurants. Facilities in the house made self catering very easy. It was easy to keep cool on the hot days and cosy on the cold days. Just absolutely lovely, brilliant host. I would certainly book again.

Had a lovely week here at stones throw. House is very well equipped and very clean. It’s local to supermarket, pubs and restaurants, the bus stop is around the corner and runs frequently. Fantastic walks and loads of places to explore on the doorstep. Will be recommending to our friends and family.

Lovely rental in a quiet location great base for exploring the country side and coastal walks easily. Lovely welcome pack of wine and cake 😃very clean. My only complaint is that the blinds in the bedroom are very ineffective and we had to hang towels over the curtain rail at night to try and hide some of the light - otherwise a great holiday thanks Melissa

Great place to stay. Excellent, spacious and clean.
This was a perfect base to spend a week exploring the Dorset coast. When we arrived the house was immaculate with everything you could need perfectly arranged and easy to find. There was a lot of thoughtful things included by Melissa, including treats for our dog. We found the house to be much more spacious and light and airy than it seemed in the pictures. The small development it is located in is very nice. The frontline coffee shop 2 minutes from the house (across the field) is well worth a visit. We would thoroughly recommend.

The house was spotlessly clean, everything you could possibly want on holiday was there, Melissa was so helpful, and friendly, even my dog Benny was made welcome and also had his own holiday pack which including a lovely soft bed, blanket, his own bowls and some treats! I would highly recommend Stone’s Throw to anyone visiting Portland or Weymouth, as was lovely and peaceful as well. Will definitely stay there again. Thank you again.

A Glowing Report!
We booked Stone's Throw at the last minute as a getaway for my husband's 75th birthday. It proved a great decision as we really enjoyed our week in Portland. The house was spotlessly clean and everything we thought we may need was there plus little extras we had never thought of! It was all this that made Stone's Throw more of a 'home from home' than the usual holiday let. A birthday card and cake, treats for our dog plus his bowls, blanket and towel and so many other thoughtful notes and suggestions left by Melissa. We would definitely recommend Stone's Throw and we hope to return in the future. Thank you Melissa.

The accommodation was fabulous. It had everything I needed and more. My dog was well catered for as well and was even given a bag of treats which she really enjoyed. The owner thought of absolutely everything, all the information about the area, dog friendly places to eat and and takeaway menus for lazy nights in. I would definitely stay there again and would absolutely recommend it.

Beautiful place one to put on the bucket list for sure. Views from every angle and plenty to do.
A wonderfull place to stay its position making it the perfect base, what topped it for us was the field to walk the dog just 30 secs away for the early morning or late night toilet stop. The owners really have thought of everything to make your stay easy and enjoyable. A short car journey just 5 mins or by foot from the property will take you to walks with views that will take your breath away get out and investigate you won't be disappointed. Lastly I just have to mention that the locals of Dorset are lovely warm friendly people. Thank You x

Clean modern property close to Chesil Beach
The property is modern and well-equpped. Much thought has been taken to make the property comfortable and a pleasure to stay in. The small courtyard garden gets the afternoon sun. It is an ideal location for exploring Portland, Weymouth and the Chesil Beach area.

Perfect July 2020 stay at Stone’s Throw
We have just returned from a fabulous week in Portland and we can highly recommend Stone’s Throw. The property was not only exceptionally clean, well equipped and comfortable, but the location was especially good for us as our son did a week of sailing at the Sailing Academy (just a few minutes away) while the rest of us climbed a few of the many crags Portland has to offer. Melissa was excellent in providing all the basic essentials and more (such as dog bed, bowls, etc) which meant we were truly able to relax and not worry about packing and bringing EVERYTHING with us...she was amazing. We even had a bottle of wine and cake to welcome us in. We would definitely recommend Stone’s Throw to those wanting to visit the Portland/Weymouth area and beyond!

Fab February Trip
After deciding to go to Portland, we checked Home and Away for properties in the area. Reading the reviews and seeing the photos of Stones Throw we decided to stay there. From the beginning Melissa was quick to respond and very accommodating. The house is immaculate with lovely furnishings and by far, the best rental accommadation we have stayed in - we will definitely be back. Thank you Melissa.

Superb New Year Break 2019
Have just returned home from a lovely week in this superb property. Communication with the owner and check in details were very easy. The property itself was outstanding, exactly as described in the write up. The house was extremely clean throughout and everything so well maintained it all looked brand new. Everything you could want equipment wise in the kitchen was there. The beds were lovely and comfortable. Property is in a nice well kept close with own parking space which is handy. Lovely touch on arrival to find wine and mince pies waiting for us. Would 100% recommend this property for exploring this area of Dorset and beyond. We ventured over to Corfe Castle and Tyneham village whilst here and it only took us 50 mins. So a good base for visiting many places.

Christmas break 2019
We go away every Christmas and try to pick places to stay very carefully. Melissas home was a SUPERB choice! Impeccably clean, excellently presented, decorated perfectly, and an ideal location for walking and visiting the area. Extra touches such as a Christmas card and gifts were a wonderful surprise and the provision of all the essentials (kitchen, bathroom and cleaning) meant the pressure was completely removed from having to load the car with extra kit or shop as soon as arrived. Perfect!! The exciting challenge at Christmas is always the Christmas day dinner... will we have a big enough oven? Will we have the right sort of pans and dishes? No worries here... everything was spot on! And communications with Melissa were prompt and informative, guiding us into the property with ease and answering our questions whilst we were there with exactly what we wanted to know. Many thanks for making it a great Christmas.

A lovely week at Stone's Throw

Lovely holiday in Portland
Lovely property in Portland. Walking distance from Chesil Beach and only a short drive to Weymouth. The area is well served by a good bus service with a stop at the end of the road. The house was everything we hoped it would be - spotlessly clean and modern. There is a well maintained garden and private parking space outside. It was a very comfortable size for us as a family of four and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.

Nice property but...
This is a smart modern property, but everything is not as good as it looks. The back yard backs onto an industrial estate with a waste processing company directly behind. This was both noisy and smelly. The sofas are terribly uncomfortable to sit on for more than ten minutes. The shower is hard to control because the on/off tap is stiff. Upon arrival the designated parking space was occupied by a visitor - not what you need after a five hour drive. Overall a bit disappointing. On the plus side the place was spotless and the beds very comfy, and we did have a lovely time visiting all our favourite places around this area and the Isle of Purbeck.

Thank you for your review. I am pleased you found the house spotless and the beds comfy. It is a shame you did not communicate with me during your stay so I was not aware of the issues. Stone's Throw is in a residential and working area, it is not in a holiday complex. I apologise for the inconvenience of you not being able to use the parking bay on your arrival. I am led to believe the vehicle moved out of the parking bay shortly after you put a note on the windscreen. It is unfortunate as the parking bay is clearly labelled with the house number so we do not usually have an issue. I apologise you found the shower control stiff. This is the first time it has been mentioned so it will be looked at. With regard to the sofa, comfort is a personal thing so difficult to please all, and this is the first time I have received negative feedback. Great property to explore from. Portland bill, Weymouth, Dorchester and many others in comfortable reach. Lovely clean, modern house on a small estate. All the amenities are available in the house and everything is very well presented.
