Staff friendly enough, cheap easy option for exploring Ostrava. Dated and tired decor. Poor soundproofing, could hear other guests snoring and being intimate from our room. Breakfast options basic but fine. Bread stale.

Hotel Maria
Overall the stay at Hotel Maria was excellent. The front staff were amicable and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. The only concern was parking. There are only 8 free slots behind the hotel and they were not always available. Limited street parking is available but you have to come back every two hours to "feed the meter" which makes sightseeing difficult. There was a nice parking garage nearby. We were told it would be about $10 USD to park each day, but it turned out to be about $15. The extra cost wasn't the issue as much as not having the correct amount of czk to pay.

Big/Giant room. Smooth check-in. Very good parking , but tight. Good location for downtown, Room could use a facelift. Very dated Soviet style room. Wonderful hot water. Wifi was not very good. Breakfast was good. Good location to downtown. I would stay here again for the location. Dan

Lovely.
Very clean and lovely hotel in the centre of Ostrava. Welcoming staff with high English skills. Had a problem with free internet and got offered alternative room. Recommend.

There are two sections. A newer nicer one and an older sewage smelling one. We were put in the old section while friends stayed in the new. The beds in both were brutal. None of us slept well for the 10 days. The beds were hard and pillows were basically useless. The staff may be ok but very little to no English so it was difficult for us. Breakfast is pretty bad. The scrambled eggs went from runny to burnt. One day they were fine. Stale bread and a couple choices of cereal, meats and cheese. Found the location to be very good though. Quiet, near some parks and the tourist core. A few good restaurants nearby.

Location was good. Wifi was poor, breakfast was disappointing (eggs were undercooked and sausages were only warm, not hot). Overall the hotel was fine and met our needs.

The staff was excellent, they even arranged vegan options for our breakfast. The location is perfect in the centre and the family room as all you need, including some toys for the kids. We'll be back next time!

Ostrava Hotel Maria - Very accommodating staff.
After doing considerable research, we chose this hotel given it's location and proximity to attractions, transit, restaurants, bars etc. We also took into account previous reviews. The room was clean, and adequate in size for 3 people. It had a 3 piece bathroom with a small fridge. The beds were comfortable, although the sheets did not fit the mattress, so this caused us to wake thru the night and adjust them. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast included a selection of meats, breads, cereals and fruit. Coffee was very good.

Good location, close to centre and near a Billa supermarket. Bus to central station from almost outside, and trams close too. However I had two issues. First, the room was not tidied or bin emptied during my 2 night stay. And secondly, the hotel had made an error with my booking - they received the booking correctly from hotels.com but booked me in for the wrong night. When I arrived, check in took forever since the receptionist could not find a booking for me, and then there were issues about them telling me that my friend and i could not share (even though it was a double room booked) and they made a request for extra money. The apology I got later that night was an offer of a cake or a coffee. I spoke with the manager who also was unhelpful. This fiasco ruined my stay. My friend did not stay at the hotel, and my visit to Ostrava was basically a disaster since my friend was too upset by what had happened. I put it down to hotel error plus language issues in them sorting this out and communicating with me.

If I’m staying somewhere on my own, then I’m happy with no frills. I was in an economy room €29 per night, no breakfast, no tea/coffee in room, shared bathroom and toilet, room location was via top floor, through a broom cupboard (certainly felt like one) and down some stairs before finally arriving. The receptionist had to guide me there because it was so confusing. A smile at any stage wouldn’t have gone amiss. Hotel location is great. The hotel was clean - new reception carpet being fitted while I was there :-) I didn’t pay extra for breakfast (I think €8), choosing instead to go to a local coffee shop. As I didn’t see any other guests, they could easily have given me a room closer to the front door - it was quite a check. I will try elsewhere in future, but would not rule out returning. I stayed here last month too. 4 of us in 2 rooms at €40 per room WITH breakfast and an en suite in both rooms. Would have been better to have gone for this.

Weird Hotel
The hotel keeps tourists in a separate wing (actually the building next to it) where you have to go to the 4th floor, then get to the other building through a door, then go down for one floor by steps and finally you reach your room. Did not exactly like the idea of shared bathrooms but had a hell of a showering cabinet. But the location is great near stodolni st. and the new city hall viewing tower.

Hotel had a lot of old-time charm and the staff was lovely and accommodating. Our first room was charming but had no AC and it was extremely humid and hot that day so we had to pay a few dollars more for a room with AC that was less charming but comfortable. Breakfast was great.
