Comfort and convenience

Posted 19-Nov-2014
Pros: We loved the location, which is so convenient for West End theatres, cinemas and restaurants.
Cons: We would have preferred to have paper tissues in the bathroom.
Location: Right by Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery, Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace are all within walking distance.
Having worked in the area for many years, it was a wonderful surprise to find such a great hotel in the centre of London. Bedrooms are practical but elegant and breakfast choices good.

Not worth the price!

Posted 27-Oct-2014
Pros: Not a thing.
Cons: Everything listed above.
When I checked in, my room was ready but I was told that I could not check in before the 3:00 check-in time unless I wanted to pay an extra $80. I've never had that happen before, particularly when traveling overseas. If you stay here, bring your own iron - there is one on each floor in a locker in the hallway - if someone else has it or leaves for dinner and does not put it up, you are out of luck. And Kleenex, bring that too. When I checked in my room was pre-paid but they placed a hold of $100 on my credit card (just in case). Now that I am home, I find that they put this charge through without justification - I never spent any thing in the hotel. The front desk staff is churlish and completely unhelpful. I know London better than they do! They have no idea where anything is and are unable to make any suggestions at all. And to top it off, my bathroom had not been cleaned - lots of long brown hair on the floor. Lovely. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Disappointing bedroom

Posted 21-Oct-2014
Pros: Reception area
Cons: Kettle in the room and do not advertise as a superior room. This is not compared to other hotels.
I booked to stay with my daughter and granddaughter. Room was supposed to be a superior with Kitchenette. I was really disappointed. Tiny room with no space after single bed was opened up. Kitchenette was just a sink next to the cupboard. No kettle in the room, but just a single coffee peculator which did one cup at a time very slowly, not good first thing in the morning when 3 need a cup of tea. The reception area was beautiful though, and it was pleasant to sit and have a nightcap in. Great location but would not stay again.

Location

Posted 18-Oct-2014
Pros: Location, clean, quiet.
Cons: Somewhat small rooms but that didn't bother us much.
Stayed at the hotel for 5 days in October. Very pleased with the stay. Awesome location, so we walked almost everywhere.

Great Location

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pros: We loved being walking distance to everything including theaters.
Cons: Another easy chair in the room so two persons could relax after a day of walking the city.
Location: Close to Trafalgar Square and many other tourist attractions and lots of theaters.
The hotel was excellent and we would return on another visit. We found the restaurants in the hotel did not have enough casual or light dining. A coffee shop style facility would have been a welcome addition so we could pop in for a light snack in the evening. Otherwise the hotel was superb.

Central and very convenient for transport links.

Posted 10-Oct-2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable and well positioned.
Cons: Noise from adjacent evening functions slightly distracting.
Location: Good base for all central London attractions.
Was a sightseeing trip, The Grand provided the perfect base. Ate breakfast next door, there is a choice of two restaurants which are adjacent to the hotel. Breakfast in the hotel is also a (more expensive) option.

Humble room in a great location.

Posted 22-Sep-2014
Pros: Location was great. The bar area was nice and promoted conversation.
Cons: A mirror could be added to the work desk so it could double as a makeup mirror for the ladies.
Location: The hotel was about 200 yards from Trafalgar Square. The West End Theatre District begins immediately to the north and west of the Square.
Since the hotel is an older building the rooms were a bit small - the bathroom as well. Our room was on the back of the building so the view outside the window was the dead space between the hotel and other buildings.
