Absolutely gorgeous and homey
The house was fantastic! My only issues were the microwave I couldn’t get to work, the heater in my room wouldn’t come on, and there was only one TV upstairs and no internet that I know of. Luckily I didn’t need much internet and was able to use my phone. But the owner was nice and the house and history of it warms your heart! Very peaceful! A little mixup about the check out time but he was gracious enough to be accommodating at my mistake. Overall I will DEFINITELY be back!

Perfect, Quiet getaway
My husband and I rented this beautiful old farm house from Rodney, whose family built it many years ago. We so enjoyed the rich history and charming decor along with Rodney's stories of his childhood in the home. We looked around at the framed photographs of his family and marveled at the detail in the home, built so many years ago. It truly was a special place and we would love to visit again soon! Rodney was very accommodating for us and our dog, Gracie.

Peaceful and nostalgic
Granny's Castle sits out in the county close, but away from town. It had a nice long drive to make your stay private with a large yard so the kids could run after a long drive. We were welcomed by Rodney when we arrived and he gave me the keys and tour and instructions for our stay. Granny's Castle was full of family photos and had a very nostalgic feel to it. Honestly it filled a void that I've been missing for years since losing my own grandmother. It felt just like being at Grandma's. Even if it was an over night stay as we were passing through, it was just what we needed to complete our busy week on vacation. Checkout was a breeze and we absolutely loved everything about this place. Thank you Rodney for everything and we would love to come back some day.

Peace and quiet
The farmhouse was so nice and we enjoyed our time there. Being from the area, this house was a great reminder of growing up in the area and how peaceful this place is. Sitting on the porch, drinking coffee in the mornings was our favorite part of staying here. Our daughters who love history found the house so interesting and have asked to come back. We hope to stay again some day.

Roaming the cornfields with old mutts
My friend and I took the dogs and stayed in this quaint farm house in the hills. There was a cozy easy chair and a couch for reading books in the living room. The beds were comfortable. Upstairs all the bedrooms connect, and the beds were beautifully covered with quilts. Interesting pictures and knickknacks everywhere. The kitchen is adequately supplied and we did not eat out at all in 5 days. There is a relaxing clawfoot tub and a separate shower. In addition there is an outside shower which is fun, but shower fast as the hot water does not last long. There are rocking chairs on the porch and no visible passing cars as the house is at the end of Johnson Road. Owner, Rodney, is wonderful and very responsive.

Quiet Location in Farming Community
We had a great stay in a wonderful old farmhouse surrounded by fields of corn and trees. Spa Lake was only a mile away and provided for leisurely kayaking (motor boats limited to small electric motors). The rolling hills and farms of Kentucky were beautiful and made for a great convertible ride. Want to go back soon!

Going back in time!!!!!
Soothing, tranquil and feels like staying at grandmas! Nothing is spared. The owner stops in daily and is just a joy to be able to talk to. The cicadas were so loud that our one dog would not go outside for long. Lol Outdoor shower was a dream. Books to read, movies to watch. Russellville has everything…. Only 20 min away. The weather was so hot that the pond was not clean enough fir our dogs to play. But we sat out under the trees and rested!!! Doug n Sherie of Michigan!!!!

Relaxing country home
Our family of 6, plus dog, had a lovely, very relaxing time at this home. Rodney was very responsive and easy to work with. Our kids enjoyed exploring the grounds around the house. Russellville was only about a 20 minute drive away for eating out and stocking up on supplies. We would stay here again!

Just what we needed!
My husband and I needed a weekend getaway where we could just relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the country. This place was perfect. The house was like stepping back into time and visiting grandparents. It was very clean and the property was beautiful and so peaceful. We spent most of our weekend on the front porch or at the pond. Cant say enough good things about this place. Thank you! Would love to bring our kids with us next time!

Granny’s Castle was a perfect place to get away for a day and unwind. We fished in the small pond and got bites almost immediately every time. The house was very unique with pictures of the family who lived in the house. We enjoyed the unique furniture as well which added to the vibe of the property. Lovely place.

Beautiful escape from the city
I stayed here with my brother and my daughter while we visited my dad who lives nearby. Everything was clean and the house was exactly as pictured. My two small dogs enjoyed running free on the first day, but a hawk with what appeared to be a 4 foot wingspan swooped down too close for an inspection so I opted to keep them leashed when outside. Bigger dogs would be fine though, and it’s a great place for them to explore. We all enjoyed the beauty of the area and were pleased with the well equipped farmhouse that reminded my brother and I of our grandparents’ home that we so loved visiting as children.

A trip into the past!
We choose this location for our family reunion this year and had a wonderful time. The cousins remarked on how similar the home was to the old homestead which brought up so many memories and tall tales! It was a beautiful home and we had everything we needed. Just what we needed!
What an amazing experience being to disconnect for a few days and focus on our family. We loved being able to explore, go fishing and let our dogs run free. They are exhausted and probably a little sad to leave. The house had everything we needed and Rodney was a pleasure to work with. We def recommend and will be staying here in the future!

Peacefully Beautiful
We booked the farm house last minute because my son was in town visiting. We wanted a place we could bring our dog that had peace and quite. This place was perfect. The house is beautiful and nostalgic. There was lots of room for our dog to run, pretty sure he was sad when we had to go back home. He was vary much at piece here. I would highly recommend staying here. Rodney was vary nice and gave us all the details we needed. It caused us to detach from the world and enjoy each other company. Again I would highly recommended staying here.

A magical place of rest
My wife and I were in desperate need of some time away when we found Granny's castle. It's truly a magical place filled with a deep feeling of love and family. It is tucked away in endless corn fields with a giant back yard, wooded trails and fire pits. The inside is incredibly decorated, comfortably furnished and filled with lots to do. It's just a perfect place for rest and rejuvenation. We will most definitely come back.

We wanted a relaxing trip
Awesome, we wanted to scout the area and possibly move there in the future. It was awesome. The house reminded me of growing up in Ohio and I kept wondering when Grandma would show up. The area is surrounded with farms and a slow pace of life. Exactly what we wanted and needed. It is hard to believe you can find such a perfect home at such an affordable price. This house is a must rent if you want to get away. We fished in the pond and caught numerous pan fish. Blue gills that is. We should have cooked some one night. Farmhouse for Family
My family stayed for the weekend, and my extended family came for the day to celebrate the fourth of July. We all enjoyed it and had a wonderful time! It's roughing it a little bit with the window AC and one bathroom. We found everything we needed for cooking multiple meals - indoor oven, outdoor grill, mac n' cheese pot, egg pan, etc. There's plenty of spaces inside and out for relaxing. Rodney was terrific to work with - answered all of my family's questions. My dad would have talked to him even more when he came by to check on us, but Rodney was brief and went on his way. It's secluded, which worked well for our group to have the house and large yard to ourselves. We picked cattails by the pond, and a cousin lost a baseball in it we think (sorry). Nearly everyone had a memory of growing up in or visiting a grandparent with a similar farmhouse - a great place to be reminded of old memories and make new ones. Our day ended with a rainbow over the driveway and cornfields. Would recommend for a family gathering!

Cutest house ever!
This was the nicest place I think we’ve ever stayed! From how clean it is was to the beautiful view to the Johnsons kindness for letting us experience there family home. It’s also dog friendly which is important to us. Our two furry girls had the best time here they have had on any trip with us. We will 100% be returning 😃
