Unlike the Reviewer, the property and business owner is unfamiliar with what a Boarding House is and therefore had to find a suitable description online: “In a boarding house, each tenant rents a room or a sleeping area within a room they share with other tenants, rather than the whole house. They share facilities such as the kitchen and bathroom with the other tenants.” Marieke’s reference to a Boarding House, in no way fits with our centrally located accommodation facility, situated on Nelson’s Golden Mile, a very expensive stretch of real estate in Nelson, which offers six fully equipped, self- contained motel units with 5-star quality linen, a super king bed in a separate bedroom, free parking, free percolated coffee, biscuits, and free, daily, 999GB of Wi-Fi, per person. The guest had an upstairs unit, with more than adequate lighting provided, including a touch-light bedside lamp. Sorry, that you were disappointed that you did not get a luxury lodge for the modest price you paid while Nelson, which had no vacancies, whatsoever, during the days you were here in March. With reference to the Reviewer’s comments, “the fancy sounding ‘lodge’ name,” has been part of the Nelson tapestry since 1910, this guest did not stay in the Lodge, she stayed in a motel unit, at the rear of the property away from the road. The term or word lodge does not always indicate “luxury,” it can also be a shelter, cabin, or hut or a stand-alone building mainly used in connection with seasonal activities. Owner

Thanks Stuart. For health and safety reasons, all guests staying over night on these premises must be registered. CCTV shows that you did not registered the female guest, you brought into your room for an overnight stay.

Hi Mark, You booked a small ensuite room - Hamilton in Lodge/Budget Room for $89 gross for one night. On arrival you were given a clean, spacious, Queen Single self contained Motel Unit, suitable for 3 persons, at no extra cost, with 5-star quality linen, free toiletries, free wifi, free car parking, fully equipped a kitchen, fresh coffee, biscuits and free milk. In your room you had a thermostatically controlled Siemen Panel Heater, dual controlled electric blanket, a Panasonic 32" LCD TV, DVD player and suitcase rack. After your check-in you thanked the receptionist for giving you an upgrade, however, at no time during your one night stay did you further communicate with any staff or management.

Occupants next to this Guest were asleep by 9.00 p.m., one being a Professional Cricketer playing at the Saxton Oval over a number of days. There were no guests living above the Guest in question and there is a thick firewall on the other side. Arrivals, family who went out shortly afterwards and did not return till after 11.p.m. Yes, this Guest had to wait a short time as the Relief Manager was delayed at a meeting and she apologised for the delays. This Guest left a dog in his car by the entrance to motel, owner was not informed regarding the dog. Owner received a Realtime review, person reviewing did not match guest list. Owner checked with the registered male Guest regarding Realtime review and he said that he had completed the review using his female companion’s name. We do not have a checkin questionnaires. In a professional manner, I said that would appear from the Realtime Review that you are not happy with your accommodation and that I would prefer for you to be happy and therefore it would be best if you find somewhere more suitable to stay and that I would not be charging for the accommodation. Guests refused to leave, making various threats and the owner said that the Police would be called if necessary. Guests packed up and on leaving they threw the metal Motel Unit key at neighbouring glass motel door and woke the sleeping occupants, these neighbouring people said that the Guest in question and his female companion were loud and disruptive especially after dinner when they had returned to the motel.
