What can I say about the Crystal Blue Lagoon Villas? I worry about being too expressive with how awesome it was because I don't want everyone to book there BUT...it was amazing. Probably the best self contained units I've ever had the pleasure to stay in. Robyn, our local hospitality Goddess, is such an amazing hostess. Her friendly, approachable nature made her the paradise auntie I always wished for but never had! She was able to get us great tickets at local shows and complimentary kayak trips. She had a wonderful hamper of breakfast foods, and tropical fruits waiting for us. Her knowledge and warmth was priceless. The cleaners were also very friendly and helpful.
The villas were spotless, and beautifully designed; everything was so well planned and thought out that our biggest concerns were what we were going to eat at dinner OR if we should lie on the beach or hang out by the pool. The pool area was an absolute paradise with an eternity pool and fantastic aqua blue loungers to lazy the day away in. The spa pool was also a lovely addition; people often came up from the beach to take pictures of the whole area, it was THAT beautiful.
I can't say enough positive things about this place, my only complaint is that seven days didn't feel nearly long enough. If you want a restful, beautiful, idyllic location to take your family, THIS is the place. I highly, highly recommend.
"Perfect location wonderful staff, best holiday yet"
Happy, lovely staff, superb tropical gardens. Take a few steps off the beach into a shallow lagoon and snorkel till your heart's content. While you're taking in the island views from your beach lounge, your cocktails are brought to you from the bear foot bar. Plenty of choices when it comes to water activities, just visit the beach hut and the guys are more than happy to help you out with the gear you'll need. Blair the head gardener took a small group of us on a tour of the gorgeously lush gardens. Truly a tropical resort, with a real island feel. Loved everything about our stay from the people, the accommodation, the gardens, the location, the activities available to guests.

From our warm welcome at the airport Te Vakaroa Villas met all of our expectations. A beautiful, relaxing setting with luxury accommodation in immaculate and clean condition. This is not a big resort with everything that entails - it is a small, luxury property with just 6 very fine Villas. We enjoyed the ability to eat out effortlessly at Sails restaurant next door (or other equally good places very close by) along with the option to cook 'at home'. Relaxing on the large day bed looking over the lagoon was my idea of heaven. The convenience store 100 metres away, open from 6 am to 10 pm supplied all the essentials (eg beer for just $2.50 per Heineken). We hope to return in the near future and thank all of the friendly, efficient and unobtrusive team at Te Vakaroa Villas for a wonderful holiday.
We found the resort fantastic. Great location, breakfast was beautiful, you have to try the smoothy. .. Yum yum. We loved the supplied kyayk. After our beautiful breakfast, we paddeled out to the coral and snorkeled looking at the fish and coral in the crystal clear water. Our long lunch was a leasurly strole up the beach to Nautalus who supplied a fantastic range of gluten and dairy free food, all of which was absolutely beautiful. The afternoon was a nap, a movie from the huge range supplied at rumours or another swim( beach, pool or spa). Dinner was again a strole up the beach to Nautalus and home by torch to spot the breach critters. Cooking was available in the well supplied kitchen, but why cook when your on holidays.
Rumours staff was fantastic.
Totally relaxing and a great getaway.
The Nautilus is a lovely resort. The place is beautifully crafted, high level of facilities, excellent food with great preparation, clean, staff friendly but unobtrusive. You even find a bottle of Brut as a welcome gift. All the negatives came from external circumstances. We stayed 4 days in June, the sky has been grey throughout, rain has not been a fixed guest. Wind has been strong and constant, so that the place (or at least the East Coast) is highly advisable for kite surfers, who in fact are in control of the beach. We have seen mosquitos from several countries, but watch out for these ones. They are extremely aggressive, refractory to all repellents, and mostly invisible. You are lucky to see one, let alone killing it. You'll only feel them after they bite you. This is not a minor thing, in view of the viruses that these mosquitos spread around. There is an outbreak of several tropical diseases, from Chankanunga (spelling to be checked!) to dengue. The lovely pool we had just outside our room was not usable, only a polar bear could dive into it. In conclusion: excellent resort, but all spoiled by weather and outside conditions
The staff here are lovely. Nothing is a bother. Great self contained accommodation with direct access to the beautiful sands of Muri Beach. Great location. Island bus stops right out the front. Not far from a beautiful bakery and a lot of other eateries. Car hire can be done right out the front if needed. Would stay here again. People are just so friendly in the Cook Islands. I loved my stay there.
I loved it here! Loved it! Island paradise. It's not a luxury hotel. They are bungalows. But it so fits with the island. And it's perfectly situated. And Sonny was the best. The people are great. The people staying there were also great. The views were great. It might not have those fancy pools and cocktails that some of the other places on Muri Beach have, but it's definitely the best value for your money. Which means more time on this awesome island getaway. :)
On the southeastern tip of the island of Rarotonga, Muri Beach is an archetypal South Pacific getaway. Palm trees adorn powder-white beaches, and beachgoers often quench their island thirst with fresh coconut milk. Snorkelers and divers find this area to be a particular favorite, as its protected lagoon coastline and turquoise waters are home to a vast array of coral and marine life.
