Just great

Posted 18-May-2015
Pros: Friendliness of the staff
A true 5* hotel in a great location with the grounds spaciously appointed and offering a delightful walk to the old harbour. The friendliness of the staff make for a very relaxing stay. One possibly disappointing aspect was the beach, all vulcanic sand, dark and dirty!. However, unless sea swimming is your only vice, the very attractive pool layout more than makes up for it.

Lovely hotel

Posted 18-May-2015
Pros: The pools were fantastic. My children loved the slide. They were all warm enough to swim in mid-May.
Cons: We stayed in the Maisonette with our 2 children (3 + 5). They gave us bunkbeds in the lower floor. The upstairs shower room was very dark and small.
Location: We didn't leave the hotel!
Great hotel but don't go for the beach. The beach was dark sand (almost dirt) so we didn't bother to sit at beach. Our 3 and 5 year olds didn't want to play in the dirt/sand. Room was spacious (Maisonette) if a little dark. Beautiful well kept gardens and pool area. Food was very good. We went for the half board option. The buffet menu changed every night although some were similar themes (Mediterranean v Greek v Cypriot) but they also had Asian and Indian night. Pools all lovely. Service all friendly and helpful. Our children went to the kids club a couple of times and always wanted to go back. Rachel at the Kids Club was great with the children.

Best hotel in Paphos

Posted 15-Apr-2015
Pros: The staff are so friendly and helpful. Lovely pool area. Superb breakfast buffet. Quiet location but walkable to Paphos Harbour.
Cons: We have children, but bar should be adult only after 8 pm. Also some excellent musicians in lounge area in evenings spoilt by uncontrolled kids
Location: Out of town but we liked that. Paphos very touristy. As expected several building sites around!!! Akamas and inland lovely in spring.
The moment we stepped into the hotel and were greeted by the friendly staff with a welcome drink it set up a lovely holiday. We had partial was view room which was a good size and very clean and comfortable. Superb breakfast buffet and coffee lounge. Half board buffet dinner was good but the dining rooms are better suited to families. We used our allowance to eat in the a la carte restaurants which were superb although a bit pricey. Great guest services where we hired bikes, arranged buggy safari to Akamas national Park (great fun) and hired car. Bikes were good to get around and into Paphos - there is a good boardwalk along the coach to Paphos Harbour (30-45 minutes walk or 5-10 by bike) although not lit so taxi back at night if walk! Excellent outdoor pool complex with pool bar and plenty of loungers which also spread onto large grass area down to private beach. Indoor pool child free in morning and evening which is good. Excellent spa with a good range of treatments, and well equipped gym. Paphos itself not much for us as a bit tatty except for Harbour area and amazing World Heritage Archeology site. As Spring had lovely drives up into Troodos Mountains, and over to Latchi back via mountain monasteries and winery near Panagia.

A fantastic hotel, fantastic staff and facilities.

Posted 11-Mar-2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing really except maybe the speed of the WiFi (but it is free throughout the hotel). Instability of the TV channels which have a habit of freezing
One of the best hotels that we have stayed in. If we return to Cyprus we would definitely make straight for the Elysium.

Wonderful five star hotel

Posted 03-Mar-2015
Location: The hotel gardens border their own beach - and there's a lovely scenic walk around the coast to the port. Virtually next door to Tombs of the Kings.
My wife and I stayed here for a week at the end of February. We were immediately struck by the grandeur of the place - it's certainly the most elegant hotel we've ever stayed in (and we're fairly well travelled!) - and it struck such a contrast to the other beach hotels in the town, which looked rather shabby in comparison. We stayed half board - and were startled by just how good the buffets at both breakfast and evening were. (For breakfast you're even given free prosecco, which made me feel very decadent!) It was out of season, so too cold for us to enjoy the numerous swimming pools in the gardens, but they looked very well appointed and sparkled very pleasingly in the sun! We especially enjoyed the musical entertainment offered in the main bar of an evening - the pianist in particular was excellent. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful - one complaint we could offer about the food is that there wasn't as much variety offered for the vegetarian, but when my wife mentioned this, the kitchen staff were eager to prepare for her dinners of her choice free of charge. The room was spacious, and the bed very comfortable. If I was bothered by one thing, it was that some sound did bleed in through the connecting door to the adjoining bedroom - but I'm especially fussy about that. Really, if you want to indulge in luxury, in a huge hotel that still manages to feel friendly enough you feel you're part of a family, I couldn't recommend the Elysium more highly.
