We had an absolutely fantastic time. Stunning location right in the middle of the historic district. Alice was warm, welcoming, and gave us plenty of recommendations, which we greatly appreciated. Spotless rooms with a stunning style and beautiful blend of historical with modern amenities. We can't wait to return. Grazie mille!

It is a very unique place. Nicely decorated in the ancient/medieval style. Located in a busy area so you can be in the centre of Lucca and taste the atmosphere of the town. Very good contact with owners, you could feel very comfortable.

Memorable stay in historic center of Lucca
Amazing location in the heart of Lucca. The room was beautiful and very characterful making it an unforgetable experience. Because of the central location and the old windows it can get noisy but this didn't bother us. The host was very helpful and gave us some very helpful recommendations.

Place was lovely, staff member Alice was very helpful, good location. Breakfast for 6 euro nice. Small place with 4 rooms in very old but nicely updated house. Only downside was street noise that went on most of night making it hard to sleep. We were there on a Friday- maybe quieter during weekday. You cannot bring a car into that part of Lucca, so you should arrange garage which staff was helpful in doing

We stayed at L’ Antica Bifore for two nights in room Beatrice and it was magical! The room was uniqe and very charming, the location was in the middle of Lucca and could not be better. The hosts Alessandro & Alice were so welcoming and helpful, giving us recommendations for what to see and where to eat in Lucca. This stay exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting this beautiful city!

This historical property is beautifully kept by Alice and her associates, and Alice was the most gracious host. She made check in a lovely personal experience, making us coffees and giving a map of the city with all her suggestions for food and activities. Suggestions that we took full advantage of and had a wonderful time experiencing. I greatly recommend staying at this beautiful property, it was a delight!

L'Antica Review!!!!
This place was absolutely beautiful, Alessandro and Alice were the best hosts a family could ask for. My wife and I rented the whole place for a week with my adult children and they were absolutely amazed and this place. It is right in the center of Beautiful Lucca, and only ten minute walk to anywhere in the city, and 13 minute walk to the train for day trips. We even got to meet their beautiful 6 month old child who is beautiful. We will be staying there again on our return trips to Italy, this was a first for my wife and myself and can honestly say as hosts other places have a lot to live up to if they want our business, from what places to eat, to special places to see. On a personal Note: Thank You Alessandro and Alice you made our week one of the most amazing. Joe DePasquale.

The L'Antica Bifore was the perfect stay in Lucca. One feels as though they live in Lucca, as the guest house is in the heart of town near everything, through an old door that leads upstairs to the residence. The interior is absolutely beautiful, maintained in a period style with furniture, murals, artwork and every element consistent with an elegant historic residence from the 1200s. The room was comfortable, with stained glass windows, heating and air conditioning, and every detail thought through. Alice and Allessandro are the owners and hosts, and they pay attention to every detail and are attentive to every need. There are so many thoughtful touches and everything is clean and well maintained. I recommend getting the breakfast, as Alice puts together a beautiful box of pastries, juices, fruits and coffee. She also made suggestions for sightseeing, dining, apertivo, and wine tasting, and diligently helped us with reservations. Allessandro manages one of the top restaurants in town and he reserved a table on the piazza one cool night with blankets and overhead heaters making for a comfortable night out. The guest house is in the middle of everything with plenty of shopping and restaurants and food vendors all around. There is free parking outside town, or one can pay for parking inside and walk to the guest house. If driving, I recommend paying to park to unload/load bags nearer to the guest house, and then parking in the free parking outside the city walls.

Best Hosts. In the middle of historic center.
Alessandro and Alicia malted away any leftover anxiety from coordinating luggage drop-off and off-site parking. They are true naturals as hosts. The bathroom, quite small of course, still could have used a small table or chest to put our toiletries on. Otherwise, we were most comfortable. Our huge window opened up to the basilica directly across the narrow active street. Our hosts helped us locate bikes, make suggestions, and shared a most special restaurant to dine, one where they both are employed as manager and server.

A wonderful, beautiful and clean guesthouse
The most beautiful guesthouse in the most sought-after location – I cannot fault this place! Stefano was a wonderful host who welcomed us at check-in and talked to us about the best things to see in Lucca. The bedrooms, like the entrance/dining room, were out of this world! It was truly an immersive and wonderful experience in a beautiful city with lots to offer.

Grand base in a beautiful town
This is a wonderful ancient building right in the middle of town, and our room had great character with original windows opening directly onto the church opposite, painted murals and antique furniture. Really affordable at this time of year. The shower is tiny and the bed is two singles together - I'd prefer a proper double but that's ok. The room overlooks a central street but it's quiet overnight. We did bring earplugs as the street starts to wake up by 7 or so, but there was never the rowdiness we have at home. Our confirmation email from hotels.com had "free breakfast" under the heading of "facilities" but this isn't the case this time of year; to make up for this mistake, Stefano gave us vouchers for the cafe round the corner that we liked anyway, so we were happy with that. Stefano and Brid are really welcoming and helped with recommendations for restaurants - everything we ate and drank over five days was delicious.

Great stay
We stayed for 2 nights in mid-December and Stefano and Bríd couldn't have been more accommodating. We needed to change our booking to stay an extra night due to work commitments, and they were amazingly helpful and hospitable. The guesthouse is beautiful, with large comfortable rooms and useful amenities like a coffee maker, wifi etc. We loved our two nights here. Stefano gave us some helpful suggestions for places to eat and things to see, which were great - we ended up at one of his recommended restaurants two nights in a row! Lucca is beautiful and we enjoyed exploring during the bustle of Christmas, but without many tourists.

Traditional tower house accommodation
The accommodation is in an old tower house which was so interesting to see. Our room was at the back overlooking a quiet square with a lovely bathroom with stonework everywhere. Just lovely. Our friends were in the front and for them their experience was not the same. A very noisy street until 4.00am and then the street cleaners and a stall setting up meant they had no sleep, meanwhile we were happily unaware of this. The breakfast in the morning was quite basic with a selection of danish and croissant. Maybe some more traditional Italian meats and cheeses with fresh fruit would have been a nice addition. Hard though when there are only 4 rooms as you could have a lot of wasted uneaten food. My husband and I were happy with the choice offered. The location is ideal. We were dropped off outside the door in a taxi and collected at the same point. Restaurants, the walls and all the sights are walking distance. A beautiful property in a stunning location. Lucca was a delightful visit and we are so pleased we added it to our stay.

I'm surprised by all of the positive reviews here. It's a charming place in a good location but overall disappointing. It's way too loud to sleep at night. The beds are old and uncomfortable. The sheets were old and stained, it looked like old blood splatter on the sheets. Breakfast was just coffee and a few bad pastries. It's not a hotel, it's an apartment with separated rooms. Defiantly needs better beds and fresh sheets and towels.

Hello Michael and Jill, We feel the need to respond to some of the issues you raised. We are located on the main pedestrian street of the historical centre. If you wanted total silence you should have stayed outside a city centre. You room has huge stained glass windows dating back to the 1600s. They have been carefully restored and are actually double glazed! The accommodation is a 14th century restore medieval house once home of the Taddicioni's a noble family of Lucca. It is part of the Torre del Travaglio, one of the three medieval towers of Lucca. It is not an apartment. If you had taken the time to look at the description on Expedia you would see that we are actually a B&B/Guesthouse and not a hotel. We use a laundry service and our linen and towels are professional cleaned. They are also all brand new as they are completely replaced every season. Your comment about blood splattered laundry is actually defamatory. All of our beds are fitted with top of the range orthopaedic mattress which are meant to be firm and therefore better for your back. Breakfast is more than just "coffee and bad pastries" Our breakfast, is a blend of a typical Italian and a continental one: it consists of fresh bread and just-out-of-the-oven croissants both from a typical local baker, home-made cakes, biscuits,jam, honey, butter, fruit, fresh tomatoes, cereals, yoghurt, fruit juice, and a variety of hot drinks such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, hot chocolate, tea, herbal tea, lattes etc. etc. We are really sorry if our breakfast didn't satisfy you. When you stayed you were with your 3 children aged 10, 12 and 13 yrs. We had to ask you to quieten them down as they were making so much noise and were disturbing other guests. We feel that you took offence to this and hence the negative misleading review.

I absolutely loved this hotel!! Its medieval look and feel was something completely new to me!! And the fact that they only have 4 rooms, you definitely feel catered to. Amazing!!! Beyond expectations!
Amazing place in centuries-old building. The beautiful stain-glass window in our room opens to Via Fillungo (a narrow street full of character) within the historic city center. Our hosts served continental breakfast each morning to a small group of people staying there, which provided neat opportunities to chat with other tourists. They were also very helpful with dinner recommendations/reservations at the best restaurants in Lucca. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Beautifully restored - l’Antica Bifore is a gorgeous property set on the first floor of the building. High ceilings, original features and Italianate decor. The shared entrance/breakfast room has a stunning stone fireplace and chandelier. Our room had an enormous mullioned window offering a stunning view of the church opposite and the street below. Yes, a little noisy - because it is set in the heart of Lucca, but we felt this was atmospheric and being so central means you are close to everything for sightseeing, restaurants and bars. Our room was beautifully decorated and styled with antique furniture and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our hosts Stefano and Brid were a wealth of helpful information - what charming people! They are extremely knowledgeable about Lucca and gave us invaluable advice and tips for our visit, including a restaurant recommendation where we had an amazing meal in traditional Lucchese style. Lucca is a special place for us - we will return and when we do, we would definitely stay at l’Antica Bifore again.

The property literally sits across the street from a beautiful, historic church. As as lifelong student and lover of Jung and art, imagine my delight to be in the apartment directly across from the Church’s principal mandala window! Aside from that our hosts were superb. We arrived late in the evening after a complicated day of travel. Brid was outside waiting when the cab dropped us off. She had thought to make a dinner reservation in advance. The apartment, located in central Lucca, had everything we needed. Brid and Stefano were available to help with questions about the apartment as well as offered recommendations about making the most of our 2 days in this charming city. If we return to Lucca we would love to stay here again!

While the bathrooms and electricity have been modernized, L'Antica Bifore the owners, Stefano and Brid have retained the property's medieval charm. Parking is a challenge, but the hosts went above and beyond to make sure our car was properly parked to avoid hefty fines. Once we checked in, we were able to step out from the door into the most popular walking street in this walled city. Stefano and Brid helped with directions and dinner reservations. After our three night stay, we felt like we were family. We definitely recommend this lovely and historic guest hotel as a base for exploring Lucca.

located in the center of this wonderful old city you can't make a better choice than this hotel, located in a building from the 1300's, open the shutters and see a church from the 1100's. our host was perfect with check in, breakfast and were to eat as a local, so much appreciated

My husband and I stayed here for one night and absolutely loved it! The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and Brid and Stefano are excellent hosts. The B&B's location is conveniently located right in the middle of Lucca so you'll be within walking distance of all the major sights. There was some street noise in the morning, but nothing out of control. We 110% recommend this location for your next stay while in Lucca :))

Ideal base in Lucca
We booked rooms in this lovely B&B in a historic building in the heart of Lucca for our family holiday. The rooms had beautiful original shuttered windows and a view onto Via Fillungo, the main shopping street in Lucca. They were a good size with high ceilings and interestingly furnished with antiques. Even though the weather was quite hot during our visit, the air conditioning kept the bedrooms cool so that we all slept well. There was plenty of choice for breakfast in the communal dining area with cereal, pastries, bread, cheese, meat, fruit, yogurt, juice, tea or coffee. Bríd and Stefano, were very friendly and helpful, giving us some great travel tips and restaurant recommendations that really added to our enjoyment of our time in Lucca. Their advice on car parking was particularly useful. There are plenty of information leaflets and books available for guests in the dining room. My teenage son particularly appreciated the free wifi and my parents the tea and coffee making facilities. I would recommend L’Antica Bifore to anyone going to Lucca as an ideal base to explore the city and surrounding countryside. You step out of the door straight onto Via Fillungo and only a few minutes walk from any of the tourist attractions in the city. It is a 10 minute walk to the train station and frequent trains to Pisa and Florence. Guests should be aware the B&B is up two flights of stone stairs and there is no lift as this is a protected structure, but my parents (70s) managed fine!

Great little guest house in a great location. Friendly owners who made us feel very welcome. Quite noisy on the street but it didn't disturb our toddler and we were only there one night so not too much of a problem .

Historic house right in the centre of Lucca.
Situated on Lucca's Bond Street, so great for window shopping and handy for everything. Good restaurants very close. Owners could not be more helpful. Interior decoration spectacular.

Architectural delight in heart of Lucca
The guesthouse hosts Bri And Setefano were warm and attentive to our needs throughout our stay. Staying in a medieval tower is indeed a unique experience. Lucca is a beautiful Tuscan city full of Romanesque churches, delicious food, completely surrounded by intact city walls where everyone takes their exercise....add many bookshops and beautiful people....what else do you need!?

I Loved it there!
I was only there for two days, but they treated me like family- so helpful with everything, went out of their way in every way they could. I can't recommend it highly enough!!!

Delightful gem in the heart of Lucca
From our surprise greeting on the street in front of the guest house to the thankful good-byes, our time at the L Antica Bifore was a delight. Brid and Stefano were gracious hosts and most helpful with local information and suggestions. We would not hesitate to return on our next visit to Lucca!

Great experience!
Beautiful 14th century four room guesthouse. Wonderful location, gorgeous stone walls, leaded glass windows, old timber roof room overlooking small vibrant street. Perfect location with kind and helpful hosts. We will always try to stay here if in Lucca.
