This is a property where you have to dig a bit to find out that check-in ends at 8pm. I did think to call and confirm we were going to check-in late, but there was no obvious indication that this was necessary (I was just thinking it was advisable, not necessary) & I never had the time during the day. When we showed up at 10pm, we couldn't even get into the area (there were bollards blocking cars & a key coder to let people in & of course we had no key code). We parked outside & walked in - the hotel was locked & no one answered the phone. They never contacted us in any way to let us know we were pushing up against their check-in deadline. So fortunately there was another reasonably-priced hotel nearby with a 24-hr reception desk. I blame Expedia as well - we just asked for a hotel near the airport & we got this boutique hotel in the old part of Kranj - we just wanted a budget hotel to crash before our flight in the morning.

Dear naomi this situation that you discribe is not quite correct at all , -first when you made a reservation you recive an emial with all the info you need to know about check - in and parking and etc. you got that message at expedia chat center ( but did you read it ? ) -and we also try to contact you by phone/calling you but unffortunetly unllucky (we allways try to call a guest if they dont arrive untill check in time ), -because we thouth you are unable to have phone service or some other trouble on the way to our place. We send you an email also on expidia chat with the informations for the late check in wich includes code to enter the hostel information where is your room and etc . so unfortunetly we dont know where or what happend or went wrong that you didn see /recive the email we have it in the chat sectionm mail was send . ansering the phone at that time is not posible for us we are small familly hostel and we cant affor to have a reception working 24/7 , as we working every day from 8:00- 20:00 so waiting for guests its not on option for us not knowing or they will arrive or not we have hostel for 14 year and we operate like this for all tthat period of time so sistem actualy wokrs and we can say that cases like yours are only few to noneall we want to say here is that we did what we could or what is in our best but unfortunetly in your case didnt wokr out well regardsBorut

The staff is very friendly, the room was perfect, rates are competitive, and you’re right in the heart of Kranj. Easy walking to many places to eat and drink, and plenty of sight seeing, hiking, and other opportunities. Great place, hidden gem.

Excellent Value in Kranj
Great location and value. Right in the heart of old town Kranj, which is not a well known city, but has many nice places to explore for a day or two.

We did not have a great stay. It was a very far walk from the station as the main bridge to the hostel was closed but was not told about this. No signage for any public transport or taxi. When we got to the hostel the staff were alright but a bit offish. The shower was broken and you had to hold it up, and someone tried to break the door down as I was showering. I felt very unsafe in this hostel as a woman. When we left we got a taxi recommendation from the staff, waited 45 minutes for one to turn up and got charged an extortionate amount just to get the bus stop. The room was very warm so wouldn’t recommend staying in the summer, the curtain was see through and directly opposite someone’s window. We’ve stayed in other hostels in Slovenia that were much better.

My room was beautiful and very clean. The staff was very helpful. The area around the hotel was fun (there was a music festival going on while I was there). This hotel is close to the airport, and a perfect place to stay if you don't was to travel far after a long flight. This place was a delight to stay in!

A hidden gem
What an amazing little place with the most friendliest hosts ever. The private rooms are tastefully decorated, it is super clean and very quiet. They went out of their way to provide us with a faster internet connection and offered a work location. This is a place full of positive energy and good vibes, due to the entrepreneurial owners, who make it all happen

Decent hostel
Stayed here for a quick stopover between flights and was pleased with our room. We had a private room with a nice view over the river during winter. Although there isn’t much around in Kranj, we had some jobs to do and the staff were very helpful in pointing us in the right direction for things.

Central, quiet, helpful and pleasant staff
Central to old town, comfortable, very helpful and friendly staff. Quiet, good wifi. As is in pedestrian zone, must park outside that zone and walk to hotel. One should plan luggage to take to hotel accordingly. Included breakfast could add eggs. Like most hostels we encountered, no elevator, only stairs.

We've received an message from hotel in advance saying that their check-in desk opens 5pm - 10pm which is little inconvenient to us arrange our schedule. Washer and Dryer are available but only 4pm - 10 pm. Other than these two points, hotel staffs are friendly and helpful, the location is good.

Great hostel with amazing view and kind staff
The hostel was one of the nicest I've been to. Good facility setup, and amazing view of the mountain and rivers. The hostel is in the heart of the town, which is small but still nice to visit. Good location between Lake bled and Ljubljana. I mainly stayed here to travel around other areas which worked out great. There's a free street parking nearby.

Perfect place for the budget travelor! Clean and friendly staff. Carmen was super helpful when planning day trips and taking the bus and train. The village is very sweet with a perfect atmosopher for a local experience. Cute restaurants and bars. Old world trype environment. The hotel had access to the kitchen, cool common area and patio overlooking the trees and river. Can't say enough good things!!! I had access to all of the tourists sites via the bus and train. The hostel is for all ages as well. The last day I took the night train to Munich and was able to site see all day and leave my bags at the hotel, then catch the train that night. Had an extra day in Slovenia! Super bonus!

Best Hostel I've Been To
I had an incredible time in Kranj. Peter, the host, was incredible. He helped me make a plan for my time in the country and came up with some great suggestions! The hostel itself is very nice with a beautiful view from the rooms. A minute walk from bars, a bakery and a grocery store. Highly recommended!

Bright rooms, superb host, excellent hostel!
I booked the accommodation with a view to spending one night there on the way up to Bohinj. In the end I wish I had stayed there for longer. The accommodation is great value, it has a fantastic terrace for drinking coffee, relaxing and catching the morning sun above the Kokra valley. The rooms are bright, airy and clean and there are good facilities and a supermarket within walking distance. The greatest aspect of this hostel is the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere of the place. A large part of this is down to the host, Peter, who is friendly, very helpful and has a useful knowledge of Kranj and the surrounding area. This was my fourth time travelling in Slovenia, but only the first time staying in Kranj. I have to say, that after staying at several different hotels and hostels throughout Slovenia over the last decade, I have never experienced a better level of hospitality than that received when staying at The Cukrarna.

Très bon rapport qualité prix pour cette auberge
Très sympa auberge de jeunesse qui propose des chambres avec des sanitaires privés en plein centre de Kranj. La chambre au 2ème étage propose une superbe vue sur la végétation autour de la rivière, c'est vraiment chouette ! Le petit-déjeuner est convenable (pain, yaourts, céréales) mais le café est vraiment mauvais ! Il manque toutefois quelques restaurants dans la ville qui est assez calme.

Estabamos alojadas en una habitación para 2, con baño privado. La habitación es espaciosa y tiene baño con ducha y lavabo, separado del wc con otro lavabo. Cuando llegamos a la habitación vimos que en el baño se habían dejado una toalla usada colgada en la puerta, lo que da mala imagen. Por otra parte, el desayuno es muy pobre (nada de desayuno continental). Sólo tenían cereales y tostadas, y 2 variedades de fruta. El hostel está en una zona peatonal por lo que hay que aparcar fuera de esa zona y tener en cuenta que es zona azul

Prima verblijf. Goede service bij check in en prima ontbijt. Enige minpuntjes : de douche was echt heel viel en kapot. Natuurlijk kan het niet altijd super schoon zijn bij een gedeelde badkamer, maar dit kwam gedeeltelijk door slecht onderhoud. Verder was het heel heet op de kamer, deed de ventilator het niet en was er geen zonsverduistering/gordijn.
