Keep a close eye on your chocolate bar...

Posted 20-Jun-2015
Having holidayed in Paphos with my family since the early 90s, The Annabelle Hotel was an obvious choice for our honeymoon destination some years later. As a child, I remember seeing the hotel and thinking how lovely it would be to stay there one day. The hotel recently celebrated it's 30th anniversary, it is past its best and does not have the splendour it once did. Our room had a well used and tired appearance, and was in need of updating and redecoration. The housekeeping staff did not clean our room very well and seemed more interested in interfering with and reorganising our belongings, failing to miss the used chewing gum wedged under the dressing table and mould around the shower screen. Not to mention the mouldy fruit left on the table throughout our 10 day stay. The turndown service, including flowers and a poem on the pillow every night, whilst some might have appreciated the gesture, for us, a reasonably priced mini bar would have been more welcome. On the last day I went to retrieve a bar of chocolate I put in the fridge, having saved it for the plane journey home, only to find it had gone missing! As you'd expect of a so called 5 star hotel, there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, though your allowance was 2 teabags and 2 sachets of coffee per day - you could have more, but at a price of course. We ordered 2 cups of tea at the pool bar, once and only once, given the cost was 8 euros. Also, around the pool were the usual issues of not eno

Very professional and welcoming staff, clean hotel

Posted 11-Jun-2015
Just come back from a weeks stay and very happy with The Annabelle. A very clean and modern hotel with some traditional Greek decor. Breakfast was great with a large variety. Room was nice and cleaned twice a day with fresh towels. Hotel staff were very professional and gave excellent service. Pool was nice and also the Almyra next door which you can also use. Food at the Almyra is really good! Hotel close to Harbour and restaurants plus right on the beach. Would definitely recommend.

Great location and staff, hotel now a little tired

Posted 06-Jun-2015
Pros: Location, staff, gardens, pool, loungers, helpfulness, food, general service.
Cons: Rooms need updating - room fixtures are scratched and tired, corridors are dull, doors are 'sticky' to the touch, lifts are tired and also sticky.
Location: Beach-front, close to bars and restaurants, the Paphos mosaics are worth a visit; you could easily spend a half-day there, the site is huge.
Annabelle has a great location on the sea front, easy walking to bars, cafes, restaurants, Paphos harbour, archaeological site etc. Experience of the hotel was mixed; staff were welcoming and helpful, the foyer and bar are smart and comfortable, gardens and pool areas are lovely - lots of parasols and loungers - but suffer the usual SELFISH individuals (you know who you are!!) who 'reserve' loungers early then never appear all day. Infuriating!! The hotel asks people not to do this, but does not actively regulate the rule. The only choice unfortunately; if you cant beat them, join them. Unfortunately the corridors and rooms we experienced were looking very tired and dull; need freshening up. We paid for a sea facing room, but this was on the side of the hotel, and felt isolated from the main hotel, and was noisy due to a public track/path leading to the sea front from the main road. The hotel graciously agreed our request to move rooms, to a more pleasant location overlooking the pool and gardens, still sea facing. We received a lovely choc cake for our anniversary - the date of which they had noted during check-in. Buffet breakfast 0700-1000 is excellent, with full 'English' hot full breakfast options, fruit, pastries, cereal, even porridge!!, fruit juice, tea and coffee etc etc. The a la carte restaurant Amarosa is excellent (good value set menu or more expensive higher-standard dishes). With respect, it's not a 5* hotel by international standards. Perhaps 4*

Lovely location right by the sea and town.

Posted 23-May-2015
Pros: Relaxed ambience and good facilities.
Cons: The room was perhaps a little 'tired' compared to some hotels, but still very comfortable (good beds).
Location: Access to everything - beach, shops, good restaurants - to suit all tastes and budgets.
My friend and I had what she described as a "blissful" stay - lovely location with good sized pool and we loved the 'grotto' with the waterfall and swim-up bar. It was a little unfortunate that when we arrived, neither our request at the time of booking, nor my email the day before arrival, stressing that we wanted TWIN beds, had been heeded. This took a little time to resolve but they were very apologetic. There was also no loo roll!! My husband and I stayed there last year, which is why I went back with my friend - we will DEFINITELY go again.

5 day sun trip

Posted 17-May-2015
We booked a sea view room and on arrival we were checked into a 'partial' sea view room. However George was excellent and dealt with things professionally, and sorted concerns swiftly. We were very pleased with the hotel and would recommend it. The pool and grounds are in super condition, we only did B&B but no issues with food, we enjoyed a high tea by the pool bar and a local dinner on the Sun night. NOTIOS well worth a visit next door at the Almyra - great black cod. Lastly it's important to mention the staff, as they were brilliant and really make a positive difference to your holiday / break.

Waterfront hotel, close to Paphos harbour.

Posted 21-Apr-2015
Pros: Nice hotel, quality accommodation. Good buffet breakfast. Wi Fi included and works, just about, around the pool complex (if a bit slow). + Location.
Cons: Rooms do not have an information pack - reception said if we need to know anything, ask them. Getting a pool bed can be a problem. Be early!!
Location: Near the harbour. Close to the Archaeological Site (must see). Plenty of shops and restaurants (good and bad) nearby). 10 minutes to bus station.
Quality hotel. We asked for a double room with sea view and got just that. Very comfortable and clean. Airport transfer on arrival was perfect. Bit of a mix up on departure but eventually sorted. Both charged to hotel. Check in was a bit 'in your face' and overdone - all we wanted was to get to our rooms and freshen up, after a long journey, ready for a quick dinner and an early night. Lengthy session with greeter was the last thing we wanted. Staff helpful (they need to be in view of the lack of information packs in the rooms - fail to understand why they do that). We were able to get a 'courtesy' room on the day of departure. We had an evening flight out and spent the day at the pool. So able to change and freshen up before we left. We ate out except for breakfast (good buffet). Plenty of options close by and further afield for lunch and dinner and to suit all pockets and tastes. Gym is actually not in Annabelle but in sister hotel Almyra next door. Getting a sun bed by the pool can be difficult. They were taken very early. U need to get out early and stake your claim. Frustratingly, there were frequently beds taken (covered with a towel) but not occupied for long periods. Not always enough sun shades. Hotel could manage this better to reduce guest frustration. The pool and garden complex is beautifully kept. Hotel has a small library and a 'business centre'' - desktop computer with printer for check-in and boarding pass. Paphos to be European Capital of Culture in 2017.

Pleasant hotel in a great location

Posted 22-Feb-2015
Pros: Location, gardens, staff
Cons: Update of rooms.
Location: Close to sea and harbour, restaurants and shops nearby
The hotel has very lovely grounds and attractive indoor public areas. The room was fairly small, though the higher priced ones are probably larger. I wouldn't rate the rooms as five star, but it is a nice place to stay and I would return
