Hotel was very clean but a little dated. The main issue was lack of internet, it didn't work in the rooms which also meant no TV was available as this was WiFi based. Not the end of the world but a shame as it's nice to be able to catch the news or a movie. Pool and beach very good

Location, location n location !
Just returned from Koh Samui after a 5 night stay. First Bungalow is all about location, location n location. It is bang on the beach and a good beach at that. I had a beach bungalow, overlooking directly into the ocean and literally 25 metres away from the water edge. The waves were calm and one could easily walk in about 50 metres into the water, even with no swimming skills. And now the not so good part...breakfast nothing to talk about, very average. Generally the resort is old and run down and dont look for anything plush in the room interiors, etc. Aircon and bathroom worked fine. I am used to a hard mattress but this was too hard even for me. On my request, they were nice enough to spread a soft mattress topper which made it better. Service levels were acceptable and nothing to complain about. If you feel the price of beach bungalows are steep, its only because of the location. If the stay is not very long, it is worth it.

The place had been here for awhile but it is well maintain. The pool is nice and you can't beat the beach here. There is no barrier so the ocean water is always clean. My kids spent hours in the water. For it location, you can't beat it price. The staff were great. Some even help us after their work hour. They have staff clean the beach chairs and comb the beach to keep it clean.

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our time at First Bungalow Beach Resort. The only redeeming factor of our stay was the beautiful pool in the centre of the property. Otherwise, our room was so poorly kept; the taps in the bathroom barely worked and there was mould on the shower curtain, the bed as many have mentioned is rock hard, and even with a mattress topper it was almost impossible to sleep. The wifi just does not work unless you are in the lobby or the restaurant. The breakfast offering and the restaurant are also poor, so much so we didn’t even both going to breakfast on our last day. The staff are extremely rude and do not offer any kind of customer service. The only thing they seem to care about is their mobile phones and the language barrier for basic requests was very tricky. This hotel could be beautiful, but unfortunately it has not been well looked after at all.

Sub par on all levels. Only good thing was the beach and they know that. The rooms have no windows just a balcony that look into another building. Mainly a Russian and German tourist. Outside of the resort it smells of sewage.

Sorry to say but hotel has absolutely no saver nor security, My safe was opened by someone and mine stolen , substantial amount, I requested safe to replaced and hotel did it. All my attempts to resolve this matter went to nowhere. I left hotel 4 days prior to my stay expirations . Hotel didn’t even make any attempt to investigate such matters. Another issue , sine there are many foreigners staying there , hotel staff don’t speak even basic English which makes it very hard to communicate and resolve any matters. Never again I step to this property

Not as cheap as it should be for how basic it is. I've stayed in all sorts of accomodation in Thailand from very basic budget to 5-star hotels and have had much better for the same price or less. You just need to be aware that this is very basic. The bed is one of the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in. I had a "Deluxe" room, still wondering what was deluxe about it. I can appreciate a firm matress but this was just straight-up bad for your back. I had a really bad sleep due to how uncomfortable I was in every position and it hurt all day the next day. The air con was so ineffective it wasn't worth the noise of having it on. Lights are dim and dull. Your room looks out at where people pass by and has no net curtains so people look straight in to your room. The curtains are so thin I wasn't even convinced people couldn't see through them when i had the light on. You can hear everything around you, every time someone opens their door or speaks anywhere around, the noise seems to be amplified somehow; not that the guests were noisy, just normal sounds are really loud. Wifi was totally useless,i had to find a cafe to just book my next hotel. Due to the time of year the tide was in completely so I couldn't comment on the beach but what I can comment on is when I walked over the grassy area to look at the beach it was COVERED in litter. On the plus side the pool is very nice and the room was very clean.

Another nice stay at the best beach in Koh samui. Although an old resort the pool and the beach is wonderful. Reasonably priced and everything you need Is right there, more and more restaurants popping up here also. Mini marts local so there is no need to go into Chaweng. Walking along the beach is nice and the water is so clean and clear. Keep coming back each year which says something.

Liked: beach, enough sunlounges Didn’t like: outdated bathroom (difficult to get to and from bathtub when taking shower), fluctuating water pressure in shower. Sunlounges could be cleaned occasionally from bird droppings. Also staff for putting up sun umbrellas on the beach is impossible to find.

We were pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. Beautiful beach, luscious garden setting and delicious breakfast (with omelet station etc). The area has many restaurants and bars close by. The only ( but major) draw back was that the beds were rock hard and extremely uncomfortable.

Very nice— room a little run down but overall nice and clean. The pool was amazing and the beach great as well. Surroundings very lush. Breakfast buffet had a good selection and delicious. Asked for xtra pillow two days in a row and was unable to get due to no xtra pillows available. Air con either too hot or too cold was hard to regulate it. Laundry very expensive and charged per piece vs kilos. Mr Joy runs a pancake (crepe) stand just outside the property which we had to get s banana Nutella treat daily 😊

We like the position of Bungalow 729 and the possibility to eat and drink at the beach bar. Unfortunatelly there were lots of garbage coming from the sea to the beach. But the truth is that the staff was cleaning the beach every day.

Samui Getaway
This is a really great hotel with friendly staff, good size rooms and a really great pool and nice quite beach. It does take about 15 minutes to walk to the happening parts of Chaweng Beach.

We stayed in the beach bungalows over new year, not having stayed here for 9 years, when arriving we were told our 11 year old would have to share our bed! Even though I booked for 2 adults and a child, they tried to tell me I had to pay extra 750 baht for extra bed. Luckily when we went to the room there was a sofa so he slept on that after spending over £1k for our 8 night stay I didn't want to pay anymore. I felt there hadn't been much improvements to the hotel in this time, love the pool however the mattresses on the sun beds were dirty with birds mess & uncomfortable these could do with being upgraded. Also the Sunbeds on the beach could do with updating. There was lots of rubbish on the beach outside the hotel every other hotel seemed to clean their part of the beach but not here. Overall nice place to stay but dont expect too much.

- logistics: don't feel park of main pool or hotel - Rm: view onto wall, 4th floor no lift, beds & pillows EXTRA HARD - requested change but slept on half sofa in room both nights (would not give refund) - WORST experience in hundreds of hotels .. if going for standard room - DONT BOTHER - Staff: pretended not to speak English, than same person was fluent when they required you engagement

I stayed in a beach bungalow and the view was spectacular. The room itself was nice and comfortable, but the shower was really lousy. The hotel is really close to Chewang Beach, but on a less crowded section. The staff could have been friendlier. When we checked out, they tried charging us for things that weren’t even in the minibar when we checked in. My main complaint would be the restaurant. It was way overpriced and the food was mediocre. Room service costs 2000, which is really ridiculous as 10% is more typical. Overall, the hotel is decent.

A Great Gem!
We spent two weeks at First Bungalow and we will definitely stay again when in Koh Samui. We were treated like royalty by the staff at both the hotel and restaurant where we ate breakfast each day. The location is superb - the pool was right outside our door, the beach within a two minute walk and the local shops a four to six minute walk. The only improvement I can suggest is softer beds. They did bring extra pads upon request.

Well I don't usually give long winded reviews but this needs some words attached to the emojos. Firstly locality and beach front was sensational. Obviously the hotel is promoted in Germany and most guests were german so mixing with some non english speaking germans was hard, but we managed as best we could. The hotel pool was fantastic and almost empty every day as most guests went to the beach which suited us. The breakfast included in the price was fine. Now the negatives and dont be too harse when reading. 1)the rooms are just dated. Clean and everything works but some parts could do with some new tiles or even a paint job. The grounds were great and well presented. 2) The only real negative and is something mentioned on a few reviews is the beds. When other reviewers said they were hard beds I was actually happy as we prefer firm beds. My god they are solid and i ended up buying a mattress from tesco and asking for further bed toppers from the hotel |(which they provided and have a few of). Just be aware and make your choice or ask for a bed topper before you arrive in your comments. Would I stay there again. Obsolutley- why well after you take the meals out of it then you are not paying too much in Australia dollars to stay there and value for money it was great.

We had a bungalow on the beach.
I stayed for three weeks, the bungalow was perfect right on the beach, very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Rooms cleaned every day. All staff was very friendly and helped with all our questions, I would highly recommend the beach bungalows. Only critique is breakfast could be a bit better. I would definitely return and also recommend. The dogs at the resort are very well looked after and we loved them coming to visit us every day.

Careful When booking Beach Side Bungalows
Had to fight to get a proper Beachside Bungalow, most of the other have little or no beach view. They should create two rates as only 736-741,748,749,753,754 and 761-764 (14 0f about 45) have real beach views. Drop the others by 5% and increase the others by 10%. At least you would get what you are paying for.

Worst hotel ever
Had a very bad experience for this hotel. This hotel is a 1 star or less rate. In all my travels around the world I never faced a bad hotel like this one. Staff is not trained at all and not prepared and if they have a manager this manager is also not prepared. Infrastructure that doesn't work. Awful and cheap breakfast. This is definetely not a resort and shouldn't be having this name! It should had called bed&breakfast or inn. The only nice thing is the beach that is clean and calm but not crystal water either.

First Bungalow was fantastic. We experienced a problem the first night, however the staff resolved the issue and moved us without any issue. The pool was fantastic along with the included breakfast.

Worst stay in Thailand. Rooms are not as pictured. View is only to another ajoining apartment complex. AC loud and rattles all the time. The worst part of the stay was the staff. Incredibly rude and dismissive. We hired a scooter and it was broken - we realised this as soon as we took it off the property and promptly took it back (within 15min) then they tried to charge us for the breakage. Steer clear of this hotel we are so pleased to be checking out.

More minuses than pluses.
Pluses: - On Chaweng Noi beach. - Pool is ok. - Some restaurants close by Minuses: - A lot of dogs on beach which walk around resort. Was bitten by a dog on the beach. Staff do not do anything about the dogs. - 15m walk to the main Chaweng beach - Poor breakfast, only omelette and fruit was ok. - Poor wifi - Beach towels small and run out quickly - Toilet broke multiple times - Air con was poor and loud - Room walls and tiles in bathroom covered with mould - Hotel gave us single bed room rather than double bed room as booked.

Don't book a std. room, they are not part of hotel ,small ,dark and most with bad views. Had to upgrade to deluxe room and finally got a nice room after moving 3 times. The hotel has no evening entertainment, but this is common. Breakfast was good and restaurant in great location overlooking sea, Hotel in quieter location than most. Overall good choice of hotel for the price.
