This is an excellent and affordable apart-hotel close to the city center but away from the craziness of Maidan and Khreshchatyk. It is located in an old (i.e., super tall ceilings) renovated building on a residential street half a block away from the Universitet metro station. The rooms/apartments are clean and spacious with excellent bathrooms (some have washing machines). Kitchens are new and well stocked. The hotel does not have a restaurant or some other amenities of big hotel chains like Hilton, but it is much cheaper and just as comfortable for a few days or a longer business/vacation stay. The hotel is located close to several very good breakfast and dinner options (the pie place on the corner is a must!) and in walking distance to many major attractions in Kyiv.
The staff was very helpful and courteous and spoke great English. We had a bigger group (people from the US, UK, Israel, and France) staying at the hotel and an unexpected technical problem occurred right before our arrivals. The staff at first tried to move several of our rooms to a different hotel (at no cost and with upgrades) but when they realized that we had more rooms booked for the group, they worked with us to resolve the situation and made it so that we all stayed together at the originally booked hotel. They even gave each of us a complimentary box of chocolates for our troubles!
It was a great stay for all of us and we would definitely consider Senator for our next trip to Kyiv!
