“Fabulous experience”
Great hotel!
“great hotel”
this is a fantastic hotel which provides excellent service
“Good hotel”
The hotel was excellent. The breakfast was good, the only complaint that we had was that considering it was a five star hotel, they had given little consideration to the content of the television and availability of music in the room. While we didn't wish to watch television and admitrtedly the news channels were reasonable, the only music that seemed available was really bad pop. No easy listening and not a hint of any classical.
“Carefu of the steps”
Not so convenient if you do not like steps. There are 89 of them to climb to get to the main road. The air conditioning pumps do not stop even when the aircon is turned off, so in the heat of the night there is a constant humming noise in the room making sleeping difficult. The maintenance men admitted to a design fault and offered to turn the pump on and off every night. Not very convenient. Please be careful with the provided kettle in the room as it does not switch off and you will burn your hand on the handle. When complained to the reception the excuse was that they were cheap kettles. This is a 5 star hotel for gods sake. These kettles are dangerous. Otherwise very nice setting and generally helpful and pleasant staff.
“I love this place and will be back”
I love this place and will be back
“Luxury”
This is my second time at the Grand Hotel Excelsior and I could not stay anywhere else. Everyone is very welcoming and it is a true 5* hotel. I love the swimming pool location looking out over the harbour!
“Our Second Trip To The Grand Hotel Excelsior - Still Good BUT Not Quite As Good As Last Year...”
We had such a nice time at this hotel on our holiday there at the same time last year that we decided to go back there for our honeymoon this year. I had informed the hotel in advance that it was going to be our honeymoon, but sadly there was no "happy honeymoon" welcome for us. When we arrived at the hotel last year, we were greeted by a refreshing glass of fruit juice & a cold face cloth, which were both very welcome indeed. This year we didn't get any of these offered to us, so we presumed that maybe this was because of cutbacks until we saw other guests being offered both of these services when checking in during the rest of our stay. This made us both dissapointed that this wasn't offered to us. I have to say though that the staff were as helpful as ever, particularly the reception and concierge staff. The only part of the service that isn't great is the speed of the food and drink service, particularly at breakfast for tea and coffee. However, this has improved since last year when the service was a LOT slower. The nightly buffets in the Admirals Landing restuarant are well worth a visit, as the food is excellent, and plentiful. The Indian buffet on a Tuesday night is particularly good. The TIKI bar is also worth a visit for good food, partiucularly on a Wednesday night. Whilst we were there I "celebrated" my 40th birthday, and again there was no "happy birthday" greeting even though my husband had previously informed th hotel, this would have been a nice touch.
“superb Hotel, super staff, great location, great holiday.”
Hotel is set on a hillside overlooking the Med, room quality is excellent, in fact in the interest of brevity the Hotel is 10/10 in all aspects. Enough said really, I will return.
“Would gladly come back”
Perfect hotel, unfortunately we didn't get a room with a sea-view. Tha standard rooms haven't got such an impressing view.
“Good if you can get a cheap deal”
We got a good last minute deal, so it was good value for us, but I guess that there are a few things that weren't quite 5* if you were paying top whack. What it did offer though was the best location for a touring holiday in Malta if you didn't hire a car: 5 minutes' walk from the bus station, and 10 minutes from all the best museums and eateries in Valletta. It was also in a pleasant setting with nice gardens at the front, and a great view across the harbour from the pool terrace. The room was very good, but as one other reviewer pointed out, some of the towels had seen better days ... possibly during the Great Siege ... All rooms have UK 13A sockets! Breakfast was a buffet with a fine choice, but one or two items (e.g. pastries) 'needed reviewing'. Visiting the omelette man was the best choice. The pools were large and very clean, but also very shallow, and could get quite crowded.
