Panzano in Chianti is a small hilltop village with an intriguing history written into its medieval streetscape. Panzano in Chianti’s history spans more than 2,000 years, dating back to Etruscan and Roman occupation. Another church well worth a visit is the Pieve of St Leolino, situated a short distance outside of Panzano. It is thought to date back to the 8th century, although the current building was constructed around the 12th century. Admire the 16th-century portico and tour the interior to see religious art.
Take advantage of the Tuscan village’s scenic setting by walking or cycling through the green landscape of fields, olive groves and forests.
