“Miami Stopover from Tucson”
When I made my reservation to this hotel, I read the reviews and imagined the ideal location for a four-day getaway. They had a special rate for a king suite room. How could I go wrong! What the reviews fail to mention is that this is really an isolated location and if you want a place that's far away from civilization, then this is it. The ride up the hill was an adventure and the nearest store/restaurant was at least a ten-minute drive back down if you didn't catch traffic. Bring your own water if you do. What they offer in your room is an 8oz bottle for what you would pay for a six-pack of water. The room was large but lots of wasted space, seems like a converted studio apartment. the special rooms were located close to the end of the complex where you had no view of the pool or rec area. It was a long walk down the corridor to the room and the hallway wasn't AC. Parking is extremely limited near the rooms and it's quite a hump from the main parking lot to the building entrances-2, 1 lobby and another on side which reminds me of a prison entrance. the bed was way too soft and the room only had a shower! Room decor is very dated and not inviting for a restful place. I had purchased a non-refundable rate for 4-nights. After the first night, I decided it wasn't worth it to stay any longer and found another place closer to Scottsdale center. All resorts shouldn't carry that name!
“great value”
will return if possible. only complaint was the bikes they advertise on website and brochures, which were expensive and not freely avail. was looking forward to a bike ride till found out how overpriced they were.
“We love Carefree!!!”
been staying here for a few years now great place to relax and get away from reality for a while. Also close to the big city if that is required. Have and will stay here for years to come!!
“Great family hotel”
This is a very nice hotel and their meals at the hotel were very affordable. We were there for 5 nights. The pool area and location of our room was ideal. If you stay, request pool side and first level. [The only issue I had was the bathrooms. The bathroom were small and it seemed like the showers were not scrub as well as it should. The showers were a porous tile and need extra scrubbing. The surrounding area was pleasant and ideal for those that want to work out, play tennis and go for a run. The workout needed a little updating but it seems like they were working on that. The glass art studio across the street was wonderful. The restaurant were they adverstised dancing was closed. They need to remove that advertising off their website. Other than that, the hotel was very nice. I would go back but I would just ask that the scrub the tiles in the bathroom.
“Happy Trails to You”
I really liked this hotel. It's a little campy, probably because of age, but it has a wonderful history and still looks pretty good. The staff were very helpful and the room was comfortable. I really liked the fact that I felt the desert and the wildlife right there with me. Beautiful sunsets and close to the small shops of Carefree. I saw wild boar one night crossing the road to graze in the hotels lower lands. The food in the restaurant was above average. It would be a good place to take a family for a few days or do what I did, work and then head for the peace of the hills. It's probably not for someone who wants more nightlife or lots of glitz, but it was really just what I needed. I hope to come back again soon.
“Carefree 3-2011”
Great Resort, Food and Ambieance, although alittle far from Scottdale and shopping
“good for family vacations”
This is a resort that would be enjoyable as a family getaway. The resort is close to other activities including fun restaurants, motorcycle and quad riding, and other activities. The pool area was clean and there were plenty of lounging chairs for all. The scenery was beautiful.
“A Jewel In Our Own Backyard”
The hotel was very nice with beautiful paintings in the restaurant and lobby as well as very classy antique furniture. The room was very comfortable and roomy and the views from our balcony of the mountains were gorgeous. The staff was friendly and attentive and overall we found a jewel in our own backyard as we live in North Glendale only about 35 to 40 minutes away. A very nice mini getaway. We will go back just to eat in the restaurant as well as stay in the hotel again.
“Excellent Service!”
We renewed our wedding vowels there and the staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly!
“Good place to stay”
renovated resort-pleasant rooms and environs-very far north-convenient if you want to be in Carefree/Cave Creek area-good health club included
