There is no door and an open window in the bathrooms. No privacy. Food and drinks at the hotel were extortionate for Thailand. Sewage smell at the beach and poolside was terrible.

Absolutely loved this place. The staff were extremely friendly and pools and grounds were kept very clean. It’s located right on the beach although we stayed on the mountain side it wasn’t that big a drama crossing the road. It’s a bit out of town but if you hire a scooter as we did that’s not a problem. Would recommend the hotel to anyone thinking about going to Koh Samui.

Good family hotel
Spend 10 days at Novotel Chaweng beach, and was all in all happy about the stay. The hotel staff is very friendly, 2 nice pool areas and location directly at the beach and a short walk away from the center of Chaweng beach was perfect for a family holiday.

Great first time experience in Koh Samui
Overall good experience, staff were always friendly and helpful. Easy enough to communicate in English. The resort is split into two one beachside the other mountainside. If you stay on the mountainside expect to cross the busy main road everyday. There are two pools one on each side but the main pool has a bit of shade. There were a few restaurants around the resort but nothing to write home about. You will need to adventure out to get better eats and the beaches as well. The beach is OK, sand is abit rough and rocky but you can walk way out from shore. The room was large and spacious enough for my family.

Great Solo stay!
Really good. FYI rooms with mountain view are totally apart behind the main hotel building with main pool and beach area. Spa is great. Buffet breakfast too. Happy hours and night shows ( fire acrobats... amazing!) You can book tours to Ko Tao and make reservations to great cliff sea view restaurants for dinner. Highly recommend Novotel spa resort!

Smelly hillside section that looked gloomy and depressing, noise from upstairs room. Amazing and lovely staff, who went out of their way though. Novotel, you need to lift your game to improve the facilities and recognise that your great staff are the only reason anyone should come here.

This Hotel had problems with the hot water, and black water running out at times due to old pipping i was told. There was never any sun beds available after 7am in the morning, the hotel manager agreed with me in my opinion this was barely a 2 star hotel. the new years eve entertainment and food was awful and again even confirmed by the hotel manager, even so i was refunded my £235 that was the over priced cost of the new years event. Yes there was a storm that closed the beach the pool areas, and more importantly the airpot, however this tropical storm by all accounts was know to be coming by the hotel, but not communicated even with a simple signing the reception area to its guests, in my case causing real problems and being stuck in this 2 star motel for a further 4 days, however when i tried to leave for allturnative hotel they did attempt to firstly drop there price to stay and after having to spend two hours with different so called managers to resulve my problems and complaints i insisted in only speaking to the top man, who was more than helpful i must say. However at what price do you put on your only holiday in the year ???????????

Great hotel, great food, great service and great pool. Highly recommend this hotel if you’re in Koh Samui. It is a family resort though so if you’re looking to party try another spot... lots of kids!

Rooms good size and comfortable. Staff good, but beach not clean Breakfast buffet ok, but flies on most food (cheese, salami cakes etc). Stay away from Seafood Buffet Dinner. TERRIBLE !!! Prawns and squid overcooked by chef who has no idea about cooking seafood. No fish, salmon steak, crab or lobster or bugs !!! I have never seen such a poor quality seafood buffet !

A very good stay First time to Samui and I'm glad I chose the North Chewang area to stay in. The hotel was ideally located and had all the facilities that I wanted. There were some parts of the hotel that could do with a bit of a touch-up.

Family stay, away from main centre in Chaweng
The hotel is split by one of the main roads in Ko Samui, with half the accomodation and one of the two pools nearer the beach. We stayed in the part that is further from the beach and it was noticeably quieter than the beachside; no scramble for poolside seats, no scrum at breakfast (which by the way is included as part of the Expedia cost) and a much more laid back feel. Our superior room overlooked the pool which meant the kids (2 x teenage boys) could pop in for a swim before mum and dad were ready. The room itself was large with lots of floor space, a big bed for us, a big bunk for the kids and a large Thai style sofa that could have been another double bed! One oddity is that the bathroom is really big so feels part of the living space (separated by a windowed wall) but the loo is visible if you don't shut the door. A family will get used to this quickly. Location wise, the hotel is about 15 minutes walk along the beach from the town centre. There are a few small restaurants nearby that are quite fun. The hotel puts on a free bus to town 3 times a day. The hotel's location means that there is very little beach frontage, but a 5 minute stroll took us to an empty part of the beach. The beach is lovely, do try the kayaking and the fruit salad from the local vendors. I'd stay here again!

Disappointing and overpriced hotel
It's not what I expected from Novotel chain with the Novotel Samui. Downright disappointed with just about everything. The only thing good was the reception staff. Room is too dark. No ceiling light at the office desk and shower. There is a cove ceiling but it had no lighting. There is limited selection of instant coffee and only black tea Lipton available in the room. Cable TV has limited foreign channels. 2 days of room cleaning and not enough towels. Had to always call in we need 3 got 2. Dirty glasses not cleaned. The breakfast could be managed. There are too many people coming for breakfast and only 1 person at the hot grill making eggs, french toast and pancakes all on a small hot grill. The result is a huge que at the egg station all waiting. After 2 days of struggling to cut the bread with the dull bread knife I had to finally complain and did get a proper sharpened bread knife. I took my son to the beach front just after the pool and played in the sand and went out to the ocean a bit so my son can play with the sea water. I was shocked when I turned back and saw the storm drain or sewer drain outfall just very left of the hotel. Stayed in the pool after that. The Thai restaurant looks nice and we went for dinner only to wait 25 mins for our dishes because the same kitchen also cater to room service. Food was not upto par for Thai dishes. Checking out trying to get help for luggage is waiting for a long time only 1 luggage porter. Unfortunately I won't be coming back

The staff we very friendly and we got an upgrade to a bigger room. Great spot so we used the pool and the beach that the hotel backed onto. Next time we would book beach side rather than hillside. The one criticism was that the bed was quite hard.

Nice hotel on the beach
Quiet and clean hotel with friendly staff. Decent breakfast buffet and 1-for-1 deals on beers and cocktails at specific timing. Close to Chaweng town centre with free shuttle service (1-way). Tom Yum Thai restaurant serves delicious meals at reasonable prices in a comfortable ambience.

Totally worth the price and an excellent experienc
We stayed here 5 nights during the busy week just before Christmas through after Christmas, when prices are higher. I've stayed at a LOT of hotels in Ko Samui and this has been my favorite by far. The pool and dining/bar area by the beach is simply awesome. The cocktails are first class and we loved the happy hours. (2 a day!) Only negative was we thought we were staying on the beach-side of the main road but actually for the "hill-side" rooms you have to cross the street and walk a hundred yards/meters or two but trust me, once you accept that you won't mind the walk. Beach side rooms are way more expensive and probably not worth it, at least on this given week when even the hill-side rooms were nearly double their normal rate. Also liked the multiple pools and the breakfast buffet was quite nice.

Good all rounder
Good hotel and probably the best pool in Samui. Whilst a little ‘tired’ in some spots it compares well to other hotels in the area and probably one of the better places. Also it is just north of main chaweng and an easy walk or 50 baht per person ride into town on a tuctuc. One thing to note, like many of the hotels here, it spans over two sides of the road - beach side and ‘garden view’ which is a fancy name for it is on the other side of the road from the beach. Had we known we would have paid a bit extra to be on the beach side. Whilst rooms still lovely, it was just a pain and a big walk with two little kids in tow to go to and from the room to the beach each day so we found ourselves packing a big bag in the morning g and heading down and settling in for the day which wasn’t ideal.
