Eenvoudig en prima!

Posted 26-Jul-2015

Close to the train station, very convenient.

Posted 21-Jul-2015
Pros: I loved the staff. They were friendly and very helpful. Kudos to the staff at the Avalon.
Cons: The smell of smoke and AC (air condition) in every room.
Location: The hotel is right in front of the metro & perfect for hopping on the Big Bus tour, 5 minutes away from the train station, & eateries.
I enjoyed my stay at the Avalon. It was even better after I was moved to a bigger room. I did not care for the smell of smoke, but once I was switched to a different room all was well. I enjoyed the continental breakfast. Make sure you book as bed and breakfast to get the free continental breakfast. If you need AC please request it. I would suggest anyone staying request a room with a balcony just in case you're in a room without AC. Then you can open up your doors to the balcony to catch a breeze. The staff was a group of good people. They made my stay very pleasant. Thank you for all the helpful directions. I can get lost easily. Kudos to the staff at the Avalon!

Standard room too hot

Posted 14-Jul-2015
Pros: Location, the lift and we could have 4 in the 1 room.
Cons: Air conditioning in all rooms.
Location: Everything nearby, great for the Eurostar, restaurants and metro trains.
We stayed on a fairly warm night and did not know the room would not have air conditioning. I should have checked I suppose. We had to open all the windows which meant the traffic noise was very loud. We did not get much sleep. The location was excellent for Gare du Nord so I would recommend it for that reason but make sure you book a superior room.

Unseasonably hot

Posted 06-Jul-2015
The location of the hotel is very convenient to the Gare du Nord train and metro station. All of the hotel staff that we encountered over our three day stay were very helpful, patient and efficient. The bathrooms were spacious with good water pressure. Everything was very neat and clean. The major downside was that it was unseasonably hot and the air conditioning was either non existent or malfunctioning. Our last night the outside air was nice and cool so we finally got a good night's sleep.

Pros: Very little
The hotel is on a very busy road, not massively central. No aircon or vents in the micro-sized room. Only way to keep the room fresh and cool overnight was to open the window. Sadly this made sleep impossible as the road outside was very loud all night, lots of horns beeping

Nice little hotel near Gare Nord Paris

Posted 12-Jun-2015
Nice little hotel, nothing fancy but it was clean, very friendly staff, I don't know about the rest of the hotel but Room 52 had THE most comfortable bed I have slept on in the EU. Would stay here again.

Very handy location close to Gare du Nord.

Posted 07-Jun-2015
Pros: Good location as a base for sightseeing. Facility to leave luggage on last day. Good value for money.
Cons: Kettle would have been great for cups of tea but understand this isn't standard in France.
Location: Close to Montmartre district and station for transport links
Room was small but nice and clean. Comfortable with friendly helpful staff. Looked like some refurbishment going on within the hotel.

Ideal Location

Posted 03-Jun-2015
Pros: Clean, modern decor..
Cons: I would say the lift but hey there is only so much space!!
Location: Loads to do in the area plus close to the Metro & Eurostar..
Very clean & modern hotel & boy have I been in some dives in Paris... I can't really fault this hotel, just a small issue with the aircon but hey, I just opened the window. Staff very friendly & helpful... I will stay again.

Good location 30 minutes to Eiffel Tower by bus.

Posted 01-Jun-2015
Pros: It's good location, friendly and helpful staff and breakfast which was generous.
Cons: Air conditioning ?? It was very hot in the hotel.
Location: Good location.
The only problem encountered was when we checked in and paid, the price was different from that shown on my Expedia email in respect of the quad room and breakfast. I did query it and it was only when my friend arrived later on that she spotted we had been charged again for breakfast. The hotel agreed we were due a refund of 48 euros each booking, however, 96 euros was mistakenly put back on my friends card, rather than 48 euros to each card that was used.

Close to Gare Du Nord

Posted 29-May-2015
Pros: Friendly reception staff
Cons: The dip in my bed!
Location is great for arrival by Eurostar and also open top bus tours as one of them departs in front of the station. For some reason my side of the bed had a massive dip in the middle of it but that didn't stop me sleeping. No restaurants that serve french cuisine nearby apparently, couldn't find a single place that did Confit Duck or Beef Bourginon. In France. In Paris......
