The staff were most helpful. The food in the dining room was very good. We were happy it was open since most things were shut down due to the death of Sultan Qaboos. The hotel is older, but the beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. We liked our mountain view and the call to prayer from the nearby mosque

Having stayed in many of the big expensive hotels in Muscat in the past. I had no expectations when booking the much cheaper Mutrah Hotel. However ,I was most pleasantly suprised and impressed by the good quality for money at Mutrah Hotel. It has a certain degree of excellence and kindness..Your wish is their command and do it straight away.

Customer service and location were great. Buffet food was good. Gazebo restaurant curry and chapatti were superb. Hotel was old in décor and fixtures. This is fine if bright and clean. Alas, the hotel was dark and dingy.

I enjoyed Mutrah Hotel. It’s conviently located by Mutrah Souq and Mutrah Corniche, staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was very comfortable, the room had everything I needed and was clean. I don’t really need a 5 star hotel, and this hotel provided exactly what I needed. Keep up the good work, Mutrah hotel staff!

Thé hotel is ok . I arrived early around 11 am and they checked me in although check in time is 3 pm. Staff were very kind and helpful . Location is ok . It is near to fish market , sultan palace , Mutrah market and kornich around 5 minutes with car. There is a supermarket sbaro in the other side of the street . Also excellent fish and seafood in front of the hotel and its prices are excellent . Tried the break fast is was normal , if you have other option for breakfast better to take it other than that it is acceptable. No much varity but you will find all the basics . The hotel is a bit old but clean and mantauned. The water pressure in the shower was excellent although I was in 4 th floor. It is not 5 star hotel , but it worth more than you paid.

Nice place to be in Oman. Really easy to be reached and with good conditions afterall. I haven't tried the breakfast, we had a Spar almost in front of the hotel. There are good places to eat in the lhotel area, a safe area. Nice parking, close to the main attractions, but only the wifi is a con. The space in the room is good and it's not noisy at all. I'd come back one day. It's a convenient place to stay when in Muscayt.

Great reasonably priced hotel in Mutrah
If you are looking for accommodations at a reasonable price in Mutrah then this is a good option. The hotel is older so don’t expect the latest designer decor but it is clean and comfortable. Easy 20 minute walk to the Mutrah Souq & Corniche. I walked to the giant Incense Burner monument but it was pretty far. Ok to do on a nice cool day though. A Spur convenience store across the street with fresh fruit, food, refreshments, toiletries, etc. A nice bakery and a few small restaurants across the street as well. Bernard is an amazing hotel manager and will do anything to make your stay more comfy...just ask! From setting up tours to getting a taxi to the airport he will help. Rest of hotel staff provided service with a smile and were super nice as well. Gave 4 stars due to WiFi being slow or spotty as other reviewers mentioned. Works well in the lobby but in the rooms service is spotty. Ok for email and general surfing but not fast enough to stream movies. 10-12 OMR for the metered taxi from the airport. I would stay here again

Overall good value
Stayed for a total of 5 nights but not all consecutive or in the same room. Overall very good hotel. The breakfast was good but same thing everyday. Beds were comfy. I had one room where I think the fridge and the a/c were in the process of dying (room 27, I don't recommend it) but all the others were just fine. I highly recommend staying in the older portion if you can, it just feels more authentic. As a solo traveller rooms 201 and 401 were nice and quite and comfy. Fridge was handy. I missed having a pool but the great location in Mutrah made up for it most days.

Chose this hotel as it was central to where I wanted to be in my short 4 day visit. Check in was straight forward, desk & floor staff very helpful. Room was clean & nicely presented. Restaurant food is good value. I would stay again as I intend visiting Oman in the future.

This is a budget hotel, very quaint & old fashioned, which offers basic accommodation & a limited restaurant fare. Overall, it has extremely positive reviews. If one wants to take a tour to the ancient Hill Forts it is expensive through the hotel (most hotels cater to groups rather than singles) so it's possible to negotiate a taxi for this trip on the Corniche, which is much cheaper.

Staff were polite, but not particularly helpful. As a solo traveller it would have been handy to be grouped with other guests in order to access places of interest instead of having to hire a private taxi at enormous expense. An Ez reachable Hotel in Mutrah old market.
This is my 5th visit to Oman and 1st time I stayed in Matruh Hotel. It was an average hotel with amazing staff from the parking lot observer though receptionist and ended up in the buffet servants. A quite lovely location close to many attractions by little distance, especially old market in Matruh was so mervelous. A nice cross roads supermarket, bakery, barber and restaurants. The hotel has 4 bars! Always full of customers , but nice people. The buffet is acceptable for all ages, I didn't like the beverages either hot or cold.. Coz I prefer only fresh. The hotel's Wi-Fi is not good. The below also not comfortable. No electric coffee maker. Nevertheless, I would recommend it to my friends.

Friendly staff, great location.
Good, clean rooms. All the staff at the Mutrah Hotel were very friendly and helpful. There was also a good restaurant and bar. The location is good as Muscat is not really set up well for public transport and taxis are expensive. The hotel was about a twenty minute walk from the souk, cornice, fish market and seafront. There is also a good range of places to eat just across the road as well as a supermarket. The hotel can arrange for day tours which were excellent especially the city tour. A very enjoyable stay.

Stopover in Muscat
We had a large, clean, comfortable room on the fourth floor. The only minor complaint was intermittent noise coming from the roof, maybe water heater or air conditioning. We had AC, a refrigerator and flat scree TV which all worked, and a bathroom which didn't leak - much appreciated after just spending 3 months overlanding in West Africa! Unfortunately Hotel staff were unwilling, or unable, to give us tourist advice - for example we were quoted 100R, then 70R to have a car organized for a day trip to Nizwa. (Transport only, not a tour) Fortunately we met other independent travellers who told us to take a share taxi, which we did, for a total cost of 18R (a saving of about AU$150). Hotel staff did not tell us about this option, nor give us correct advice re where to find the share taxi. Given an official tourist information office does not exist in Muscat, it is important to have impartial information at the hotel level. Aside from this we had a very pleasant stay and we would recommend the hotel to other travellers.

Be a part of the city!
The Mutrah Hotel is one of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed in! The staff are exceptional and could not do enough to ensure we had a great stay. Bernard is the ring master - organising amazing tours and making sure we had everything we needed. Jassim is the hotel guide and we spent two amazing days with him travelling into the interior (Nizwah, it's souk, fort and surrounds) and down the coast to Sur (including a trip to a dhow factory, walking through Wadi Tiwi, Wadi Al Shab and the Sinkhole and fabulous swimming at Fins Beach). Jassim was an excellent guide, with exceptional local knowledge of every place we visited. Bernard provided us with delicious picnic lunches both days and Jassim would always find a quiet shady spot to set up camp to eat. The hotel restaurant served good food, with the Indian menu in particular being exceptional, and the staff were lovely.

Nice place.
Fine room. No real complaints. The place was a little run down, but it met my needs. Friendly staff who got me a taxi at 2:30 in the morning to go to the airport. Wifi didn't work amazingly, but that's Muscat. Overall, a decent experience. Get a larger room if possible. It's worth it.

Central. Room was spacious but needs update.
In general good. Friendly welcome and room was very spacious. Decor was a bit dated but comfortable bed and in general I would recommend for a budget price hotel for a night or two if you want to be close to the souq area.

pleasure to stay
Excellent, pleasant, helpful staff. About 30 minute walk to corniche and souk area. Room is a little dated but it's very clean. Would stay here again when in this area. I noticed the fourth floor was getting renovated with upgraded flooring which looks nice.

Great hotel
Great buffet breakfast. Lots to choose from.There is something for any taste. Large room. Helpful staff. Bernard is the best! He cares a lot about the welfare of the customers. Even when we learned that Expedia hadn't included a free shuttle to the airport for us, Bernard got it for us anyway. He's a very efficient manager. The hotel is not as close to the souq, or the corniche as advertised. For good walkers it is within walking distance, though the heat can be a problem. On the whole, however, the hotel is very well worth the money spent. We would recommend it 100%.

loved the location
We walked all the way down to thw suq and port from our hotel. It is a bit of a journey, but wet love to walk and were pleased with the location. It was not as well kept as some of the other places we stayed, but was clean, and a comfortable jumping off point for exploring Muscat.

EXCELLENT HOTEL!!!
I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is in a ideal location, close to the souk and sea. Hotel staff are very friendly and the room was very comfy. I would defo recommend this hotel.
