“Need improve in cleaness”
The hotel was and the ubication is perfect because of the clisé subway, but the cleaness of the room was really bad. The tub had moLd and the carpet was dirty.
“Not convenient to JFK or to the city”
This hotel's location is inconvenient in every way. In normal midday traffic, it's about 45 minutes from JFK, and the subway ride is 45 minutes to midtown Manhattan and an hour to Brooklyn. It is close to a subway stop (about 4 blocks) but that's the second-to-last stop on the F line. Also unimpressive: the number of things in my room that did not work, including the TV, the hair dryer (shorted out when I turned it on High) and the key cards -- I had to ask staff members to let me into my room. Staff was unable to resolve these problems. WiFi worked only sporadically and there is no LAN-based Internet in the rooms, just a "business center" in the lobby that consists of one computer. Walls are thin and it's easy to hear other guests. Security seems inadequate for the neighborhood -- does not require key card for front door access at night. On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable, and the continental breakfast included Dunkin' Donuts.
“UGLY HOTEL AND THE WORST SERVICE”
The service that I received was horrible. I am very dissaponted and next time I will be very carreful about the hotel I select. The person in the front desk was nothing helpful and did not care about travelers. I have to say this is the worst experience in a hotel in my live.
“Does the job... not very well, though”
I chose this hotel since it's close to JFK in my last night in NYC. I wasn't impressed with the room nor the services. The staff isn't that helpful either. They advertise 'free breakfast', but it's just coffee, juice and toast. I have to admit that the room is clean and smoke free and the price was right.
“Great bargain in Queens”
This is a great little hotel - looks pretty average from the outside but my room was excellent; quite possibly the biggest hotel room I've ever had in NYC. Everything in the room was like new, the ac worked well, nice big tv, comfy king-size bed. The breakfast is simple - cereal, juice, bagels, donuts, fruit - nothing to write home about but definitely convenient and tasty. The hotel is 2 blocks from the F train, so it's a very easy 35min ride into Manhattan/Times Square. And the nightly price was one-thirdf what downtown hotels were asking for much less comfort. If you don't absolutely need to be downtown, this is a very good option. The neighborhood is okay - I never felt as risk walking from the subway at night and it's on one of the main drags of Jamaica so there was a lot of traffic. Also, it's pretty well situated between both JFK and LGA, so the trip into the airport is fast for morning flights.
“Ramada Hotel - Jamaica Queens, not impressed with hotel staff.”
The hotel staff are generally friendly but the receptionists during our last day were not. Our request for a luggage weighing scale was ignored as they said they don't have one (so we were forced to buy one in a nearby shop), and they did not help us get a taxi/shuttle service to JFK airport.
“Not Impress!”
I"m one that usually doesn"t write a review, however I thought others need a heads up about this hotel. The hotel has 6 floors and 7 rooms on each floor, however they only have 6 parking spaces for guest. Metered parking is all that is left in the area. Twice I arrived back at my room after 10PM and had to park on the street, only to have to get up before 8 am to move the car, because of 1 hour meters and NO hotel parking. The staff is very distant and not helpful. Positive, the F train is a few blocks away. If you drive your car to the hotel, you will be disspointed!
“Came through in a pinch!”
My guest and I were actually staying at the JFK Plaza Hotel, which notified us (just a day into our stay) that the hotel had been sold, was under renovation and that we had to vacate the premises by 12 noon the next day (April 1st). Spoke to Expedia customer service, who transferred my remaining days to the Ramada. Their staff honored our previous booking (from JFK Plaza) and allowed us to check earlier than their posted check-in time. Transportation is close by, and the staff is extremely accommodating.
“very decent place”
Our overall experience was great. We basically needed a nice and clean room just to sleep in since we were always away in the city. The room was small but comfortable. Its kind of far from the city but you can still get the F train nearby and that can take you almost anywhere especially if you have the 7 day unlimited Metrocard. Want a good place to eat: PUNTO ROJO is the best and is only about 4 blocks away.
“Good price and very convenient location”
The hotel is situated on a main road in Queens. 7 mins to subways, very convenient to go to Manhattan. Noisy at night because close to the main road, many buses and fire-truck. Hotel is clean with flat-screen T.V. Room is not too spacious but you can move around. Breakfast is complimentary but lack of choices, just bagels, muffins bread and cereals. Car park is very limited, only 7 spots for the 10 stories hotels. We were lucky to get one and no need to park on the street. The neighborhood seems not too safe, don't go out at night.
