“Would go back”
Overall good value for money. Buffet food was very good, room service food was awful. It was hard to get reservations for the other restaurants and at the time you wanted(there are only 2 seatings for the other restaurants). The fusion and gourmet rest. were good, the steakhouse was terrible. But the service was the best in those places. We thought tipping the staff might get us better service, but it didnt seem to help. A few of the staff were helpful, but mostly they were inattentive. The room was clean with a nice view of pool and ocean. Would go back......just with different expectations.
“Not what I expected.”
Hotel is not clean. The building is too old, and pool is too dirty. Bugs in the room such as ants, roaches, etc.
“Pleasantly Surprised”
I was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews. I'm so glad I went ahead with the booking. Our flight got in late so we missed our connecting flight which got us in at 11:30 at night. When I was given a room on the 2nd floor I thought oh great...we won't be able to see anything. To our surprise it was perfect. Right over the pool and a great shot of the ocean. The room was clean and stocked with beer, pop and a few other selections. The staff was very polite. Lots of entertainment at the pool which was fun. The pool was clean and lots of staff all day long walking around making sure trash was picked up. The food was very good, something for everyone. We would definately stay at the RIU again.
“Caution!”
Be careful in the shower. The tile gets esxtremely slick when exiting the shower. My husband fell and hit the back of his head so hard it bled. Needless to say it was a very scary first night.
“I will come back every year!!!!”
My sister and I stayed here for 5 amazing days. The hotel staff and service were exceptional. They were always friendly and welcoming, the food was always fresh and delicious. Plus who can beat free drinks whenever you wanted them. Kenon at the pool side bar was the best bartender, sweet, funny and made great drinks!!! My friend rented a villa and it was only a 7 minute cab drive from this hotel, great central location. In addition, we were literally right next to the Atlantis where we were able to enjoy Discover Atlantis Waterpark for a few hours then walk back to our hotel eat and drink all inclusive. I will always stay at the Riu Palace, my sister and I truly enjoyed our stay here!!!
“Nice 5 day getaway for anniversary”
Pool and area around pool could have been a little cleaner, but overall we loved the stay. Having Atlantis right next door made off for any bad at the Riu. Would recommend to others.
“It was ok.”
It was our first experience at an all inclusive stay. We didn't find out until our 3rd day there, that there were scheduled activities in the evening such as karaokee, music, etc. We found by accident so i was not impressed with the information we were given upon check in. There were also 4 fine dining experiences that you could register for. Hoever, for 3 out of the 4 options, long pants were required for men. We had checked the forecst and brought only shorts, therefore limiting our dining experience. Overall the stay was good. Not sure that I would go back.
“We are already planning to go back nest year. Great place!”
Originally booked at another all-inclusive but hurricane Irene changed those plans. Turns out we probably had a much better time at the RIU Paradise Island Resort. We were in a superior suite which means we were NOT on the pool side of the building. This was nice for us as we had a beautiful view and more quiet. If you want the excitement of the pool area and something to look at while on your balcony during the day ask for an odd numbered room. All of the rooms have private balconies (your neighbors cannot see you). The ONLY complaint we had was the quality/lack of entertainment. Bingo was scheduled every day at 5:00 and on our 3rd day there decided to check it out. One other couple was there waiting also. I finally asked an entertainment staff member when it startes, she replied "we ran out of cards" by the lack of guests in the lounge this must have been common knowledge. OK, so remove it from the activities board! The evening entertainment was not too much better. Two evenings of "cruise ship" games and two nights of a local band and one of local dancers is not my idea of good entertainment. Atlantis is just steps away and although we did not go to any of their lounges we did hit the casino as did many of our fellow guests. Aside from that the RIU is a great place to stay and we are already planning a trip there next year.
“Excellent value for the money”
The RIU is a very nice and friendly hotel with a great location and excellent beach. The entertainment is always fun and lively. The specialty restaurants are well worth it and very delicious. The pool is very spacious with a with up bar. Overall this is a very nice and clean hotel with a friendly and upbeat work staff. I will definately use the RIU again in the future. The only issue we had was the troubleto make reservations on the first day of arrival since they make you do it before 9 am and check in is not until 3pm.
“Relaxing vacation but rooms are a bit 'moist'”
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. The only complaints that I have are the lack of things to do within the resort and the surrounding area. The other thing is that even though the rooms are air conditioned, the carpet and even the bed seemed moist. There were some annoying vendors on the beach trying to sell the water activities. Hotel staff was very accommodating, food was okay. We didn't try the restaurants because the line to get reservations was always long.

Paradise Island, New Providence Island, Bahamas: Paradise Island resembles Las Vegas-upon-the-Caribbean with its fanciful resorts and white sands. Tourists often head to the islands casinos, five-star restaurants, and shopping gallerias; its beaches, water parks, and nightclubs, however, are geared primarily for resort guests. The Potters Cay fish market is an easy detour from Paradise Island. Grouper and conch are typical catches of the day.
