old world Pub, odd shaped rooms, creaky uneven floor, fiddly corridors. Room number 4, is at the back of the pub,it backs onto an alley way, the other building is about six feet from your window... which was only about two foot square. When we arrived the window was open, but the temperature in the room must have been around 30 degrees..Being in our sixties, and both have breathing issues, I thought this does not bode well. We could not sleep at all as the bed slopes back to the head board end, the pillows were wet through with sweat. There was a small fan on the window sill, I ran this on full till 3 am, then had to turn it off because of the noise.hoping to try and fall asleep. The lighting was dreadful, with all three lights on it was still to dark to read the newspaper.
I mentioned all this to the young man working in the bar, told him I couldn't stop the next evening because of the room, but he still charged us.. I thought he might have discussed a part payment. I was very disappointed.. The breakfast I have to say was the best value and probably the best I have ever had. delicious. The bar is very vibrant and lively and a nice atmosphere.
I dread to think what the room was like during the recent hot weather.I suspect unbearable. sorry to sound so negative, but we were really looking forward to staying.
