I did not like the fact the so called sportsmans' lodge was dated, tired and very cheaply furnished. Exterior of lodge building was cheaply glazed and outdated. Whole building unit of lodge needing upgraded. 1 of the staff condescending. Attended breakfast and was asked to move as they were tidying away the dining room. An extremely overpriced stay at £127. Drinks in main hotel grossly overpriced. All in all, an extremely disappointing stay for myself and my partner's birthday.
we stayed in one of the lodges. It was very tired and in need of an update. We stayed with friends who were in the hotel and the riverside apartments. I felt at the time of booking we were pushed to stay in the lodges. We had our dog with us but that should not have made a difference as she is well behaved. Balathie should possibly consider updating this year. If we were to think about a return visit and the lodge was the only available option, We wouldn't !
We were made very welcome from the start. Standards of service was very high, down to the last detail.
Food was excellent, couldn't fault it in any way.
You don't mind paying a little bit more if the staff, service and for are excellent. Well done to all the staff at Ballathie. We'll be back
Staying in the sportsman's quarters was nice and quiet, very roomy, but not a part of the main building, if walking is a concern. There were no dining options - it's out in the country - other than at the Inn itself, which was a fairly expensive proposition. Tasty, but costly.
This place is fantastic, very beautiful victorian dinning place and tea, etc. great field around rooms are big and are kind of cabin-like, I really liked it
Lovely hotel in beautiful setting with welcoming and competent staff. The room was clean with very nice bed linen . A dressing gown and slippers would have been welcome.
Our evening meal and breakfasts were excellent - looking forward to going back !

Anniversary stay
Really enjoyable and relaxing stay. Room was a good size - could have done with a few modernisations but very comfortable. Meal was quality but expensive (£65 pp) - cheapest wine was £38 a bottle... Service and breakfast were excellent.
Stayed in one of the lodges, clean apart from dust around edges of carpet, very dated, floorboards creaky but overall good value for money when added to the main house. The staff were lovely the house and grounds fabulous, food, evening bar food and breakfast, was delicious. We would stay again in the main house.

Had no hot water at peak time 6-30 to 7-45 pm was told to many people having showers at the same time.
This hotel is in a beautiful Victorian country house set in a gorgeous park-like setting along the River Tay. Staff were warm and welcoming. A soup and sandwich lunch shortly after we arrived was delicious, as was the dinner in the beautiful restaurant. Highly recommended.
Room was amazing and view across river breathtaking breakfast was beautiful.
All staff very well mannered except bar-person who was very rude.
Receptionist in morning said it is his sense of humour very disappointed totally unacceptable.
Lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. Small cosy bar is welcoming with friendly staff. Ate in reatraunt on a Friday night, food was abosulty fantastic! Best fine dinning experience we have had in some time. Staff were lovely and service was great. Stayed in a Riverside suit, room was clean and comfortable. A little tired but it added to the charm of the building. Views out of the room were great. Lookoig forward to staying there again.

Very limited choice of bar meals and quite expensive.
Great looking building and very quiet and peaceful
Stayed here a few times and it is always a positive experience. The staff are friendly, and the quality of the food is excellent. Breakfast includes a hot, cooked buffet, with lots of choice. Evening meals are excellent, even something like a basic steak and fries tastes great. Best of all they allow dogs to stay too. The Riverside building is going to need some money spent on it soon, but I really have no complaints from this time or any of the previous stays. We will happily stay again.
A fabulous hotel in a beautiful position - friendly, comfortable, quiet. The only improvement might be to offer a lower cost dinner menu for those who don't want the £65 fixed menu.
Comfortable rooms and good public spaces. Splendid grounds and parkway. Breakfast very good. Dinner well prepared but rather expensive by local comparison. Staff all friendly and efficient.
We liked the location, which was near a friends place. It is also a great setting by the Tay.
Maybe for the price it was OK value, but the Sportman's lodge is nothing like what was featured on the main images on Google, pretty basic, in fact.

thank you for your lovely review - really pleased you enjoyed your stay
What a place ,from the drive along the driveway, the hotel is amazing, i know its won awards for the food, but it was not our choice. Then again we came home and booked 2 overnights in August.
