Fireworks delight
Very courteous staff who couldn’t do enough, the biggest tip, new yr eve, book a suite on top floor, we opened the curtains to a fantastic surprise, a perfect view of the London eye, Big Ben and the fireworks

Fab overnight stay before going to airport.. excellent location for Victoria literary minutes to walk so close to all main attractions if you enjoy walking..only down fall is the lifting of my luggage up 4 floors... but this does not affect my lovely stay.. thank you

Very nice room, appeared recently refurbished. Clean, nice decor, plenty of towels etc. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom good. Big TV. All communal areas very attractive . Staff friendly, easy check in. Very good value for central London. Pay by phone or app parking bays nearby, free after 6.30pm . Short walk to Victoria station, theatres, Tate gallery etc. Thoroughly recommend The Portico. Will come again.

Property was perfect for our last night stay in London. The room we stayed in was nicely updated and clean. The fact that we had a queen 2 single beds was unique a good for a family with 2 kids who didn't want to share a bed. Hotel held luggage before check-in. About a 10 minute walk from Victoria Station with trains, tube, and buses in a quiet neighborhood. Was perfect for our purposes.

Room and bathroom were clean and updated. Shower was roomy and water pressure was great, the room wasn’t as cramped as some other London hotels were have stayed in but the bathroom it’s self is quite small. Breakfast was adequate.

There was no lift. I should have checked this as I have mobility issues. Otherwise my room was pleasant and comfortable, the location of the hotel was convenient and it suited my purposes for the night

Nice but room is very small
The room was quite cramped as there was no room between the end of the bed and the dressing table. The room and bathroom itself was clean and nicely decorated. Because there was only 2 of us staying the lack of room was ok but if we had cases and another person it would have not been suitable despite having a single bed additional.

Great stay, cannot fault. Room was small and only had a window facing a wall, however this is a perfect place to stay if you are only using it to sleep in, which we did. The bed was super comfy

I needed an emergency stay as the hotel i originally booked was over booked and at 3am i had nowhere to go. Booked this hotel on Expedia and when i arrived the hotel was closed with a notice on the door saying due to covid 19 they could no longer stay in business. That if I walked down the street to another property they might help. *might help* nice.... its now 4am.... and I've just flown in and I'm exhausted. I walk myself over to this sister property called 29 something. And there is no one there. Their front door glass is smashed and a note saying to call a number.... 30 min later and 3 calls later someone finally arrives at the door to tell me no room. I attempt to call Expedia but halfway through my call got disconnected. So they dude finds me a basement room. The smell of wet mould is terrible. It actually smells like cat urine. The walls are black with mould and my room has so mych water damnage and is leaking. $179 for this ...... its now 430am . The original room was to provide breakfast but there was no breakfast. I asked if I could check out later instead... i was told there was a £20 charge... even after all the hassle. I travel a lot.... like a lot a lot and I've never actually complained about a stay before. Thats how horrendous this was. Then entire experience was brutal start to finish. I work for cruise ships and I've been to hotels all over the world. Some hostles and some very questionable places. But this was the worst stay

The room was ok, but in one part there was plaster and paint peeling off the walls , very noisy late at night , creeky floors and slamming doors , breakfast was awful!! Would not go back!!

The hotel is permanently closed! They send you to a shabbily decorated hotel down the road called “the airways hotel”. Our room smelt really bad of faeces and the breakfast is grab and go, which is not specified when booking. It included a cereal bar, an apple and a yoghurt… not great value for money. Also I compared the prices of the portico and the airways and the airways is at least 1/3 cheaper than the portico.

The hotel is closed, I have asked hotels.com to take it off their website until it reopens. There is a sign on the door saying your booking will be honoured at the hotel over the road. This hotel has paper thin walls, it was so noisy we couldn't sleep. The phone in our room was called by reception multiple times asking us to keep the noise down, our room was silent!!! I was left in an anxious state worried about the phone ringing and waking up the kids, the noise from other guests running in the corridors was awful, I did not feel safe an secure.

Great hotel in a convenient location
The Portico was closed due to Covid so we ended up at the sister hotel down the road called The 29. Great staff, clean and comfortable room in a convenient location, we will definitely stay here again. Also can I say how nice it was there were enough towels for all 3 of us. We always have to ask for an extra towel in other hotels. Plus my 12 year old got his own real bed and not a sofa bed. We had a really stay and will definitely stay again.

We didnt actually stay at this hotel. We arrived for our stay and there was a notice on the door saying it was closed due to Covid and we should go to no 29. There was no phone call or email, just the notice. The staff in the other hotel were helpful. The room seemed smaller than the one I had booked but its difficult to tell. Breakfast is in bags that you collect from reception. The yogurts in the bags were 4 days out fo date, luckily my daughter noticed before we ate one. Reception said they had come from the supplier the day before - either way someone should have checked.

Not worth it. Terrible room and service with no professionalism. The staff did not clean the room, old cig budds in the room. Bathroom shower not working (overflowing). When we alerted the staff they said they will look into it but did not do anything. At 10pm when we are about to go to bed, the care taker comes in with a bucket of shampoo to top up the dispenser. It is a hostel not a hotel. Staff are slow and terrible. Not worth it and never going again.

A lovely stay at the Portico
Beautiful hotel. A hidden gem. The Portico Hotel beautiful and unique decor, with only a 10 minute walk to Victoria station, through safe and vibrant streets. Beds are comfortable with space for luggage below beds. Bathroom was on the smaller side, however luxurious and clean. Breakfast is served across the road. This is just a continental breakfast, rather than buffet style hot food. It can become very busy, with limited space.

Beautifully decorated, cosy, comfy bed, quite a trek up the stairs but personally I appreciate the exercise. Continental breakfast very average in hotel over the road due to renovations, but did the job for me. LOVE the fact their TVs are smart TVs and you can watch youtube and catch up tv without having to connect your own devices to their public wifi. Also I would like to know where they got their dark grey and orange cushions because they would suit my living room aesthetic perfectly and I have been searching for sofa cushions for *years*

Amazing service with great value
My stay was amazing and at great value. The staff was so friendly and helpful it made my stay even more better. I had a very bad experience the morning before with a different place to stay so coming to the hunover and the staff being the way they were really made my stay in London a lot better.

The view from my room and the surrounding area was wonderful, but it just does not seem clean. Carpets should be changed altogether but rooms and bathrooms need a deep clean.
