hotel Fortina Slia Malta

Posted 16-Nov-2014
Hotel is very close to all the amenities. Lovely view of Valletta or view of sea. Buses are inexpensive and the one ticket which costs 1.50 euro per person can be used all day on all buses. You can travel by ferry to Valletta also which takes ten mins. Hotel also has wonderful Spa and Thalassotherapy pool.

Comfortable for tropical fish

Air conditioning was just pwerful enough, considering the cool evening. I wonder whether it will be good enough in a mid-summer heat. Otherwise, excellent location. Not quite a 4 star in my opinion. But nearly there.

Nice hotel shame about the staff

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: The pool and gardens were very pleasant, but the hotel had a lot of maintenance issues.
Cons: Staff being sent on customer service training and how to help not hinder customers
Staff on reception very abrasive. I turned up at 1.30pm to check in, we were slightly early and was told to come back between 2 and 2.30pm. I told the staff that check in was at 2pm, their response was well the room is not ready. We went to have a drink and went back at 2.35pm. No smiling staff, just people who looked like they did not want to be there, they checked to see if the room was ready but yet again it was not, no apology. I then requested to see the manager by this time it was 2.50pm. I explained tat this is a short holiday in this particular hotel and we were losing valuable time. Still no apology.. Then miraculously they gave us another room, why didn't they do this befor?. All through our stay we found the hotel staff unhelpful. The food was not much better.i wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel unless you have too.

Just great holiday!

Posted 15-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
We had on of the best holidays in recent years! The view pool area to Valetta was marvellous, just a millon dollar view! The location was great for any purpose, no matter if you would like to take a ferry a bus or just walk to restaurants. And if you are interested in shopping, then nicely cool (in hot summer!) shopping mall is just next door! If I should mention also any shortcombg then may-be the coridor carpet (at least on 7th floor) seemed a bit tired. But nothing more to mention! Really great holiday in a great hotel! We give high recommendations!

Great Location

Posted 14-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel location means that you have superb views of Valletta across the harbor. The hotel is large and very busy with two great pools, however you have to get up early to find a lounger. Our room was large as it was a family room but it was dusty and the air con made it smell damp. The hotel lacks decent WiFi, you need to walk around the lobby or the pool bar to pick up an intermittent service,my daughter constantly moaned about this. Breakfast was good, the usual free for all, eat as much as you want cereal, toast, cakes, fruit and fry up. We didn't bother trying the hotels other restaurants as there a some great ones five minutes down the road. One thing that did annoy me was we were promised a free harbor cruise upon check in, so to claim you need to speak to the man at the desk outside the restaurant area after breakfast. He seems nice and offers you a tour of the hotel to which you are then frog marched to the sister Fortina Spa Resort next door, taken to the 12th floor to observe the view and then are told there is a one hour presentation by a sales rep who tries to sell you RCI timeshare holidays. After the hour I had to be blunt as there was no escape and this was day one of our holiday and say no and demand the cruise tickets which they didn't appreciate as other unsuspecting families with small children were being ushered in for the same treatment. This hotel lacks magic and survives on its location.

Great hotel with million dollar view of Valetta

Posted 26-Jun-2014
Lovely hotel with fab breakfast and best of all is the pool areas right on the harbour with ladders down to the sea for swimming. 2 nice pools. Adult one is deep Nd salt water. Awesome! The room was small And bed was hard but I'll trade that for the view and swimming Anyday
