Great Stay
We were here looking for family history stayed at this hotel and found it very nice. Room was good and people at front desk were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great lots of selection. Overall very nice place.

I found the many available cozy settings to be remarkable. After dining, there were comfortable settings for socializing or seclusion for cocktails. I found a nice spot with a view of the lake behind the property to sit and listen to my music. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Scandic Valdres is an older hotel in the beautiful Fahernes area. We were there for a family reunion and it was the perfect location. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and on site parking was good but sometimes crowded and had to park a lot away. Overall good stay.

Large hotel which had been modernised in parts . Check in was a bit of a shambles as we were allocated a room that had not been cleaned or beds made. Room comfortable overlooking the lake, but no glasses or mugs in the bathroom. Good evening meal and a reasonable breakfast in a very large old fashioned din8ng room. I am a Scandic member.

We only stayed one night. The place is very nice, clean, comfortable. Area around the hotel is very nice, quite. Wide selection of food for breakfast.

Disappointing experience
You are better to just look at the hotel from the outside- the exterior looks nice but then you go inside and it’s a sad situation. Bar and restaurant were closed - the pool you had to go outside in minus weather and walk around the building to enter - the tv didn’t move to be able to watch in bed - and unfortunately the room wasn’t so clean. The price is way too much at 1500kr for a basic room for what you’re getting. You expect more from a Scandic hotel.

Great location
It was a fleeting visit for work of one night. I arrived quite lateans missed out on the restaurant by 10 minutes, which was a bit of a shame. The room was great, nice breakfast, lovely view from the breakfast room.

This place is disgusting. I didn’t even want to walk barefoot in the room. When we arrived, our room had ZERO towels in the bathroom and an empty roll of toilet paper. The bed looked clean and freshly made so that was the only indication that a cleaning service had taken place at all. We got in late at night or else I probably would have considered other sleeping arrangements. The carpet is super gross, like has probably not been properly cleaned in years. There was hair on the bathroom floor and in the carpet. We had our (non-shedding) dog with us so I’m hoping that their non dog rooms are better cared for, but every other hotel we stayed at on this particular road trip (including another Scandic) was very clean, wood floors and well kept so not sure why this Scandic cannot do the same. You expect a certain standard at Scandic and this fell way below. At check out we were told we owed 200 NOK for our dog and after I told them our dog is way cleaner than their room, they thankfully waived the fee. (I happily paid the dog fee at every other hotel we were at but at this place I felt like my dog needed a bath after sleeping on their floor!) We would never stay here again.

Room was musty, maybe hadn’t been opened in quite some time. Cobwebs on the ceiling as well. Fairly small room but I just needed a place to sleep so it was fine for one night.

Very nice large hotel
This is a nice big hotel right on the lake. Even though there was a tour bus load of guests and a wedding on the same evening we stayed, it was quiet. The breakfast buffet was exceptional.

Very worn down and creepy
The hotel room we received was in this weird half-floor in a hidden corner of the hotel accessible only by going through a confusing path of stairs. It felt like we were in the maid section of the the hotel in Shining. The condition of the room, bathroom and room looked and felt that old and creepy.

Good stay if a bit tired in places
Scandic Valdres is a decent hotel in a town where choice is very limited. Rooms were a little bit dated and tired in places though general areas, bar, restaurant etc. were well appointed. Breakfast was excellent with wide choice. Evening meals menu was a little limited on choice, but bar was good with decent range and not overpriced. Scandic Valdres could do with some updates in places but overall I would stay there again - and I’d recommend booking a family size room, the difference in price is not significant and the room is apparently much larger. Also ask for a lake view room - worth it, views are stunning.
