Luckily we only had the one night booked. There is a strong toilet smell on the ground floor. The carpets are filthy throughout including our room. The decor is tired. It felt like bugs were crawling over us in bed. The bathroom was actually nicely fitted out and clean. Breakfast is a choice of cereal, fruits and yogurt, followed by an English breakfast. The thawed out fruit was inedible, the English breakfast was made with poor quality products. Won’t be stopping there again.
Very good value. Friendly helpful and efficient staff. Breakfast was excellent and served by busy cook on his own so we appreciated his nice service and patience!
Slight negatives were: Our double room was a tight fit but on the positive side, was recently renovated. The duvet was thick and heavy so a summer weight duvet would have been nice. Noisy until well into the night and again early morning due to proximity of busy roads.
So a one-night stop over it was good value.
Advertised with parking but if the pub car park is full, you have to park on the road, so something to note. Breakfast was very good, noisy road nearby, comfortable rooms maintained to a high standard, brilliant shower. Friendly staff.
Excellent overnight stay on the way to Tenby. Lovely hotel room, clean and tastefully decorated. We arrived late afternoon on a very hot day and our room had an excellent fan which was most we!come. Also excellent breakfast. Highly recommended.
Lovely clean hotel, slept well, very good breakfast.
Next to a busy road but quieter at night.
The town itself did not have many eating places.
We would like to have bought an evening meal at the hotel. ( they are happy for guests to have food delivered).
Cleanliness of the room was very good and a lovely shower room. Size of room was adequate for short stay but lacked a place to put your cases. The room was delightfully decorated. Would recommend for overnight stay. Good breakfast served.
Great gem of a place, passed through Monmouth many times and never stopped, would certainly think of going back and staying at the Mayhill for a few days exploring the town and surrounding area. The staff were very helpful and made an excellent suggestion of an Italian restaurant for an evening meal.
