“clean room, excellent location”

me and my girlfriend stayed at Hotel Florida for 5 nights. the room was always clean. the location is excellent as it is located at the border of the old down town and sao sebastiao. it is right at the marques de pombal metro station. rossio (let's say the main square) is a 10-minute walk or 2 stops with underground.

“Fun design, good service.”

We stayed at Hotel Florida for our first anniversary. The original room we were given was a twin with the beds pushed together. When we asked, we were moved rooms, no problems to a king/superking room. Both rooms were large and very comfortable. The hollywood theme was good fun and it was nice to go around the hotel looking at the movie quotes on the walls. Hotel was very handy for the metro (just round the corner) and the busses to all parts of Lisbon. A leisurely walk downhill took you to the downtown Rossio square (about 15-20 mins). Overall a very comfortable stay. The only complaint was that the cleaner could be a bit hit and miss, e.g. not putting the pillows back on the bed, not replenishing the coffee. This would not put me off staying here again though.

“Clean, convenient, sandpaper towels. Lisbon is well worth a visit.”

Central Location, clean & friendly staff, good firm beds, only negative was towels were a bit on the sandpapery side. Good breakfast, overall a pleasure to stay at the hotel. Would probably return.

“Great Location-Bad Service”

The hotel is very central and close to the hop on-hop off bus at the Marques de Pombal Square. The room was comfortable and clean, although a bit worn. The hotel bar is lifeless and cold and they could really utilise the seating area on the mezzanine level more if they put in comfortable chairs and tables (the ones currently there are very 'arty' but not comfortable). The staff, however, leave a lot to be desired. They are cold, and unhelpful. It seemed like we were bothering them any time we had a question. They really need to work on their customer service. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to the Praca do Comercio square. It is also very close to Ave. de Liberdade (the main avenue) and a lot of shops, so quite central and well located. There are a few good 'authentic' places to eat around the hotel, but don't ask the staff - their recommendations were awful. Instead, explore on your own. I would stay at this hotel again only because of the convenient location and the great deal through expedia. For a great night out, walk down to the Ave. de Liberdade to the Tivoli hotel and have a drink at their Sky Lounge/Bar. It is located on the top floor of the hotel and has fantastic views of Lisbon. It is breathtaking, especially at dusk!

“A very conveniently located hotel in Lisbon”

Florida hotel is more a 3 stars hotel than a 4 stars. It definitely does not have the facilities expected in a 4 stars hotel. However, we enjoyed staying there for several reasons: - the location is super convenient: it is 2 min walk from the Marques de Pombal metro station, therefore very well connected to the city metro network, there is a bank teller near the metro station and a supermarket at 5 minutes walk. And if one does not want to take the metro, it is about 20 minutes walk from Plaça do commercio. - the room was spacious (however, the bathroom, was really old and not very well equipped) and the tv had a great choice of international channels (and not only CNN-BBC!!) - the staff was very friendly and helpful.

“Best in Lisbon!”

I have traveled almost all over the world and Hotel Florida is in my top 5 list. Location is the best. Cleanliness is the best. Hospitality is the best. Only annoying thing is the sound coming from the next building - i guess it was an A.C. sound, but too noisy. Service is great. Front desk answers all the questions you have , just like a travel guide. I am absolutetly recommending you this place. You will enjoy it.

“Decent hotel, but nothing special”

We stayed there for three nights from 30 April at the Tarantino room. The hotel was okay, definitely not 4 star. The room we got was fairly small and facing a wall, so not the best - we asked to change and they agreed to do so the next day, but we decided to stay put because it would've been a lot of hassle. As with the other reviews, the bathroom had a bit of a weird smell as there was no ventilation and the door to the bathroom did not close properly. Positive side of the hotel was the location, it was right next to a metro station, 3 stops to the centre and about a 20 minute walk. Service was good, and staff were friendly.

“Nice Hotel & Good Value”

The hotel staff was friendly. A good size and clean room was provided and it was nicely design as was the rest of the hotel. The choices at breakfast were nice and the dining room has a beautiful view of the city.

“Not a four star hotel”

On a positive side, the hotel's location was really convenient. Nice neighborhood, great location (right across from the subway). Also, the breakfast was really nice, with a nice view, nice service, and hot and cold buffet. On the negative side, this hotel could NEVER be a 4 star hotel. There was a weird smell coming from the bathroom, the pillows and quilts - although clean - were very low-quality and the bed very uncomfortable. You could easily notice that the furniture and lamps were actually very cheap. The decoration was very cold. This was all worsened because the personnel gave us a room right next to the elevator (which was extremely disturbing and noisy), so please make sure that you get a better room when you check in. If they give you a room next to the elevator while the hotel is almost empty, this is really not a very good hospitality sign.
