Disappointing! Not a 4 star as advertised.

Pros: Comfortable bed Quiet room Friendly staff
Cons: Renovation Broken items should be fixed especially at £110/night! Use a different laundry company Parking in the evenings
Location: Shopping centre with Cinema Retail park About 8 miles to Glasgow central
I recently visited East Kilbride for business so I booked in at the Holiday Inn for 6 nights. I'll start with the good points. For a hotel so close to a busy road it was remarkably quiet. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were quite spacious (I was in a junior suite). The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was acceptable. Now the bad points....I paid for an upgrade to an Executive room and was put into a junior suite. At first glace this was a pleasant room but on closer inspection the electric shaver socket in the bathroom was cracked, the silicone around the bath and sink needs replacing as they were black and cracked tiles were the physical issues with the room. As part of an executive room I was entitled to "upgraded" toiletries these were replenished 2 of 6 nights and on one occasion I had to go to reception for more shower gel! Whilst on the subject of toiletries there were soap/hand wash canisters on the walls of the bathroom. Now these might be acceptable in a budget hotel but this was advertised on Expedia as 4-star. I have never seen these in a 4-star hotel before. In addition to the toiletries not being replenished the "free" bottles of water were only replenished 3 times during my stay. In the end, I just bought some from a supermarket on my way back from the office. Laundry is a shambles. It took 2 days to have my clothes be returned only because I complained. Q hotel in Cumbernauld is a 4-star and you should look at how they do things.

Hotel bit tired however I came to this hotel to study driving theory. I had a great rest and enjoyed a full day in the spa. The staff were super attentive and cheary and as a single person for the weekend I felt safe and included at all times. Theory went well and I will surely be returning for a welcoming rest from being a wife , work and mum chores. Thank you for looking after me so well.

NOT a value for money

U can find alot better hotels in East Kilbride with half the price and twice the quality. Very expensive - not a value for money - old style room with bad painting and very old furniture

Could be better

Nice hotel that is in needs a little tender love and care to bring it back up to a good standard. Staff are friendly, but the ones at breakfast could be a little more interested in the customers rather that chatting to each other.

Pros: Good location
Cons: Fire the dining staff and kitchen staff and start again. The serving manager was told of our wait and he didn't seem to care.
Location: It was a good spot to reach the ferry to Belfast.
The wifi in the hotel didn't work and the heat in our room didn't work. We were told there was no room to eat in the dining room at 5:30 PM and the dining room wasn't even a quarter full at that time. It then took us over two hours to eat dinner in the bar as the kitchen was too busy. Very poor serving staff. The bartender was great, very apologetic, and very nice.

Filthy room and corridors and terrible service

Posted 05-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Not enough room to comment on how poor this hotel was. Executive room we had booked was upgraded to a junior suite but as the window wouldn't shut and the room was very noisy from traffic we had to move to a standard quiet room but no refund. Only recompense was a few extra IHG rewards points. Room was dirty and corners not been hoovered nor had the corridors. Asked for the dead flies to be hoovered up but on return only one had gone and corners of room thick with dust. Asked for the executive room extras to be provided but they didn't bother the 2nd day until asked. Showered on the 2nd day only to find we only had one bath towel. Dead insects on corridors hadn't been hoovered in 2 days. When checking under the bed on departure found a screwed up dirty towel that wasn't us and must have been there all weekend ! Breakfast service was very poor especially on the 2nd morning and it wasn't that busy. No orange juice, and other items were not being replaced until asked such as bread, croissants etc. When I commented on the fact that my soft poached egg was hard, not even an apology was given, Other numerous problems which I have complained about to the hotel

Hotel feedback

The hotel is a little but remote and you will require transport although local taxi service is good and resonably cheap to local station. Hotel is quiet big and can get busy but facilities are good. I would rate this as a standard hotel.
