Nice hotel, but tired.

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Pros: Very convenient location and spa facilities were excellent.
Cons: Bedroom product needs refurbishing and there was a lack of attention to detail by room service eg. Toiletries not replenished unless requested etc
Location: In heart of St Julians close to a number of excellent restaurants eg Doce Vita in Spinola
In general terms the hotel was ok. The staff were pleasant and helpful, but the bedroom product is tired and has seen better days. We were expecting a five star standard, but did not receive a five star product.

Hello and thank you for your review. Whilst I appreciate your positive comment about the team’s attitude I am disappointed that there are areas which did not meet your expectations. We will consider your comments for further improvements of our products and services. Best regards, Ursula

excellent hotel

Posted 13-Jul-2014
Pros: We liked this hotel from the minute we booked in at Reception. The Spa and roof top pool are excellent.
Cons: Our mini bus dropped us off on the ground floor. We were a little lost as there were no signs that directed us to the third floor where Reception is.
Location: Malta local buses are a cheap way to travel to the local destinations. Also the Malta Sightseeing Tours are a fab way to see all the sights.
Would definitely recommend this hotel. Hotel Spa is a definite must.

Dear Libby, thank you so much for your great compliment. It is unfortunate though, that the min-bus dropped you at the ground level upon arrival. We look forward to welcoming you back soon, Best regards, Ursula

Le Meridien has been our staple hotel for the past 5 years. We return for a number of reasons: Friendly and helpul staff Nice spa and sports facilities Rooms cleaned and re-stocked daily Happy hour (cocktails are yummy) Situated close to a variety of affordable but good quality restaurants Overlooks the bay which is very pretty

Pros: The space and the staff.
Cons: The food in the lounge area
Location: Perfect and chilled out location. Away from the clubs but also close enough if you wanted to go.
The staff were amazing and extremely helpful, they made the stay that more special.

Wedding visit to le Meridien St Julian's Malta

Posted 01-Jun-2014
Pros: Pool area Room space Bathroom and toiletries Separate toilet Service for our one on site breakfast and food quality was outstanding
Cons: Lift service was a bit hit and miss Bar service was sloppy and there was confusion amongst staff and customers over the 2 for 1 happy hour offer
Location: Bus service (local and tourist) runs from outside the hotel Location is outstanding Decent strolls can take you to St George bay and Silema
A great stay in a very nice hotel. Fabulous location and very accommodating reception staff. Brother and new sister in law got married in adjoining villa which was a great venue for such an event. Wife is keen to return.
Comment from Hotel Management
Dear liam, thank you for your feedback. It’s nice to hear that you enjoyed the wedding reception at The Villa. Also it’s good the read that you enjoyed most of your the experiences at the hotel. Our lifts are representing the latest technology with the fastest speed of this make; yet it is disappointing that you seemingly encountered problems with the lift services. Wedding Reception Venue

Posted 29-May-2014
Pros: Cleanliness, efficiency, location and car parking.
Cons: The lift system is extremely frustrating.
Location: Fantastic location for exploring st Julian's Bay on foot. Steep incline to Zero Level from main road.
Two night stay for wedding reception. Upon arrival at 'zero' level you tend to wonder where Reception is. It's badly signed as level 3. So, Enter at zero, walk around to the left to lifts. Select '3' on LCD panel which will indicate which lift to use, I.e. A,b,c or d. Reception when found is super efficient. Although breakfast is advertised on TV and info sheets as on level 3, it is actually on level 2. The wedding reception was amazing, chef fantastic, table settings and service absolutely faultless. However, without the experience of the wedding reception, overall the hotel is soul less and noise insulation is lacking. Cleaning staff slide open and slam closed every drawer (7 in total) in rooms above from 7.30 in the morning!! Car parking is complimentary which is an absolute bonus in Malta. Location fantastic for exploring St Julian's and surrounding areas.

Hello rose m, Thank you for choosing Le Méridien St Julians for your stay and the wedding reception. I am very pleased to learn that you had a great time at the wedding. Thank you for your encouraging feedback, and our team’s efficiency when handling requests. It is disappointing, that you were disturbed through our team early in the morning, and I assure you this will be addressed accordingly. a short break

Posted 15-May-2014
Pros: facilities, location, cleanliness
Cons: making sure the construction site abides by maltese law, and starts at 9am and not before ( as we were told they should have by reception)
Location: lots of places to eat and drink nearby, and the bus stops are literally outside the hotel so you can go explore the island
arrived on friday evening, welcome at reception was pleasant. told them we were part of a wedding party who were also staying at the hotel, and that something had been left at reception for us but the receptionist gave a blank look and said there was nothing there. within 5 minutes of getting to our room, a member of staff knocked on the door with the item that had been left for us at reception, as we suspected. facilities at the hotel were great, the rooftop pool is wonderful, as is the indoor pool and sauna/steam room/jacuzzi facility. we only had breakfast one morning and that was lovely also. lots of choice at the buffet. our one problem came on the last night after we had gone to bed. there was a lot of noise from the room above, which initially kept us from falling asleep, then woke us up in the night when we had managed to doze off. add that to the construction site next door which kicked off at 6.45 on tuesday morning, we didn't have a great last night. i told reception at check out, who then passed me on to the guest experience manager, who thanked me for my comments, but offered nothing in way of compensation for our disturbed last night. they did offer us breakfast, for which we already had other plans, and they also offered a late check out- but we needed to leave the hotel before the actual check out time, so i am still waiting to hear back from the guest relations manager. overall it was nice, but make sure you don't have a room on the construction side!

Dear Ms L, Thank you for sharing your impressions of your stay directly with me upon departure. With great pleasure I acknowledge the encouraging comments about selected areas of the hotel. The building works certainly is not pleasant in terms of sight and noise. Unfortunately unlike in any other city, our frequent complaints so far had no influence on the time schedule of the works. I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the future. With best regards, Gilbert Xuereb Guest Experience Ambassador

3 star at best

Posted 13-May-2014
Pros: Leaving !
Very disappointing hotel . Supposed to be a 5 star, room was overlooking a building site 3 metres away , You entered the hotel through a dirty lobby , the lifts worked sometimes and we had to walk down the stairs on a number of occasions . For a' luxury 'hotel they we had to buy our own slippers as none were supplied for the dirty balcony floors , One complimentary bottle of water per stay (if you checked out and checked back in daily , you got another one) or paid 6 euros for a bottle big enough to make a tea from the fridge .The t.v had only news channels in English and no other film or programmes to watch. I have stopped in 5 maltese hotels and this was the worst by far .
Comment from Hotel Management
Dear John m, I am disappointed to read about your experience. The slippers should have been in the room, and if this would have been flagged to the team for sure they would have immediately brought you slippers to your room. As for the TV, we have a wide range of channels in various languages, and I regret that neither of these met your expectations. I am not too sure whether you have scanned through our video on demand offerings, where we have the latest block buster movies available. As you know, space in Malta is scarce and being in a popular destination like St. Julians, buildings are built relative close by. On a lighter note, all our guest lifts are now fully operating. These lifts are the latest models of this particular make, and are also considered the fastest of this brand. I have been using all of these over the past few days, and I must say it is a delight to now fully enjoy such modern technology. I do hope that you will be visiting us eventually in one of your future visits to Malta Best regards, Ursula Schoefl General Manager

Comfortable and all we needed for great stay

Posted 10-May-2014
Room was large, bed comfortable and all facilities including room service were excellent. We had a great view of the harbour from our balcony. Would not have been anywhere near as good if we had had a room overlooking carpark! Good breakfast and pleasant surroundings. Would recommend
