“Typical low-end hotel/motel.”
Cheap, small towels, small TV, adequate room without enough power outlets. Internet access promised, but barely delivered, slow, weak signal. You get what you pay for; a cheap place to spend the night. Food in the restaurant was OK, but not cheap, even in the off season. I was made to feel like they were doing me a favor when I arrived at 8 pm and asked about getting dinner. The bartender called the kitchen in front of me and said: " We got another one for dinner, don't shut down yet."
“Great Hotel when the Downtown Shuttle is Operating”
Good hotel - better than a motel! On weekends they run a shuttle to the beach and downtown which runs till late and is an excellent service. Without this the hotel is a bit out of the way, and it's difficult to park downtown without paying an arm and a leg.
“A very good hotel!!”
Room was clean, very large, comfortable beds, very clean, very good breakfast, staff was very polite and helpfull. We enjoyed our stay. We recommend this hotel!!
“Awesome!”
This hotel as chosen because it was cheap and near Newport, but it actually turned out to be very nice! We even got upgraded to a bigger corner room and it was so nice and spacious. The hotel was definitely clean and well kept. I would definitely stay there again! Highly recommended.
“Not impressed!”
The Ramada Middletown is not fancy and my husband and I knew this going into the deal. When we checked in there were 3 clerks at the front desk all of whom did not look like they wanted to help us. The one who did, gave us 2 key cards, said we were on the third floor and that there are no elevators, so you have to lug your suitcases up there by yourself. We got all the way up there, to find out that our room had a paper sticker on the door with the room number and no place to slide the key cards, it needed a real key. So my husband had to go all the way back down to the front desk and they gave us a whole new room on the second floor and out of the two new key cards, only one worked. The room was clean, but very shabby. The walls are so thin I was up almost all night with people talking in the hallway, slamming their doors, people talking in the next room etc. Unfortunately there are not many hotels in the Newport area that you can just spend one night at. Most require a 2 night stay. This one does not, so it's convenient, but they really should invest in some sound proofing and some sprucing up.
“Comfortable, clean, middle class, incredibly customer service oriented establishment.”
Very, very good restaurant and lounge with an incredible staff focused on making your stay the best it can be. In 1 day, we knew staff names and they knew ours! They made you think you were at a very high class establishment. Room was clean, but nothing to write home about. However, not a bad deal for the price.
“I would Stay again”
The front desk was accomodating and checked us in early. The first rooms they checked us in were on the first floor and a bit musty. They moved us to the second floor without any problem. Continental breakfast could be improved. Just a few items (fruit, toast, small bagels, oatmeal, OJ). Shuttle sevice to beaches and Newport which is just a few miles away. Overall not bad. I would stay again.
“You Get What You Pay For!”
The Ramada was more or less what I expected, save for the tiny black hairs engrained in all of the towels and bedding (NOT MINE!). The front desk people were kind of nasty and there are no elevators in this hotel, fyi. However, the bed was very comfortable and room service was adequate, but I've certainly had better experiences.
“Admin staff needs to get it together. There a few unfortunate mix ups.”
The hotel was not in an ideal spot, but all that was available. Seemed overpriced for the services recieved. There were a lot of mix ups between them and expedia. We reserved two rooms and were only booked for one. Got to the hotel and saw that we had one king sized bed when we had reserved a room for two queen beds. The room worked but it was a few avoidable mistakes that made it a less than pleasurable experience.
“Not Great”
The walls have no sound proofing, and you hear your neighbor's phone ringing and his side of the conversation, as if he is in your room. The bed has no mattress pad, and the sheets are so thin you can see through them. There are no screens on the windows. The bathroom fixtures are old, the shower curtain is torn, and the tub apron is held together with unpainted blocks of wood. The room is labeled "no smoking" but there is a distinctive odor of stale tobacco smoke in the air. For the price, I consider this hotel a loser.
